Because it wasn’t illegal 🤔🙄 the only reason they banned it the following season was because of the cost cap and the FiA didn’t want other teams trying to copy it and overspending

@@janewalters4631: Partially correct. Several teams approached FIA about DAS and were told no. Merc expended a lot of engineering time and $$$ to present a few itterations to FIA until they had one which hit the jackpot...LEGAL BY LETTER OF THE REG'S. The FIA allowed it for the rest of the season but outlawed it going forward because it was against the "spirit" of the reg's. Contrast that with RB's REG LEGAL wing in 2021 and REG LEGAL brake parts this season being TD'd off the car in - season. The FIA likes Toto and McLaren, hates RB.

@@carlfrye1566 the FiA don’t like RedBull yet the FiA race director was Max’s only chance of winning 2021 and then there’s the cost cap they overspent by £1.4m (don’t say it wasn’t that much - until HMRC give you the tax back it means you’ve spent what wasn’t technically there! Like an overdraft). Also RBs wings were flapping like no one’s business and giving them the time to fix their wings (duct tape all over them) but merc’s wing was out by 0.02mm so Lewis gets banned? Yeah they love merc. As for the asymmetrical braking that must have been on Max’s car only due to him now struggling like Checo…not that Merc are shining brightly either. Whatever McLaren have done if found to be illegal then they deserve their punishment too

But James RBR had the same flexibility wing in 2021 and the paddock didn't make a noise about it event with graphic and video evidence proving flexing. Remember also the anti dive-anti squat excuses last season ... well I guess Max can't perform if the car is developed around Checo

Once upon a time F1 was about elevation and pushing the boundaries of what a car could do! but now every time a team makes a small change there is an uproar is it is pathetic. It’s got to the stage now where somebody in the American owned formula we say let’s do IndyCar we will have one manufacturer and you all race the same car F1 is its own worst enemy, which car shall we choose to be? The only car we race in F1 or can we go back to the days where F1 was about pushing what a car can do?
