Long term listener, first time commenting… When I saw Kurtis was back home I was thinking oh good for him, he’s be on the road a long time. My bf is a musician so I get that’s it’s great to be busy on the road but also tough to be away from home but hearing the bus burnt down…man that’s so awful and losing all those irreplaceable items. I know you can replace things but still that hurts…hope he minds his mental health and has some time to process, to anyone who goes through something similar just because you can replace it, doesn’t mean you have to be okay with losing it, it sucks, let yourself feel how you feel. Yes 100% take time off 🙌 but seriously Kurtis don’t stop being you, your take on things are always balanced and easy to consume, sometimes you don’t want a new take, sometimes as a viewer you just want someone to be like - hey look at this nonsense - and you feel better cause someone is calling out the thing that is bothering you and you feel validated in your reaction because here this guy on the internet feeling the same and you go from feeling like ‘😒wtf’ to ‘😏wtf’ and laughing at the absurdity of things because you add the goofy tone, we need that goofy tone to help chill out, just do that, we are here because we love that. Seriously I share your videos with my very serious friends who love a good serious debate, I call them the ‘it’s awful when you think about it’ people but we watch you and they laugh and joke instead of seeing only the serious side of topics but we also discuss the topic at the same time. So, I consume mainly commentary-type KZbin videos as a whole, and while I do agree that I feel like maybe the space is changing a little bit, I will say that you do a really good job regardless of if you're Fushigi-ing or just clowning on TikTokers. I think the amount of time that you take to create your videos is incredibly evident, and regardless of how you want to pivot, I'm totally on board. You come off as thoughtful and funny and your editing is great and everyone is insecure! Idk man, I'm just a fan perpetually. (Also I'm so sorry about all of your items, even the golf clubs. I think the explosion of Chad Chad in the last few months has proven there is still a community and fanbase for silly, goofy, humor and weird skits and edits. I also think she exploded in popularity because women were a big chunk of the fanbase but there were not female creators being blessed by the algorithm to reach the levels of others so when Chad Chad rolled up she grew so quickly to bridge that gap. I do think there is a shift in humorous commentary having serious content like Ro and Noah like you said, but there will always be a place for the original silly goofy commentary.

it's interesting to hear you talk about the commentary space because I honestly have been feeling like I want some of the goofiness back. i'm so sorry for the tour bus 😔. the drama around the film is crazy 😬. the "miss flo" bit got me fuming. instead of listening to her actress, she prioritized the man instead, trivializing florence's discomfort. but florence is such a good actress, she is very "in" right now, so i hope the drama stays away from her so she can focus on her next work(i am excited to see her in dune), hopefully it will be more pleasurable experience. it must have been so uncomfortable for her, i will not blame her if she will want to block this movie from her mind.

Genuinely I think that "shift" in commentary that you're talking about it entirely subjective. Hey man I'm not trying to take away from what you went through or minimize but I completely relate and understand how this feels. My boyfriend came home from work in February to find our house burned to the ground. Getting that call from him was probably one of the worst moments of my life. I'm still afraid to pick up the phone sometimes. I know how hard it is to lose physical things. It's just something that feels impossible to get over. For months all I could do was just remember things I no longer had. I had about 70 N64 games that I had collected throughout my life and from my childhood. As well as three n64s and an ice blue one. I also had about 5k in vinyl. It was hard to imagine listening to some of those songs because now some of those albums are worth hundreds and I could never afford them again. But with time I've thought about it less and less. I feel like there's a certain grief that people don't talk about when you lose a bunch of stuff like that. It's completely valid. Anyone who tells you "it's just stuff" can eat shit. "Well at least no one was hurt!" BITCH I WAS 😭 But it DOES get better with time. Hang in there buddy

I feel like you and Drew do a really good job of taking something that seems kinda silly (fushigi, taking ninjas class) and making it enjoyable because of y'all's style. Yet, you can talk about something a bit more serious and still have it be substantive and humorous. Also, if you don't feel smart enough, that's probably just because you're hard on yourself, but you only see/think of when others are always on it. It's imposter syndrome and it's a mix of humility and seeing others at their best. In my opinion, you have a unique style that is inarguably Kurtis. Stuff is replaceable but people are not. I am so sorry that you lost so many sentimentally valuable belongings, and I am so glad that you are home and taking so much time off next month! Can't wait your merch to drop!

Hey Mayor Kurt, speaking for myself at the very least- I was drawn to your videos in early 2019 and was pretty charmed by this sort of "awkward, not trying to be crazy intellectual yet still drawing points to your worldview in a lighthearted and giggle-inducing way" style you had. As a middle schooler, I felt awkward all the time lol and that sort of thing was encouraging, it had me thinking that I could laugh at myself and still do what I love while 100% being myself. Pls don't feel like you have to measure up to how other people are doing their thing- it's a cliché sentiment but: we really all are apples and oranges in everything we do. Keep doing your thing bro, and of course, growth is never something to apologize for. As long as it feels right to you!🤠yee yee

please don’t stop making whatever the hell u want to make and enjoy your time off to the fullest, you are currently getting me through a really bad breakup and not to get too deep but my brain is way too loud and it’s really nice to just turn on the podcast and listen.

i understand what you mean about new commentary views but omfg you are smart and funny and unendlessly entertaining. you’re educated on so many different issues and it’s so wonderful to watch you videos on serious stuff and on stuff like bratz vs barbie (plus your editing is part of what makes it amazing). this must be such a scary and nerve racking job to have but hope you know citizens of kurtistown will keep supporting you. glad you’re taking a break don’t ever feel bad about it ❤️

I’ve been living in KurtisTown for four years now and I gotta say, you don’t need to make daunting educational video essays! You’re such a talented comedian and your goofiness is part of your (and the towns) charm! Don’t force yourself to make things just because other people make those things, our favourite Kurtis is passionate Kurtis.

I'll always love your goofy commentary videos because that's the reason I love this channel. Back when you first released that country boy tik tok video, I knew you'd be one of my favorite youtubers. You shouldn't second guess yourself so much when you've already made it this far and still growing. We believe in you, Kurtis :)

Comedy was and is the backbone of KZbin. And while change is good, and im glad so many people are educating others and seeking education, comedy will always be just as important. It's a necessary break and just as important for your brain as something less silly and/or goofy

So I relate hard core with the fire story. My house burnt down 2 years ago. I totally understand being upset about losing stuff. I still am remembering things I lost in the fire. shirts, pictures, jewelry, journals. It really sucks. It doesn't mean your materialistic, you shouldn't feel guilty. Sentiment is strong. I'm so sorry that it happened, it's such a random situation. Hope you can replace the major items soon and I'm so glad everyone is okay 🤍🤍🤍

hi kurtis i’m sure you won’t see this but i just wanted to let you know that most of your audience is here because we love your content, style, and your personality. i personally enjoy every type of video u put out because it’s silly and goofy and always laugh, even in the more serious videos about things you’re passionate about !! so don’t worry about what others are doing, you are on your own schedule and have your own style of doing things ! and we all love it :)

Hey Kurtis I just wanted to let you know that the love and care that you put into your work always shows. I saw the tour in August and I felt so incredibly lucky that I got to experience such an amazing work of creativity in person from all three of you. Even in your videos, I always see the work that you put into your commentary and you always bring something truly unique to the commentary space. You’re a pioneer for new creators and you should always be proud of yourself for the work you do

Kurtis I’d love to see a video of you talking about your favourite films. Maybe a podcast episode about it so it can be more chill :) I love watching your film commentaries I think it would be great !!!

For what it’s worth, I love all the commentary KZbinrs you mentioned and wouldn’t have discovered any of them if it wasn’t for watching your videos first. You’ve definitely opened up the gates for a lot of newer content creators and allowed fans to discover and be a part of such an awesome and non-toxic online community.

i’ll watch anything you put out and i think that’s what makes your commentary videos ones to come back to, because it’s your own unique style, it doesn’t always have to be some take or opinion that is eye opening or different but because you’re the one that said it i’m like “nice”. Videos that are most interesting to viewers are with topics the creator is interested in, which doesn’t always have to be what’s trending or happening presently.

Kurtis I’m a huge fan and I’m seeing you in Chicago and I’m so excited. I have bad anxiety and love to rewatch shows/video to ease it. And I rewatch your videos every night. They make me laugh no matter how many times I’ve seen them. Do what you love and have fun and I’ll always be watching.

your feelings about losing everything in a fire are absolutely valid, and you should never feel guilty expressing your emotions on the matter. glad everyone was okay, and i'm sorry you had to go through that. i love you, Kurtis! 🫶🏻

i could not care less about the drama of the cast, I want to see it because the plot sounds so insane. also, one of my worst fears is having my house burn down....so hearing about your tour bus was really upsetting! I'm glad you have other people to support you!

I watch a lot of commentary channels on youtube but I'm not always in the mood to watch the super thoughtful ones even though they're definitely really well made. I'm always super excited whenever you Danny or Drew upload though, because I know no matter what I'm going to enjoy it. and I usually rewatch my favourites of you guys when I have nothing else to watch. so please continue doing what you're doing cause there needs to be a space for comedy commentary in the future
