I am now currently in the process of moving to a new company for a completely different position for higher pay and better long term benefits, and this process is now in its 7 month. I went through an extensive application process, a tough series of panel interviews, medical/physical exam, and now waiting on the final job offer while working in my current position. The deal is that almost all Latin american countries are controlled by tiny exploitative classes of wealthy people that don't care about other people in their country, only to preserve their own wealth. US interests support these classes because it means more profits for them as well. This is directly a continuation of the colonization that started 500 years ago, in fact most of the people leaving Guatemala are indigenous Maya people. Back during the cold war the US sponsored several right wing governments in Central America that massacred poor, especially indigenous people during civil wars. This has left the society even poorer and with immense trauma.
@zachperkins6884 жыл бұрын
It's because Honduras, Guatemala, ect are insanely poor, even in comparison to Mexico. A lot of those migrants actually just want to end up in Mexico, as there are way more jobs to be found there than in Central America. Those small Central American countries have barely any opportunity, insanely corrupt governments, and basically no money to go around. And it's been like this for decades and decades. It's no wonder that people keep trying to leave when they see an opportunity to do so. The right would probably disagree, but I think investing in these countries could go a long way towards making these people not feel the need to leave in order to not live in extreme poverty forever.

This is the BEST documentary I've seen on the caravan. It talks to young and old. It shows the stories of people walking towards their dreams of safety. It shows the compassion of some Mexican people helping them by giving rides on trucks. It also shows bigoted Mexicans believing 45's rhetoric and calling refugees from other countries terrorists. This is the reality. Mothers with babies in their arms fighting for a better life. Coming from countries where there are few if any opportunities to get ahead unless their families have established businesses already from previous eras. Well done.

Demanding some one take care of you is unrealistic. America can't take careof its own poor They are on a fruitless journey America has accepted many people, but it has to stop as our benefit system is already strained.
@zachperkins6884 жыл бұрын
You need to at least admit that most of these migrants don't realize that. As this kid said for example, people seem to think America is rich enough to take anyone in. But that being said, your argument is still stupid. In the late 1800s, people were saying the exact same thing about the Italians coming over, and now they're an important part of American culture. There's countless examples of nativist campaigns throughout US history, and each time the theories of immigrants breaking the system has never come true.

Illegals can't get EBT cards, stop perpetuating this myth and stop drinking the media's Kool-aid. Top conservatives and liberals both benefit from illegals because they use their cheap labor to build their million dollar companies. They use the media to blame illegals but in reality if no one would hire them illegals would have nothing to live on here. No food stamps, welfare or medical aid.

@@rabrab3934 when you live in south america you will understand how many clothing and shoewear fake top-brands you can find. There is fake everything at the cheapest price (obviously). Believe me, rich people in south and central america don't look, speak or have the accent he has. I can tell he is no rich kid. And eating breakfast watchingTV? Most likely a worn down 20-inch TV from the 80s in an incredibly small home. I am grateful I am privileged and belong to the upper-middle class of my country's society and have access to a great education, but I can confirm that none of my rich friends look, speak, express themselves and behave like him. Again, he is no rich kid. If you could see how people in south or central america live, you would understand. Btw, I don't even fully support illegal immigration, it's just that, as a human and a south-american, I find it really sad to see my people resorting to these ways. It's not their fault, they have not been taught better, they live in precarious conditions, and governments are to blame.

My heart aches for these people. Imagine how horrible things would have to be for YOU to pack up and take your baby and/or young child(ren) on a long, treacherous journey to a country that is foreign to you but relatively safe. Then, once you arrive, your baby and/or child(ren) are taken away from you and you’re taken to a detention cell (i.e., jail). All because you want a better, safer, more stable life for yourself and your kids.
