Link and Samus already exclusively use deadly weapons like swords, bombs, and missiles. Meanwhile, Kirby eats his enemies to gain their delicious powers. I suppose these characters could attack the few friendly NPCs they have with the same weapons they use on their enemies and the deaths could be depicted more brutally, but really they don't exactly show a lot of mercy to begin with.

Both of those characters use lethal weapons by default. I suppose you could add more blood, dismemberment, and screaming and/or have them attack non-hostile NPCs, but it wouldn't be nearly as extreme of a change.
