Videographer Reacts To Ruination | Season 2021 Cinematic - League of Legends

The new edgelord’s name is Viego, the Ruined King. He was just released as a new champion and Riot is going to dedicate the first part of this year toward him arriving in the game and in the world of Runeterra. As you can tell the trailer shows his initial influence on all the different factions in the world and how they will need to put aside their differences to combat him. He is also the main bad guy in the RPG Riot is releasing this year called The Ruined King: A League of Legends Story

Let me tell you what really happens in this cinematic. First of all, the two main characters (lucian and senna), this cinematic is next to the senna trailer, where we could see lucian fighting with thresh for avenging her death (senna died against thresh years ago, but in that cinematic we can see how she uses some kind of energy to revive and come to life again). This cinematic happens some months after that trailer. and we can see how senna starts to hear a voice on his head. This voice is indeed the antagonist's wife (isolde). And now there it comes the one who moves the argument of this season 11 (viego, the ruined king). Viego is the responsable of a cataclism that destroyed a country 3000 years before the present, that cataclism is known as "the ruine". What happened is this: "Isolde got poisoned by some kind of dark magic while some unknown mage was trying to kill viego, since he was a really bad king for his country, he coulndnt find a cure so his wife died... before this he became obsessed with bringing back to life, and someday he got informed about a country where there was a magic with the power to revive her. The thing is that kind of magic does not exist, and the sentinels tried to avoid him, but he didnt believe them so he putted isolde corpse into the font of life.... isolde revived as a spectre, and she was really sad, since she wanted to rest in peace, so she took viego's sword and tried to suicide.... the problem is that she wasnt able to do it because of the strong magic from the font of life so instead, that magic reacted with the runes from the sword, creating a cataclism called the black mist.... whoever was touched by this explosion became a spectre, and the most powerfull spirits became some of the champions that belongs to the shadow isles, like thresh, hecarim, kalista or viego" The thing is, since isolde realized she couldnt die as soon as viego would be there, seems she tried to split her soul in fragments. One of them seems to be inside the mist maiden that follows yoric, and the other went with senna. Indeed this portion of isolde's soul is the reason why the black mist was allways following senna. Before the cinematic she always thought that voice was indeed her instincts, but after revive she noticed isolde was real. ----------------------------- So, knowing that, the argument is the next: Senna and Lucian were taking a hollydays, since they have been years missing the other, but viego detects isolde's soul inside senna and starts going there. When senna finally finds viego into the black mist, she tries to convince him about letting her go, but he just cant do that (since shadow illes spectres arent exactly like humans, they just live around their last thoughts before dying, and in viego's case is to bring his wife back with him). Then he quickly starts to drain isolde's soul from senna, and this added to his wraith brings an event around the world, specially in thoose places with some kind of magic similar to the shadow illes like: -NOXUS: In the inmortal bastion, since that was mordekaiser's fortress and there is indeed a portal to the infraworld where mordekaiser is waiting to come back. -IONIA: In the placidium, since its basically the most massive natural magic vortex in runeterra -DEMACIA: In the sentinells of light sanctuary (the sentinnels of light were some of thoose people who could scape from the cataclism milleniums ago, and they started to fight the shadow illes with his light magic... senna and lucian belongs to this order). As soon as this happens the black mist is summoned and starts to expand corrupting every life form it touches. In this moment, Darius is commanding the trifarian legion (the elite command from noxian empire's army) in order to contain the attack from rell (pre-supposing her cinematic happens at the same time as this, what would have sense considering some facts i can tell you in other comentary). Karma was meditating in ionia to conect with the world (karma is something like the "avatar" of the ionia's spirit, so she's basically the most powerfull mage in that region). And about Poppy and vayne in demacia, well, demacia is itself well protected because of the petricite (that white material that has the propperty of absorbing magic), so they tried to protect the walls against the spectres phisical attacs. In this moment viego starts to posess darius and karma, the diference between darius and karma is that darius is just a human (yeah, a one man army kind human but still a human without magic powers to defend himself, jsut pure brute force) while karma is one of the most powerfull mages in the world, so she was able to resists viego but darius couldnt. finally, when lucian stops him, he runs with senna and viego takes isolde's soul fragment with him, so the black mist dissapears. ------------------------- And... about the post credits scene, that quote about "we cant do this alone", its because of this: 1st: The upcoming RPG game from riotgames "ruined king" (the trailer of that game is also conected with this, probably happening days after the cinematic). Also, that game is connected with yone's trailer, since in post game scene we can se ahri and yasuo going to bilgewater (the nearest point before the shadow isles). 2nd: This is the first event of the year, and it will be connected with one of the next champs they will release (what is probably isolde btw). 3rd: The black mist comming in noxus, same as some things there have been happening with the last champs and histories gives clues about Mordekaiser could come back soon (and trust me, viego is just the teaser of what mordekaiser could do with the world, since he's far far far far faaaaaar way more powerfull than viego, even considering the great power of the ruined king). To make you notice how powerfull is mordekaiser... Since Swain raise up as the new grand general, he has been using the power of the demon of secrets to prepare noxus for that guy's comeback, since mordekaiser is planning to conquer the entire world from the infra-world. To make a good comparison.... if Viego would be something like "the witch king of angmar" (from the lord of the rings), Mordekaiser would be literally Sauron (also from the lord of the rings). This last point is my theory, but i think is obvious the return of mordekaiser is more near than ever :p

This cinematic is actually LoL setting the stage for the MMO which they confirmed around the same time of the video release. They're tying a lot of storylines together by introducing a universal "evil" that gives all the opposing factions a reason to cooporate. Up until now, LoL has had a ton of lore, but most of it has been stand-alone and not really tied together on a grander scale. For lore-fans like myself, this cinematic gave promise of a whole new level of storytelling that Riot is starting to invest in.

Yeah, Edgeboy Viego is gonna need to be stopped. His story was that he was trying to bring back Isolde, his wife thay he spent too much time with while not ruling his kingdom, back to life before he turned the Blessed Isles to the Shadow Isles. It also doesn't Isolde tried to stab him, which why there is a black triangle in his chest.
