Richard is proof that beating your kids doesn't make them decent people. Also the DM is a horrible human being, I couldn't imagine sitting at a table, having someone screaming at another at another player every single session. I would complain to the DM, because that doesn't sound fun. And if I was a DM and told someone to stop doing something, and then found out they went to the person's house they were bothering, I would boot them right then and there. OP shouldn't have warned him, just called the police at that point, get a restraining order.

Proves that in some cases at least, abuse just makes more abusers. I really hope his boyfriend dumped him, especially with the "friends with benefits" bs with Tia. I am in full support of healthy poly relationships but considering Richards behavior, I'm inclined to believe that Richard was either just flat out cheating or manipulated and abused his boyfriend into agreeing with an "open relationship". With all that threat of violence, gaslighting, verbal abuse with a sprinkle of ableism, possessiveness and victimhood mentality, I'm honestly worried about the poor guy that dated him. Maybe both his parents were also abused but since we don't know that and the chance both of them were abuse victims too is relatively small, we can't say that for sure. Either way they all suck.

When both OP and the problem we’re planning on leaving the game the DM couldn’t except that. That’s why no matter what problems were happening even to the point to where the OP finally left the DM was still asking for “one more game“ Because in their mind if anybody leaves that breaks momentum and nobody else will want to play. Abuse is abuse it doesn’t matter in what manner it is delivered it doesn’t matter and what’s the verity with matters is how you deal with it. And the problem player decided to become an abuser

This is why the fight will always be a forever fight. Because you always have the scumbags who are in the oppressed class and full on use their position to terrorize others who are fearful of being labeled whatever phobia. And well anyone who's a Star Wars fan knows what leads to the dark side. Fear which they install in people with the labels leads to anger resentment at being labeled something they're not. Which leads to hate hating the group for having someone like that within their group. When a nice reminder is certain people do not represent a group as a whole there will always be scumbags and every other group that will always always take advantage of their position in the group to get their way or avoid the beating day so rightfully deserve. And the worst ones the traders who take advantage of their identity to con things out of people! These are the true Traders not the ones who turned hate towards their own kind those people are traitors but they're lesser compared to the ones who would con and use the past history all that shit just to be pieces of worthless shit. @paulman343402 жыл бұрын
It was likely the latter! I'm certain Robert is just as abusive to them as he was to the poster. It just ended up being the shitty well since he's not being abusive to me excuse even Tessa doesn't get completely out of this because the friends with benefits part that I start to wonder if she ran into Robert when she left the room only coming back in after he left with the promise that he just wanted to talk to the poster and not having Tessa around with me and they have a fair talk which was complete lie he just didn't want Tessa ganging up on him. She must have felt horrible when she came back to see the poster in the state they were but likely lie to herself that Robert kept his promise which we know from the posters side he did not and physically grabbed her. The DM is a full on coward who knows Robert's personality they know the very moment they call Robert out on his shit their friendship is over yet I have to wonder why protect such a friendship to begin with. Which is why I believe Robert was mentally abusive and that's likely why they were emotionally abusive their attempt to dismiss emotional abuse is because if he dismiss it then he'll have to admit he's a piece of shit so as long as you can tell himself it doesn't exist he can lie that what he did to the poster in that room wasn't abuse despite the very fact laying their hands on her and forcing his face and hers wasn't intimidation tactic and was physical abuse. For anyone thinking Tessa pull the karma Houdini because the poster and then got together in the end I'm sure she's still feeling horrible for all her attempts to downplay what Robert did for the protection of their friends with benefits relationship. I know this because I did exactly what Tessa did to an old friend in Middle school. Sided with the bullies who jointly mess with us to be left alone and even join them so I didn't even worse. Would knock me out of it because only last of the month was I went way too far I started taunting my old friends with a jumping that they had planned and told me and I would have fully have joined in this I now know in my mind as much as I tried to say no I wouldn't. He had done the sensible thing he told the teacher and they all got in trouble I only skirted away because I was still known as a well-behaved kid and they couldn't truthfully understand why I would do something like that. I had lied through my teeth I was warning him as a friend. And I threw myself at his Mercy after they believe me because I had to my god what have I done once it finally dawned on me in that very second. He had forgiven me I don't know we became friends again he trusted me even believed my lie. But I could never forgive myself for what I did and I still hold it now at 35! But believe me after that I never did something like that ever again. But I know Robert's fate. Boyfriend's going to dump his ass. DM in other friend that he was best man to are going to eventually grow tired of him he's going to Triple down now that he lost his favorite punching bag which was the poster and they're going to eventually have to either put him in his place or well except being the new punching bag once he starts scaring off newbies who end up crossing the line. By crossing the line I'm referring to what made him start hating the poster. The best I can see is when he finally crossed the line and actually does something that gets his dumbass arrested. At that point you're going to see them play the oh I didn't know he was going to do that instead of taking a side and cowardly throwing him under the bus and distance himself from him he's going to call them out on how they saw his bad behavior and they said nothing about it before but it was easy to throw other people into the bus the very moment he screwed up however they can no longer excuse being around him or making excuses for him but yeah they're going to forever be held by the fact that they were just as bad as him no matter how much they try to downplay they're involvement. And I say good anyone willing to stand on the side of an abuser and make excuses for them and throw them under the bus when it finally gets too hot and only when it becomes too hot that they can no longer just pretend they couldn't have known his bad behavior or the abuse. It's why the DM was playing hands off and pretending. And likely had a oh thank God when the poster chose to leave the game! Hell the poster needs to know the DM wasn't being nice when they helped kill off her first character. They did it because they knew Robert was angry and that if they gave him what he wanted he would calm down. All they did was indulge in abusive piece of shit! But that's the thing here as much as they pretend to be friends Robert has no friends Robert has no lovers Robert only has people who get something out of him and decided his abuse was tolerable because he at least in the beginning was smart as is kind always start out as and knowing who to abuse!. And when to be abusive to what is their "thralls", let's be real they have no friends. There are victims and there are thralls that they call friends/lovers. I'm sure the DM killed off the poster second character and a gruesome satisfying manner for Roberts calmness which may placate him for a while but I'm sure Robert saw the poster around campus looking better in chipper in that pissed him off but he no longer had any justification likely was worn by the DM that if he harassed the poster not that they're no longer in the game that would have been the final nail and Robert's Behavior would not have been ignored. But then you should have reported his ass long before so that doesn't make the DM any good either! We know someone like Robert will eventually dump or be dumped by his friends quote and will eventually find true friends AK those who are just as equally scumbag as they are the social justice crowd who do the same thing he does use their identity as a shield. Call everyone they don't like phobic when they don't have a single shred of evidence I don't blame the poster for being defensive because this is why these idiots used calling everyone they didn't like or would Railroad by calling them Nazis. Knows how they stopped all of a sudden or they rarely use it! Because they remove the power of the word! It has no meaning or influence anymore. Because they destroyed all that I miss using it. And they misused it because they know they couldn't win any arguments so they derailed until any conversation got off of the point of the conversation and ended up being proving whatever you truly are the bad word or not which wasn't the point! Always remember scum will never change their ways until they get a nasty dose of reality. He was terrible because nobody was trying to stop him. But while we all know what will happen he'll finally gain solitude. He'll scream and Screech about how everyone is against them how no one can understand him blah blah blah and will be bitter until finally he has no more anger to burn off of and essentially have to accept he fucked up his own life! No one did anything to him he did it to himself

Richard needs some effing therapy. Or possibly dial down his T dosage. Actually now that I think about it, overdoing his testosterone dosage AND prior trauma might be causing issues. Especially depending on how far back that story was and if he was self-medicating.

That Richard sounded like a real Dick. Even if he did suffer from trauma himself, that doesn’t mean he shouldn’t treated others as badly or worse than he was treated. This story made me legit mad.

Sometimes you just gotta go with the classics, even with kitties! ❤ As for that story... The fact that Richard kept using his own history of physical abuse to gaslight OP about the constant verbal emotional and mental abuse that he was subjecting OP to was just awful. I definitely feel (as others have probably already commented) that Richard should absolutely have had the police called on him with that assault at the school. I also think that OP should not have used 911 as a warn-off but rather just dialed it while he ranted outside their door with no warning at all! This guy sounds horribly dangerous and it's only a matter of time before he hurts someone seriously badly. I hope he got help in the last 7 or more years since this story happened. I would say that I would also not mind if he'd been locked away from people but that would mean that he actually DID harm someone and I don't wish that.

This is why people should be evaluated as individuals, on a case-by-case basis, NOT by whatever category they fall into. Sometimes, 'marginalized' people ARE the bullies - sometimes people who have been through horrible things get warped into horrible people themselves, or at the very least, people who badly need help to sort their lives out. No one should pick on anyone else for who or what they are, but no one should use what they are as a weapon to hurt other people, either. Speaking personally, I don't really CARE what categories you may or may not fall into - I care about what sort of a person you are. If you're a nasty person, you're a nasty person - end of story.

To be completely honest, I really hope this story is fake, because if it is not, then... it's incredibly sad on so many levels. This Brian's past must've been really hard to make him in this kind of person, but that's no excuse for abusing so much other people. And to be honest, what was the DM even doing? Brian was his friend, ok, but letting a player scream at the top of his lungs to another one for two years? And for some reason, that's the least he has done. Shame on everyone, really.

I’ve never understood people getting angry about kill stealing in tabletops when most of the time exp is shared equally.
@pLanetstarBerry2 жыл бұрын
We had a guy in my old group where his previous group had a house rule- whoever dealt the killing blow either got bonus xp or half the monster's xp (I forget which, but the aim was to make the game more competitive). He didn't even realize it was a house rule until after our first fight where he got a kill and had to be told that that wasn't how we did things here. Looked at us like we kicked his dog and sulked for a good 20 minutes. Anyways, he kept forgetting that and would get huffy if anyone else got a kill in. Especially the healer. Didn't appreciate my quip that the other player's actions was "preventative care" when he was pulling out his "he's just the healer he shouldn’t be allowed to fight" bs. I'm just glad I don't have to deal with him anymore. Let's just say this player was playing blackout mode for "That Guy" bingo and leave it at that.

@@pLanetstarBerry If that kind of games makes them happy good for them. Just keep that away from my table. That did not sound fun. Had something kinda similar in a board game called decent journeys in the dark 1sr edition where some monsters gave extra money to whoever killed them

As a DM, I'd be damned if I'm going to let one of my players yell at another player at my table. I'd give them the option to either stop the bullshit or leave. I don't want nor do I need anyone being disrespectful in my game and in my persents.

The fact Richard tried to use the whole transphobia card seriously rubbed me the wrong way. It’s always people like this who use it just to avoid facing consequences. And hearing the fact he has these fights with their boyfriend, yeah, Im siding with OP. Fuck people who do this kind of behavior.

I feel so bad for OP in this story, and I hope she's doing better now. I can't imagine staying friends with someone so absolutely vile and clearly abusive. I worry for Richard's boyfriend because cowering in fear with your hands over your head is NOT a sign of autism. As someone who was both physically and verbally abused, I also have a similar visceral reaction to being yelled at like OP, and would have reacted the same way.

That marginalized group shield is a pretty effective tool though. Used to be if you wanna be a bully you had to be stronger than everyone and beat people up who didn't like what you did. Now you just need a colorful flag and people will fight for you.

Didn't think I'd bump into this story again, heard it first on Den of the Drake, my reaction to that video a year ago. Somehow, I feel uncomfortable from this story and I wasn't there to experience it, I'm just the guy being told it by a cartoonish dragon KZbinr (Now a cartoonish dog KZbinr). Richard, dude, take note, the better person is the person who doesn't sink to the level of those who wronged them. OP played the high road and rolled with the punches as long as they could. You, you're a capital A @$$hole, if you still smugly think you're in the right after all this, there's no helping you. P.S. DM, that ending, da fak.

This story is entirely a failure on the part of the DM, there comes a time to kick problem players regardless of ones friendship with them. Someone like this will engage in this kind of behavior again, unfortunately people like this are often tolerated. I began playing RPGs in 1982, and have tolerated abusive players in the past as both a player and DM for the simple reason in the past new players were hard to find and groups even harder. But now with the rise of RPG popularity It's much easier to find players and groups, glad to hear OP found a new group and wasn't chased form the hobby. I know this is unrequested advice for events long past and we all handle situations differently. That being said, here's what I feel OP could have done to shut Richard down. First say something at the table, call Richard out in front of everyone. It's much easier to get the group to rally around you when it's actually happening and more often than not other plays have an issue with it too. Second, when he assaulted her on campus, there should have been a report filed with the collage admin. Third, when he came to her door, there should have been no threat to call the police, just call them, let him explain why he's standing there banging on the door when they arrive. In the end OP did do the best thing she could have and left, it's just unfortunate she took 3 years of the crap first and was soured on RPG's for so long.

Richard is a perfect example why some people can be the most horrible and it's the justification for it. He was abuse so he cannt be an abuser and no one was abused like him so there are even real victims. It every one rls fault and he justify in what ever he does to feel good about himself.
