What is your opinion on the form of vitamine b1 called thiamine tetrahydrofurfuryl disulfide, or TTFD? I bring it up because I;ve been told it's the most absorbable and therefore most potent of any form of vitamin b1.

I didn’t know about thiamine until 2014 when my friend was in the hospital for the third time detoxing from a drinking binge and on oxygen for COPD after chain smoking the whole time as well. After each detox he was ready to conquer the world and stay sober, but it only lasted for a week and the high would wear off. So this time I asked what was in his iv drip. I was told thiamine, niacin and electrolytes. When he got out I had already purchased these (and other) vitamins and he started them on the way home from the hospital. The niacin was only for the first few days, but he kept taking the b1 with b12, d3 and magnesium. He didn’t have a single craving to drink for the next six years. In the 7th year he began to smoke again and eventually his health declined. He passed quickly from cancer in ‘21. But for 6 years he was alcohol free which I attribute to b1.

There was a Hong Kong Veteran survivor I had the privilege of getting to know who passed away in 2021 at 100 years young. He suffered from Beriberi from being held captive as a prisoner of war in the concentration camps for 4 (four) years between the age of 20 - 24 before they were liberated. They were basically giving rice when they were given food. I wish I could have told him about benfotiamine 20 yrs. before he passed away when I initially met him because he tried everything - except this. He's now no longer suffering in the spirit world.

Benfotiamine is excellent too for insomnia I always take it in evening or in the night a couple hours before bedtime. It has helped me with insomnia. More studies need to be done it's an excellent vitamin.

@@Daves2024 Life Extension’s Boron! It comes with a bit of B2 (Riboflavin) because Boron depletes a little bit of your B2, so it’s a safe way to take it I think the dosages are 3mg Boron per pill, and I take 2x a day (morning and night). Sometimes 3x a day as people have reported taking Boron in higher dosages with very few side effects; it’s one of the safer supplements. Boron also naturally raises testosterone in men among other things! So what I’ve been taking for minor back pain is Vitamin D3, K2, Magnesium Glycinate (2x at night, sometimes more) and Boron. Strongly considering adding Benfotiamine and other B vitamins

Dr. Biernackie, I have several conditions that have contributed to suffering from Dry and Wet Beri Beri. I am really praying to get off bed rest and get going again! I am a gastric bypass patient, have had a severe bleed from a perforated ulcer about 6 years ago. After this bleed, my body started putting weight on to the point now I am back to pre bypass weight! We believe my body was triggered into starvation mode. The only thing that interrupted this weight gain was 3 months of Keto/20 carbs/day, exercise and fasting 22 hours a day! So now I am healed up from an Achilles tear, broken heel (screws and plate repair) and a shattered big toe amputation. Over this past 6 months I had edema and contracted a skin infection which required serious wound care and compression bandaging by nurse clinicians at the hospital. All told I have been off my feet for the better part of 2 years! I am Finally getting up and going. With my B1 and B12 defficiency as chronic as it is, I am hitting every angle I can. We did blood tests CBC, FBC and I now take the following supplements: (Dr. Recommended) B1 500mg - with 100mg magnesium Pure - Therapro B12 drops 3 types cobalamin (Methyl, Hydroxo, Adenosol) 1000iu 2x daily 1mg Folic Acid - daily 50mg Zinc - daily 650mg Ferrous Sulfate 20,000iu D3 Not Dr. Recommended: *Benfotiamine 300mg + L Leucine 40mg All but the Benfotiamine are recommended by my PCP. My biggest problem that I am looking for some hope on is I have ataxia and cannot balance when walking. I use a walker any time I walk more than 50 feet. Do you believe that this supplementation can overcome the ataxia and muscle instability? How long would you think is reasonable to believe I will feel better. I was sleeping 14 hours a day and any time I got up I would be wiped out tired in as little as 30 minutes! Then my muscles in my glutes and legs hurt for like a day after! I am very hopeful after seeing some of the testimonials. Since I started taking B1 a couple of weeks ago, I noticed night burning sensation in my feet has all but disappeared! I wonder if the triple threat B12 is helping there dramatically. I just pray it's not placebo effect! I want to get well. I would like to go back to a Keto/Carnivore 20 carb/day to drop this weight. I have seen that varying the fasting window helps to avoid long plateaus. Any advice you can throw my way I would appreciate! It sucks being such a mess physically!

that much zinc can deplete copper which you ar elikely already low in, copper also helps with iron absorption and may reduce or eliminate the nead for iron supplements if you're eating carnivore (with lots of red meat). folic acid can be problematic for some, look for methylfolate. other (methylated) b complex vitamins are also important (b2, niacin, etc.)

I started taking Benfotimide along with Alpha lipoic acid over a month ago, and I was shocked at how much better the neuropathy pain and restless leg syndrome subsided. I had to go off of it for two weeks because of some testing I was gonna have done and sure enough the numbness in my feet the prickly feeling the restless leg syndrome. All of it was coming back. I restarted taking it two days ago I haven’t seen much notable difference yet, but I’m confident that I will because it works so well the first time I started taking it recently.

Phosphatydl serine, in softgel form, can also greatly help with neuropathic related pain. Since it helps with brain activation, it helps with the proprioception of/ to the extremities, and even the mylen sheathe and the nerve fibers and nerve endings. So you function on all cylinders, so to speak, when you are walking and active. It's a real hidden gem in the nutraceutical realm. Great helps in many neurological related conditions. Even Alzheimer's and dementia, to a certain degree. 🌞

Supplementation with alpha lipoic acid is unfavorable in a thiamine deficiency; make sure that the vitamin B1 status is in order before using alpha lipoic acid. Alpha lipoic acid may lower vitamin B8 levels. Neuropathy can also be the cause of vitamin B12 deficiency! The cause is a greasy substance called Meyeline that surrounds the nerves and serves as a protective layer. When this substance is reduced, symptoms appear.

In humans, after a single dose, the maximum thiamine concentration was dose-proportional and was reached after 1-2 h with an elimination half-life of 6-14 h inversely depending on the dose. EONutrition has a lot of info on dosing, and there's an interesting vid with this Elliot Overton interviewing Daphne, who took B1 for 3 mo and improved her Parkinsons symptoms 80%. Some go into commplete remission. It's very good for IBS, slow or fast motility - some need to take 1,800mg/day (gradually) for say fibromyalgia, so the dose varies from person to person. My sister who has Parkinsons, has taken just 100mg sublingual B1 and she's seen some improvement in just one week.

@@meagiesmuse2334 Dr. Eric Berg says to take 3x the dose it says on the bottle which might be too much for some but from what I gather from Elliot Overton, you need to take a larger amount for fibromyalgia. Dr. Berg highly recommends taking non-fortified nutritional yeast flakes along with the B1 to make it more effective. If the B complex is synthetic, you'll get cyanocobalamin which is bound to cyanide. You will more than likely get much help! If it were me, I'd get off sugar.

You may have to take lemon water first, to let your gall bladder release if youre low on stomach acid. That causes "neck jam" according to Dr. Berg. I had low stomach acid, neck myellitus caused by arthritus, and was gluten intolerant so I was not absorbing thiamine. My nerves in my back drew my muscles up into a knot and displaced a rib. Horrible pain below my right shoulder. First I tried B vitamins plus magnesium with slight improvement. 😅Gluten free diet was the second thing. Then the lemon water helped a lot. Finally benfotiamine is working much better on the nerve damage.

However, most gastroparesis is tied to diebetes. My wife's is NOT caused by diebetes, but clearly there is some form of nerve damage that has caused her gut motility to slow. So, Benthothiamine can help with nerve damage (which might help her gut repair itself), but Allithiamine can help with gut motility issues. Which form do you think might be best for my wife?
