I’m a huge metal head and a guitarist of 27 years but let me tell you, I’ve seen Chris Stapleton several times in concert and the guy is one of the most talented people on the planet. His song writing, guitar playing and vocals are incredible and the shows he puts on are just awesome. Chris wrote a ton of songs for other country singers for years until his wife told him he should write his own stuff. He also has immense stage fright but you could never tell. Dude is lightning in a bottle and just far exceeds what I once thought about him.

Chris is country, Chris is blues, Chris is rock, Chris is soul. The true measure of the greats is an inability to fit them comfortably in any given genre. With this song specifically, you could tell me it came from Motown or Sun Studios in the 60's and I'd believe you. The purity of the blues and soul in this song are timeless. Truly one of the greats

Another great bluesy Stapleton song is “Cold”. Also check out his Metallica cover of “Nothing Else Matters”. And his cover of “Whipping Post”. Man, I can’t recommend enough songs by this guy. He is just too good, and I’m not even a big country guy. Even though he’s technically country, the fact that he is so heavily rock, blues, and folk is what makes him so good. That and his amazing voice! Because country is so popular, the fact that he is even the least bit country and labeled as such is what makes him so damn popular and why so many people have discovered him and fallen in love with his music.

He'll be remembered as one of the greats of all time. Usually you like music because it affects you emotionally with great songs and writing and singing. But every once in a while, you get someone who you just are in awe over. Someone other great musicians just watch and say, what?! They come out there and do things that are so extraordinary, yet make it look effortless and no one else can do it. People like Pavarotti or Karen Carpenter or Celine Dion or Freddie Mercury. They cross music genres too, taste-wise. Meaning, people who may not be into their genre make an exception for them because you just have to.

@@Rosannasfriend I saw the name, but I'm not really interested in country, which he technically is, so I skipped over him.

Well I’m glad you gave him a shot today. He’s really amazing. Listen to “Tennessee whiskey “. That’s a song that’s been covered by many people, you probably had realized who sang it but it’s his song.

Chris Stapleton - Either Way It leads right into this songs message, absolutely wonderful to listen to them both in succession!

Elizabeth, I always start out early in your analysis/reaction giving you a thumbs up, but as the song goes on, I'm so disappointed that I can't give you another, and another, and another. Your joy causes me to appreciate the songs on an even deeper level than I previously had. It's just awesome to see someone have such a total reaction to the emotion of every aspect of a song! Thank you for bringing light! Betty

Imagine the solo parts at the end as the arguments they had it their relationship. The repetition are the words that were said over and over again.

Love your analysis and reaction. I love how you just get so tickled and literally giggle by amazing talent and musicians. Chris Stapleton is awesome and I’m going to see him soon in concert - can’t wait. The Best Country Singer is (arguably) George Jones. Would love it if you watched one of his videos and let us know your thoughts. He is very tradition but an amazing vocalist. Check out “the grand tour” or He stopped loving her today” or something older like “mr. Fool”. Amazing!

So I get home from work today feeling a bit depressed, a bit blah. After a couple of small chores, some reading, and a plate of spaghetti, I sit down to relax with TCV. Then, not only am I listening to some amazing music and feeling a bit better, but about 10-15 minutes in, and I get treated to this burst of giggles that is so infectious and uplifting!! And suddenly I realize that I'm smiling and giggling right along with!! Thank you for helping me find a much much better mood!!!! Now... That guitar solo! Mesmerizing!! Hypnotizing!! Captivating!! Just... WOW!! Maybe not the typical 'lets cram about 403 notes into each measure' solo that gets us metalheads all reved up. But this has got to be on some official top X number of solos list. Am I right? And lastly, while we're on country, here's my plug for Sugarland and Jennifer Nettles. kzbin.info/www/bejne/np3UoJKJotaWhbc kzbin.info/www/bejne/bXzUm6SubqaNj7s
