This event was from February 3, 2024. The SAN GABRIEL MOUNTAINS TRAILBUILDERS GROUP lead the way for another trail maintenance/restoration project at the Upper Falls/Gabrielino Trail in the Big Santa Anita Canyon. Gordon and Alan together with 20 other volunteers converged at the closed gate in Santa Anita Ave that leads to Chantry Flats parking. This part of the Angeles National Forest is still under closure order since the 2020 Bobcat Fire, My main participation in this event was to document it, hoping that by sharing it somehow will help bring public awareness and attract more volunteers in the upcoming projects. This Gabrielino Trail goes all the way to Mount Wilson and beyond and passes thru Spruce Grove trail camp. It is also closed to the historic Sturtevant Camp. The group did a lot of restorations this time but more work is needed to complete the task and make it ready for the re-openning.
