Low key a little mad it’s not just part of the Viper line. I would pay $899-$999 for a 1-8 FFP Viper. Still seems awesome though.

Maybe the tendency of people to change from minimum zoom to maximum zoom without messing with the inbetween plays a factor, I know it does for me. I like 3-9s cuz 3 is the most I can deal with for close stuff and more than 9 means I can barely find the target at the maximum distance I shoot freehand. I prefer 2-7s for the same reason, plus scout scopes are so easy to use.

I’m bought this. Wanted the 10 power but, for me, the reticle is an important choice. I vote for more reticle options. I know…. More choices creates more inventory and stockage issues. Or offer as special order? A Vortex sight torque tool? Hadn’t seen before. Woo hoo. Please put fastener sizes in instructions. Why not a tool free battery cover? I wish Vortex would invent a better rifle ‘bench’ rack/tool.

I'm looking to replace the scope on my 7mm-08 bolt action rifle. When I got the original scope I was focused on light weight low power for east coast big game hunting. I chose the Leupold 2-7X32. Would this LPVO be a good replacement. I see you use a 40" reference for ranging. That's pretty close to the height of the back of a big buck's back. How's the eye relief on this scope? I think the scope height wouldn't change much from my low mounting because the tube diameter is close to the objective diameter of the Leupold. So that's good. I think this would an ideal scope for snap shooting in the brush with illumination on at 1X and the would still be adequate for my maximum range of 400 yards when hunting at 8X using the BDC. I suspect you'd have some way of setting my zero so the BDC would be accurate for my load?

The bdc is calibrated for 5.56 (best with 55gr at 3100-3150 fps, but gets close with 62/69/77gr as well. A 7mm isn’t going to line up with the bdc with just a simple zero change. I mean the subtensions will be some random yardages, but “5” for 500 yards on the reticle isn’t going to be on at all.
@denisleblanc4506
@denisleblanc4506 2 жыл бұрын
@@tidypog3272 That's why I was asking about the eye relief and should have also mentioned eye box. I realize the eye box might be tighter at high power. Their discussion about parallax is also a plus. I would gain the kind of red dot on low power for darker conditions and have a slightly easier time at shooting with both eyes open. Yes it will be a lot heavier but at my age, I don't move around as much when hunting and the added weight will reduce felt recoil a little.

A FFP 1-8 or 1-10 with a EBR 9.5 reticle, which would be a bolder EBR 9 with longer stadia and only the center dot, I don’t need that donut. Just make that center dot brighter than f&@k. With roughly the same quality glass as the razor.

Why? The bdc isn’t going to line up at all. Get a mil or moa reticle scope or Primary Arms has a 300 blackout specific bdc scope.
@GeorgiaBoy1961
@GeorgiaBoy1961 2 жыл бұрын
It won't work - the BDC isn't calibrated for 300BO. Get a Primary Arms 1-6x ACSS 7.62x39/300 Blackout instead, which is designed for use with that cartridge. Vortex ought to make it a priority to get their own model out in that configuration, because right now they have no competitor.
@brenn330
@brenn330 2 жыл бұрын
Who on earth relies on BDC marks from any manufacturer for 300 blk when the ammo variation is massive? Stadia are just reference marks to utilize after confirming DOPE. I can't imagine folks out there hunting with a "300 blk BDC" and expecting it to actually work with their load and barrel length.
@GeorgiaBoy1961
@GeorgiaBoy1961 2 жыл бұрын
@@brenn330 - BDCs have their time and place, especially for people who take the trouble to know what they can do and what they cannot. Others, such as yourself, find traditional systems a better fit. There's no universal "right answer" that fits everyone, only what works for your needs at the time. And it is germane to note that Primary Arms does an exceptional job of writing their owner's manuals to inform the user which loads work with which barrel lengths and so on. Vortex, to name one competitor, would do well to follow their lead - because their owner's manuals are not up to snuff, in my view. They could be better done.

Anybody who knows anything about shooting long range dosen't want a set yardage bdc retical. If your not shooting the same bullet at the same speed in witch the retical is calibrated for its completely useless. What if someone wants to use this on their hunting rifle. We want moa or mill so it's versatile.
@minuteofman1776
@minuteofman1776 2 жыл бұрын
LPVOs are not purpose-built Long Range Optics. Most of these will find their home on a 14.5" or 16" General Purpose Rifle using 55gr bulk ammo with a predictable trajectory. Within those parameters, BDCs make sense
@shitsngiggles8371
@shitsngiggles8371 2 жыл бұрын
@@minuteofman1776 I do plenty of long range shooting and at 600 yards a 50 fps shift in velocity makes a big enough difference it needs to be compensated for. The chances you get two of the same guns to shoot that close in velocities is not impossible but not usually the case. The retical is only good to 400, if your shooting what it's intended for. Like I said previously not everyone who buys this scope is gonna put it on an AR, with 1×8 that's gonna work good for hunting as well.
@ZildjianMan30
@ZildjianMan30 Жыл бұрын
@shitsngiggles This is meant for a 'regular' AR15, like the previous commenter stated. Good for sport/fun, target, and duty (police). This is not for extreme distances, competition, or custom loads. I would even use it for hunting. It's like watching a good action movie - it will be reliable entertainment, but it's no Gone With The Wind. Usage and expectations should match. I think your expectations are too broad to match the design of this model line.

$599.00 “…a touch cheaper than the 1-10 Gen III Razor…” What am I missing?!?!? The best price I can find a Razor Gen III HD for is $2499.00. The MSRP on this scope is less than a 1/4 the price of the Razor. It’s about 40% of the price of a Razor 1-6 Gen II. I have a Razor 1-6 Gen II and a Strike Eagle 1-6x24, and I will never buy another Razor for an LPVO. What is the [purpose] of an LPVO? When you put that question into its true context the Razor does not provide such a significant difference to justify the cost over a Strike Eagle. If you have the money and just want a Razor LPVO, go for it. But I won’t be buying any more Razor LPVOs. The Strike Eagle line of LPVOs will be my go to line if I buy anymore.

And you put that optic or any LPVO in your military loadout at any capacity ...I'd jump across my desk and cut you in half with my NCO sword. This optic is NOT a warfighting tool, its an emergency home defense tool and emergency sub 300 yard poor mans hunting only. And in all good candor it's a horrible reticle at either task. Inferior hardware and it will get you killed even if youre well trained adjusted to it. Its simply not enough...of anything.
