WAHOO and a SMOKER!! | Trolling the Treasure Coast for Pelagic fish

We set out of St Lucie Inlet trolling the Treasure Coast for Pelagic fish. Giant schools of Bonito were in shallow where we wanted to target Mahi Mahi. After catching several Bonito and a small Kingfish we headed deeper and caught a big SMOKER Kingfish on a Ballyhoo and pink Seawitch combo. We decided to go even deeper to the Bluewater in the Gulfstream. We came across the front of a local hump and had a Wahoo smash a pink Zooker right behind our teasers on the short rod. We stopped and picked up a few Snapper on the way in to finish off a decent day. Our trolling rods consist of TLD 25's on Ocean Master trolling rods and a TLD 50 with a custom rod for the shotgun.

I’d say that was a good day on the water, Wayne. That king really gave you a good workout. Had to cut his tail off to fit in that cooler. Great haul buddy. Those pelicans were rewarded with some fresh fish at the end.

Nice catches. Do you have to keep the head on the fish? Threw away some good meat to fit the fish in the cooler. I guess it doesn't matter when you get all that meat. Those pelicans knew what was up. Good day out there. 👍

So the smoker was the king fish? I'm guessing king mackerel? I'm not a salt water expert by any means. My dad used to get invited to go out with his clients sometimes and would catch king mackerel. They were pretty good if I remember right.
