While Warframe's New War campaign released at the tail end of 2021, as a lapsed player, it wasn't until recently that I experienced this 3 year old piece of content. My thoughts and opinions of the New War lie within! Enjoy! 🍻

DE really messed up trying to introduce Duviri as a new extension of the new player experience. In the very beginning when you made a new account you could even start directly from Duviri instead of Vor's Prize. It was meant to add flavor to the early game and give players a taste at the quality of later content since the early game of warframe has been historically very confusing for new players.
@IronworkerGaming
@IronworkerGaming 4 ай бұрын
Oh wow! I didn't realize that you could hope straight into Duviri from the word go! I can kind of see why DE would want to give new players a little variety, but that certainly would cause some muddying with the narrative of past campaigns. 👍👍

I don't disagree with the criticism about the lack of Warframe gameplay, and you're mostly spot on as to why. DE in recent years had been pushing a lot of content to change things up in terms of tradition Warframe content. Part of that is player burnout, part of it was also burn out on the devs (Imagining working on the same game for 10 years straight), and another part is that Warframe's gameplay is so fast and wild it's hard to designed 'balanced' content since players can blast through missions in seconds. On one hand it can be a refreshing break, but a lot of players started to share your sentiment after New War and Duviri. Thankfully there's a new creative lead now who was the former community director, and seems to be steering the game back to the core WF experience. Zariman and Whispers in the Wall was a fresh of breath air in that regard.

I can definitely appreciate DE's attempts to switch things up! Destiny (which I've spent the last 10 years with) seems like it's fallen into the "just stick to your guns" mentality and failed to really innovate, leaving the game feeling rather stagnant to me. So even if a "change of pace" doesn't necessarily align with what I'm looking for, when a game developer is willing to innovate, I find it very commendable! That being said, if Angels of the Zariman has more of a focus on the core Warframe elements, that makes me very excited to dive into that campaign! I appreciate you sharing your perspective! 😁🍻
@godzelda123
@godzelda123 5 ай бұрын
@@IronworkerGaming Completely agree, innovation is necessary but too much can backfire if you abandon the core mechanics. And hopefully you enjoy the next few quests, Zariman is a bit shorter and less cinematic, though Whispers feels like a whole new chapter of the next arch.

Completing Duviri before the new war is an intended possibility. It changes the reveal from a mystery to the excitement of immediatly knowing who it is and where they show up when they go to the other side. And the railjack parts are quite easy as long as you have done at least a little bit of upgrading, but I understand that some people don't like it as much as I do. The intent with the mech is because they wanted that quest to be a baseline so they can use the mech for any content after that without needing to worry about designing it around players who may not have one yet

Sorry for the late reply. You're comment went to the spam folder for some reason. 🤷‍♂️ I do appreciate the insight though! Those Railjack sections certainly would have been a lot easier if I had taken the time do some missions and get things upgraded a bit! 😂👍

First to say, I just stumbled upon your channel and I already like it. Nice work. And about New War... I played The New War when it came out... Hells, I even took a day off from my job, jost so I can be rested and to enjoy the quest. And I loved the opening, and giving us to play other factions, and to play Teshin. Now, the Drifter part... Honestly, most players guessed who that might be, since it was talk about it and we even saw him in 2019 Duviri Paradox teaser. But that didn't really change the excitement. Necramech was there because... well they had to put it somewhere. Because, Neckramechs are not something most players enjoy playing... They have their place on certain missions, but overall, its another content island, so DE tried to connect it all somehow, but didn't want to suffocate us with it. Now, thing that I wished to see is... This was supposed to be some huge invasion, a huge war... but after the quest, there were no real feel of it. The epic quest was over and now everything is back to what it was. No sentient enemies, no liberating colonies, no attacking and destroying stranded sentient ships... something... anything. We got bounties for Narmer (same bounties, only different enemies) and that is it. It kind of felt like... "Oh huge war is finally over... we fought and bearly won, the Sun was almost destroyed... I guess I will go to farm plastids now"

Thank you very much for your insight on the New War, and I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed the video! Looking back on things, it does seem a bit odd that the war didn't really leave major persistent scars on the overworld. I suppose that could just be chalked-up to the "because video game" reasoning, but it would be really cool if there were lingering reminders of the war scatter around the play spaces. 👍👍

I feel like the necramech was made a requirement intentionally for future content, looking at the game now TNW feels like a “you are now entering the end game, you should have end game stuff” kinda thing. Necramechs did become slightly more relevant with the Lua missions and Whispers in the Walls but otherwise they still are completely avoidable if you hate them. Honestly I’d love to see a new minigame along the lines of Index or ESO where you only use the necramech that will reward necramech arcanes, as well as more incorporation of necramechs into base game modes to make using them feel like a viable option. I’d also love to see them add more mechs, as right now there seems to only be one decent one and one crappy one. Imagine people ditching frames entirely and becoming Voidrig mains lmao.
@IronworkerGaming
@IronworkerGaming 5 ай бұрын
That definitely makes sense. I'm sure for those who had been playing right along, the necessity of a Necramech wasn't really an issue. I am excited to get some more use of it now that I have one though. While it's not nearly as nimble as our Warframes, stomping around in a mech-suit in any game does tend to put a smile on my face! 😂🍻

I just recently started playing (about a few months ago), coming from destiny 2. For me, i love the game. Because of this, when I did the new war, i found the beginng act, where we played many different factions to be a little confusing at first, but Alad V is one funny guy

You do a very good job with reviews. I enjoyed the new war a lot, but mainly the first part when you really felt like everything was hopeless. Felt like what lightfall should have been. The parts in the zariman where they fleshed out the Tenno origin was great too. And i loved the Wally reveal. Glad you enjoyed it overall. Now, im waiting to see the playthrough with the missus. The Railjack sections take 2-3 min with a modded and built Railjack, so it wasn't an issue for people at the time who were preparing months before the quest released. The stealth sections is what most people disliked about this quest, but if you pay attention and go slow and steady they are a walk in the park imo. I absolutely loved this quest cuz i am a lore nerd and this quest answered so many questions and asked many new ones, i also love the subtle way it links to Duviri (And to other future quests; Angels of Zariman/Veilbraker/Whispers in the walls) and the way Drifter drops hints that he was from Duviri if you picked him at the end, although i think Duviri should have never been accessible for new players.

Personally, I really like the Railjack stuff, but I've also spent quite a lot of time doing Railjack stuff and upgrading my ship, so that one kind of comes down to personal preference and what you enjoy from the game. Not all aspects of Warframe are going to be for everyone, and I can see it being a little frustrating or feeling a bit out of place if you don't really engage in some of those aspects and are forced to do so all of a sudden. I will say that in a similar line, if you can get into the railjack section of stuff, I highly recommend giving the Call of the Tempestrarii questline a try, since for me at least it was a lot of fun as far as shorter quests go. You may feel differently however. I do entirely agree on the Necramech part of the quest feeling a bit forced however. I believe I did end up farming my mech fully rather than spending platinum, and it wasn't worth the grind. There is some other content where it comes in handy, so it's not like I wasted my time, but for this questline it felt like they were just including it to be including it.
@IronworkerGaming
@IronworkerGaming 5 ай бұрын
I actually did start the Call of the Tempestrarii last night, and the Railjack does feel a lot better once some upgrades get slapped on it. It still probably a game mode where I would need to be in a specific mood to full embrace it, but I really like that it's there as an option when I'm looking for something a bit different than the base Warframe experience! 😁👍

I don't just mean more time in Narmer as a whole (though that would've been nice), I wish we got more time as NPCs just to hammer home how powerful Waframes are. My biggest hang up was the first Archon fight, I had the one that had the force field that pushed you away. In true Warframe fashion they never tell you how to combat part. Like I don’t expect them to hold my hand, but it would have been nice if the mechanic would have been introduced in some quest piece earlier. I finally got so fed up at the health regen of the boss, that I had to go and look at how to beat the damn thing. Otherwise, I agree with some of the other aspects, railjack parts were entirely too long (granted, I was also using an unleveled set up).

Well you did do the smart thing, Me I was dumb complete fool. I'm a returning player, left warframe for about 2 and a half years. Came back because other games are slowing down atm until new releases of content. Well I spent an entire week farming rep, getting all the parts, Mining, fishing, And then having to wait 3 days to even play the new war was beyond agonizing. If anything that is one of Warframes Biggest Flaws, It 100% wasn't necessary to need the necromech at all let alone needing it for 5mins or less. God the way the had it I thought for sure I was going to need it for balas or you know something cool. But no Escort mission like come the F on. Imagine Needing a Warframe Like Messa or another that is just as annoying as all hell to farm, Making that a requirement to proceed with a new story and then Just have her in the back ground as non playable warframe. Like dude come on now, We used to do missions acting stealthy then they made spy missions that are beyond tedious many if not all of my star chart isn't full because of the simple fact I don't want to be forced into doing things like that all the damn time.
