Beetlejuice is back! After an unexpected family tragedy, three generations of the Deetz family return home to Winter River. @@Werewolf_Korra After reading the lore a bit, apparently the "recently deceased" have to be contained to some general location for 124ish years before they'll be unrestricted....somehow, for some reason.... which means they had been dead for 30some years so that can't be it, unless they were accidentally exercised or they're in the "neitherworld" which is where the office area is along with whateverthehellelse is there because.... presumably beetlejuice had never actually been human as referenced in the movie and the cartoon there are creatures that live among the dead... just confusing AF lol. So I guess it's logical maybe they're taking a really long vacation or something, maybe they got some.... form of jobs, which pay off..... somehow.

The most impressive thing about this trailer is that it didn't show every part of the movie, just gave the basic plot of Lydia needing Beetlejuice's help to save her daughter from the ghost realm and a bunch of zany hijinks and easter eggs for fans of the original. We don't know how or why she was taken, whether Beetlejuice will keep his word, or even who the actual villain is. They literally just showed enough to get me into the theatre and hyped for it :)

I think the reason we're excited to see this movie is because the actors are clearly happy to be there and the same talent is working behind the scenes to recapture the offbeat humor and irreverent joy the original inspired. I feel the same way. I was initially surprised by the fact that Lydia's husband and daughter actually start of as skeptics about ghosts despite the apparent celebrity status Lydia has. According to some test screeners the film really is mostly about Lydia and Astrid. They are basically the main driving force of the plot. It seems Jenna took a lower billing position so as to let the main stars of the original take top billing despite her having more screen time. Speaking of screen time. In a interview with Empire, Keaton also revealed that while Beetlejuice gets more he's not getting as much as you might think. He and Tim made a conscious decision to not overuse him because it would in his words "ruin the film if they did". Keaton said he's best used sparingly because too much would ruin his charm and could become annoying.

I was obsessed with Beetlejuice, Nightmare before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands (basically anything Tim Burton) when I was a kid. I watched Beetlejuice & NBC almost religiously, especially the Beetlejuice cartoon. The only thing that is basically a “honeymoon” is the wedding part-that I know of. But it’s not inappropriate, some of the other movie scenes are but I don’t think the “honeymoon” part is. Most likely if you purchase the dvd, I would proof check it. If not buying it and you see it at the movies, you could look up some movie scenes on KZbin before you take them.

Keaton is a great actor, but honestly I still have reservations. Beetlejuice is immortal and Michel is not. He's visibly older and less energetic... at least from this trailer.
