James Caan the actor was an actual fifth degree black belt and taught fighting techniques to the police department where he lived. He did a movie called the Killer Elite demonstrating how the cane can be used effectively as a weapon in a fight.

I carry a T handle cane. A little longer handle on one side of the shaft. Will this style work or do I need to buy a Hooked cane, like you use, and learn to walk with it? I THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR DESIGN WORK AND TEACHING US OLD FARTS TO PROTECT OURSELVES ! ( and try to overlook the haters! Once a young punk beats the crap out of one of them, they'll pay attention to what you teach. After all, you're showing us old farts, how to throwurt an attack on our person. Teach to do just enough damage to get away from danger...not to kill the perp. THANKS )

Watch many other videos, watch ones where they wear full body padding and helmets and REALLY go at it... You may find a lot of these techniques are a bit too clever to be practical. I'm not saying don't watch all of Hugh Cassidy's vids etc... I would learn EVERYTHING, coz every situation is different... Also, try to get a hold of one of those old US army hand to hand combat manuals. I remember one that had a whole section on stick fighting.. THAT is how Hugh Cassidy should be teaching this stuff! That stuff (in the army manual, is field tested in real situations it works)... that poker stick thrust up there ^ is nonsense when a big guy is coming at you...I hope you don't rely on only this and i hope you never have to anyway!

I have type 4 psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis and I always walk with a Cain do to a very bad hip and spinal problem, and have had to use my Cain for self defense, and well all the training I've had works.

A throat strike can cause major problems for the attacker. A martial arts hit . Striking a wrist or elbow can cause much pain. The face or side of the skull can cause more pain.

Not all disabilities are visible. I'm 35, don't limp and walk with a cane. I am disabled, I don't always need my cane, it just helps with pain management and nobody can legally tell me otherwise or ask questions about my disability. It's a mobility device that doubles as a self defense tool.

What are the odds of the cane breaking when you use some of these moves?

I just started watching, but judging by the price of these canes they're made out of very high quality hard wood and designed specifically with combat in mind. My guess is the chance is pretty low. And if you do manage to break your cane by hitting someone, I'm willing to bet that the fight is probably ending right there. Because if you break the cane, whatever you hit with it is probably worse off. And better yet, good chance a broken cane is gonna end up being pretty sharp. Now you have a stabbing device.

I've have had to use a cane for many years n have 1 encounters by young punks being bullies. The best way is swing sweep strikes n use of the pointed hook itself. That in itself will bring the biggest guy to the ground. I have experience as a Israeli IDPS agent n worked 5 yrs with the US DPS when much younger. I've been all over the world n never once have I seen any agent using a cane. You generally carried a 1911 sidearm n a MP5 with a telescopic/folding stock. Not limited to other arms, but why would you waste your time using a cane? Doesn't make any sense imho. You using those techniques will definitely get you killed in a environment that you shouldn't be present. Use of a sap or black jack will end all your fancy cane fighting techniques. It doesn't work people, you're better off avoiding trouble or run away n stay alive. You'd have to train daily using any of these techniques to even work efficiently against a assailant. My son is a 7th Dan Grand Master n Dojo owner. I've had some experience working with him n others with techniques that work. Not saying a cane wouldn't give you a weapon to fight with in any situation. The hook is your best friend.

I have been studying karate and crav maga for a long time and this kind of system devised by someone who believes himself to be fun, makes me turn the morons, because teaching self defense since what you want to do requires martial skills and preparation and not a set of motionless moves with a walking stick. She dishonors the meaning of self defense with her way of doing it and therefore I can only say to be ashamed and to stop publishing and advertising this criminal activity aimed only for the purpose of an easy and fast quadno from people looking for a way to defend yourself from any aggression. I also add that all the titles indicated by you are non-existent and mostly invented and meaningless. I conclude by saying that those who unfortunately follow the so-called Crav magicians are people who have been through or are afraid of an aggression and often certain people like the present Crav magician do not take advantage of this, inculcating them to have faith in him and in his monkeys inventions to this end. the point of putting himself in serious danger in the event of a real assault.

Why are you a teacher, I like your video up till about 15 minutes ago. What right do you have to teach someone to take another person's life. You're not a judge, Jesus is in Jesus teaches me as my parents taught me to love one another. You're probably going to think of some thought to try to argue about harming your family, but you still need to teach people how to defend yourself without meaning, or wanting to kill someone. You need to rethink how you teach or learn how to be a better teacher. She still teaching is wrong. Is wrong. I pray to God that God change your way of thinking I pray Jesus name I pray amen.
