I like the added production value. One tip for editing: when cutting between camera views on 'sudden' or 'interruptions' inserts showing both Zach and Ray, try having a moment of speech before switching cameras so viewers hear the voice and the cut is motivated. It is easier to follow and less jarring for viewers. You can also do a very slight pan the audio from stereo on Zach's mic when Zach is off camera to help ease the camera angle switch. Other tweaks you may want to try is a fill light to soften the shadow from the key light on Ray's camera angle. Keep up the good work guys!

Hey guys, happy Friday! And be careful, no surfing today, there's a huge storm out there off the coast of NJ! And Ray, you'll need a waterproof watch today! Something I'd like to add when it comes to picking up your new car (before driving off dealership's lot) is to do an inspection. Just like when I used to drop my car off at the dealership for service, they would go around my car and make notations of any dings, scrapes or dents. Well, for the consumers protection, I would do the same thing and even take photos or video if necessary of any damage. I would also inspect to be certain any equipment that's supposed to be there, is there; like floor mats, gas cap, owner's manual and your 2nd key and key fob. You don't want to drive off the lot before checking these things - IMO.

I just made my first car purchase last week, I can confirm it can take a while to Pick up a car from the dealer. We came in after negotiations over the phone and everything was ready for signing then we had to visit the finance lady. Signing went by in 20 min, but the finance lady already had someone in the office who was making a big purchase. And the computer was having problems. Long story short it took around 4 almost 5 hours just to pick up the car, it was 10 when we got home . Be prepared to take a while.

Great advise about insurance. My ex bought a new Harley and when it came time to put it up for the winter he cancelled the insurance instead of suspending it so the lender bought it for him and it sent his payment from $150/mo to $319/mo!!! So yes, never let it lapse or get cancelled.

Wow, I wish the last finance “manager” I dealt with was like the theoretical one you were explaining about slowing down. Last dude I dealt with was rude as hell just tellin my pops sign here here here and talking away like those radio commercials. I told him to slow it down a bit so I can translate a bit to my dad who mostly speaks Spanish and he got upset and called in the salesman to “translate” aka help him rush. And don’t even get me started on that Extra Warranty BS!! Well turns out he dipped as soon as everything was signed and before the salesman even prepped the truck for us. Given it was late Sunday, we could’ve done the transaction the next day if they would’ve asked instead of rushing. And OH!! Apparently he didn’t even know which bank ended up giving us the loan, I had to call back a few times that week just so I can add the lien holder to my insurance!! Love the videos, will definitely be more prepared next time and am MORE than willing to walk if I ever go through that BS again!

Credit apps would be great, for all types of credit. Also, a step by step over view, and how to avoid the credit inquiry hits to the score. Outside finance vs dealer looking for the finance. When do you negotiate the price before you know you can get decent finance or after.

One thing that the finance office never pointed out is that the contract, in legal terms, specifies that it doesn't matter what anyone has told you, salesperson, closer, sales manager, etc. has promised you, you only get what's in the contract. Example, remember Joe Isuzu?

I love it that you guys tell people to update their insurance before delivery. Unfortunately, nowhere I've ever worked does that. It's up to the sales person to do the insurance verification...and it's a drag sometimes. On a side note there are some insurance companies that will not talk to a sales person unless the customer is there or calls previous to give permission. USAA, Geico and Progressive are examples. Local agents will talk directly to the sales person.
@johndamonjr4 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure if it's the same now, but years ago in Texas, your current auto insurance covered your new/used vehicle for upto 30 days. The customer was responsible for speaking to their insurance company and adding the new/used vehicle after taking delivery.
@tomboard14 жыл бұрын
@@johndamonjr That's still true in Ohio but as a sales person the deal was not booked until the insurance verification form wasn't in the deal. Now on a cash deal there is no insurance verification performed...at least nowhere I worked...so that's where I would tell the customer they were fine to drive it home but they'd want to contact their insurance company at their first opportunity.

I didn't sign on that part. Of course, I didn't pick up car since the car is not even at dealership yet. They were saying they paid car to be on dealership but I didn't ask them to bring it to dealership since sales person told me that vehicle is coming to their dealership in a week or two. Is it legal for dealership to insist me to go through this order? I live in new jersey.

I once traded in a car that was registered in someone else's name, and I didn't have the title. I had bought the car from a friend on a take-over-payments basis. I paid the car off, but lost touch with the friend. I hadn't seen or heard from her in years. I explained all this to the dealership where I was trading in the car. They gave me a form for a "lost title" and said I would have to find my friend and have her sign it. The salesman walked away for a few minutes. When he returned, I explained that my friend had just randomly stopped in and I got her to sign the lost title form. He said, "Great!" and they were fine with proceeding with the deal. Pretty shocking!

The lawyer in the office reading every word of the contract. If he is there at the request of a client, I suspect he is charging by the hour and will happily sit there and read slowly. Time equals money! 🤣 and yes, they won’t be able to change one word. If you want that car, you have to sign that contract. It’s that simple.

@adriandenson88554 жыл бұрын
If that’s the best deal on a 2019 then that’s pretty ridiculous... I would say the daily market supply videos should bring some additional light to whether that’s a fair price. IMHO you should be getting 3k lower than the 2020. Don’t forget that the date of manufacturing can vary greatly from the “ model year “
@CarEdge4 жыл бұрын
Ronald my guess is that the car is aged unit and been sitting at the dealership for a while and that you could push them to be a bit more aggressive than that. That vehicle is costing them money sitting on the lot and I'm pretty sure that it would be in their best interest to make it go away. I think you should ask to speak directly to the New Car Manager and see how much more he is willing to go to move an aged unit. Let me know how you make out. Ray

Like Walter Brimley eating oatmeal, its the thing to do. Now he speaks about how he has reinvented himself to the internet age. I dunno this is the type of guy I know I would not buy a car from. Advantages to having auto service done at the dealer vs independent shop? Stevie's into podcasts.
@groovy91254 жыл бұрын
I would only use the dealership for warranty work. Beyond that, I have my own private shop I go to, with mechanics I know and trust. When I was younger and naive, I used to go to the dealership. But then I later realized that the "service writer" is really a commissioned salesman. The more he can write up on your service ticket, the more he can make. Plus, who knows if even half the stuff that they say they did, actually got done?
@melwig28134 жыл бұрын
Dealers will always be the most expensive. The mechanics tend to be much younger and hence less experienced than independent mechanics. Employee turnover is high. At a dealership, you will rarely get the same mechanic twice even when addressing the same persistent problem. The ones I’ve interacted with worked on commission and tended to up sell repair work that isn’t always necessary. I use an independent mechanic. I’ve used him for 25 years. I know his quality of work and his honesty in repairs. Owner/independents have pride in running their own business. Prices charged by independents is very competitive with dealers because they don’t have the hugh overhead.

Leased car primary and co-lessor signature question I have a leased car which is going to be matured this Aug 8, 2020. Its mid sized Hyundai Tucson 2017 SUV. Back then I did not had good credit score and I had to put someone as primary and myself and secondary and lease was signed. Since then I always paid monthly payment and insurance by myself. So now I want to keep same hyundai by myself. I already have a bank loan approved under my name only. Now when I send money to hyundai Finance and want to transfer ownership ie lease do I need to have primary lease come over to sign anything? Reason is we dont have good terms now and I even dont know his whereabout. Or if I opted to return the car to dealer do he needs to come or sign? I dont want to meet or see him. If yes is there anything I can do so that he dont have to come and I do everything by my self?
