Interesting. At the 5:26 mark when Milton is expressing how he feels, Lydia butts in and says "Do you think about how it makes me feel?" Why do you like her?? She manipulated both Uche and Aaliyah because she wanted Uche to end up alone so he’d consider dating her- even though he dumped her and then JUST rejected her. She’s creepy and unstable, tbh. Not to mention the fact that she’s dragging this poor man (Milton) down the aisle SOLELY to make Uche jealous, and Milton is a wonderful person, and deserving of SO much better. The fact that she asked IMMEDIATELY after sitting down in the pods with Uche, “oh my god if get engaged to someone else, what will you do?? How would you feel??”. You could tell that she had that question ready to fire asap. He would feel nothing except bad for the dude you’re using, lady.

@@Peanut_taco_muffin the fact the first words of her vows were “I love you because you chose me” says A LOT about her. @@Peanut_taco_muffinUche would end up alone with or without Lydia's help unless he finds another emotional doormat like Aliyah was. I'm glad Lydia pushed past Aliyahs request not to over share because it made her question Uche more than she normally would. Aliyah was just as bad as Lydia with over sharing her emotions and clinging. It's bad she got hurt in the process but hopefully it didn't lead to her landing with someone controlling like Uche. Now maybe she'll steer towards people more prone to being in a balanced relationship with her, not pushy people she gravitated towards like both Lydia and Uche.

My personal take on Milton is that his rush to get married is to prove himself mature to his family. From personal experience (as the youngest of my family) the way his sister looked at him at the dinner, with the condescending, stoic smirk, was exactly how my older sister (10 years older than me) used to look at me when I tried to express myself. My explanations were always put down or questioned and that really has lasting effects on a person. I had my first child at 22 and now at 27 have I now realised that (although I enjoy being a mother very much) I had my son for selfish reasons. It really was to prove myself as someone to be taken seriously. I feel Milton is doing this with getting married. He wants to prove to his family that he is mature and therefore worthy. edit: spelling

@@terriw919fyi From my experience, the one word I would describe it as is invalidating. Agree with your points. It seems Lydia wants to win the race to the alter after being rejected. Her interest in Milton is based on that and her wanting to control him. Lydia actually seems like the type to change for someone faster than they'd change for her even if she pushes back a bit. You can see her cave in a bit each time Milton doesn't do as she asks about something like if she makes herself more likeable to them they'll more easily do as she asks. Milton is actually quite stubborn so I'm not sure why people think she can manipulate him so easily. She can barely get him to pick up his towels or wear a matching outfit...

I honestly found Lydia to be so insufferable fairly early on, drama aside. She tries to use the “right” talking points about openness, selflessness, being a caring partner, etc., but it comes from a place of insecurity and selfishness. She comes across as caring far more about being in a relationship rather than who she’s in a relationship with because despite how confident she tries to come across, she places SO much importance and self worth on literally just being in a relationship with someone. And ofc being authentic and being yourself is a wonderful thing, but when you receive negative feedback about certain traits you have from many people and they affect your relationships very regularly, the notion of self acceptance is really just toxic because the problem is YOU. Lydia will never be happy and experience a healthy relationship unless she decides to put the work in to heal her very clear insecure attachment issues and focuses on some self growth instead of just finding someone to love her. When you do those things, love will find you at the right time.

At the last dinner Lydia and Milton had, Lydia spoke about her concerns regarding his messiness that truly bothered her which was fine so he at first said that he was doing his best but when she said "if that's your best..wow." He then responded with "I can try harder" but it's like she didn't even catch what he said though. He then expressed how they're BOTH imperfect by bringing up how she handled a specific situation that wasn't pleasing to him either but instead of hearing him on how it made him feel or acknowledging it,(like he did when she spoke on his lack of cleanliness)she proceeded to give a justification on why hearing how she should control her emotions more always bothered her. He at least said I can try harder but she couldn't even say that herself. No type of acknowledgement. It's kind of like she speaks not to have a resolution through understanding for both sides but to solely bend to her demands. He's 24 and she knew that going in. It's going to take patience and communication in gentleness/love. She has her issues to work on too so it seems like his age might just be the perfect fit for her. Listening to each other's critiques and compromising afterwards seems to be what's needed to be worked on between them.

I have the same personality trait as Lydia exactly in the same range, I immediately liked her the first time I saw her on the first episode. Countrary to her, I am able to manage my emotions and be a good friend, I was raised by parents that were crazy about me, my dad was my best friend, I think with Lydia, she prolly had a difficult childhood where she starved being loved and had to fight for it. As we can see she was prolly raised by a single mother, and was never corrected whenever she would be domineering therefore she doesn't notice that it's wrong. I hope she does some self work, I know she did but it's not enough, she needs more healing and more self work, I think with time she can actually be a great match for Milton, but right now, I don't think so!

gosh I really really respect milton for how unbelievably calm he stays all the time and how he handled uche bc girl, unfortunately I‘m a lydia in situations like that. especially with people like uche I get so incredibly triggered that it‘s so fucking hard not to react, lol. I wish I could be more like Milton in that regard!!

I started to wonder if Lydia is a narcissist. The lengths she went to to get revenge on Uche and how she only talks about herself. She latched on to Milton as soon as he paid attention to her but didn’t truly get to know him. It was only about her. She just wants any dude to want her so she can make a big deal about herself.

This is exactly why I believe Uche's version of events over Lydia's concerning their relationship. She obviously has trouble letting go. Lydia set out to sabotage Aaliyah's relationship with Uche from the go.

I don’t want to be that person that diagnoses without proven facts but since I see myself in Lydia I think that she may struggle with borderline personality disorder. She shows all the signs and goes from one extreme to the other while desperately asking for love. And then basically sees the person as scum if they don’t feel the same way she feels and feels a deep DEEP sense of rejection even when being let down softly. I feel for her because she’s probably just doesn’t understand why she feels the feelings she feels and acts the way she acts. I genuinely think she should seek help to finally find love for herself instead of begging others to prove she’s worthy.

Lydia is so cringe. Using “Latina” as an excuse for poor behaviour. I have a lot of Latina friends and they do not act like that. She wasn’t over uche, pushed for uche, ruined Aaliyah’s relationship with him, trying to control Milton, not letting Milton express his own feelings.

@@jeeither No its a cultural thing, I've seen so many of them, just non-stop loudness and overbearing behaviour that they love to describe as feisty Latina-ness
@jeeither
@jeeither Жыл бұрын
@regularity2556 that's quite a generalization considering Latin America is huge. There is no one type of Hispanic woman. What you're describing is a stereotype that does not apply to all Hispanic women. Some Hispanic women feed into the stereotype because it's been beneficial for them in some way or because it's what's expected of them, but that does not mean it's cultural.
@jeremysmith9694
@jeremysmith9694 Жыл бұрын
@@hellaSwankkyToo Because no one else I've ever dated acted like that. And it seemed unique to her culture and upbringing. It almost felt like a badge of honor for her and her right to act like that. It seemed uniquely Hispanic.

Milton's Ne is so interesting to me. I can never start with multiple dimensions, always looking for one definite explanation. So when he says that to Uche, how everyone's on a different tangent (I think he used that word), it's paradigm-shifting to me. I love it. Re Fi, it's interesting that his Fi is in hero position yet he's so limited in expressing it. It's only after you explain it that I see how one can be clearly Fi on the inside, even when they can't express it. I used to think that Fi's are always expressive and clear in their Fi-ness :D
