Mike always recommended to perform 1 set per body part. For bigger body parts like chest, back, legs, 2 sets may be performed. But for smaller body parts one should not do more than 1 set. Because he always said to perform the sets to extreme failure and anything beyond that set would be overtraining. Warm up is very important but that doesn’t mean that you have to perform 2 to 3 warm up sets prior to the final set for every exercise. Before starting exercise for a particular body part, performing 1 or 2 sets of 6 to 8 repetitions with a bit lighter weight is what he recommended. Mike also preferred for minimum 4 days of complete rest for recovery. Complete rest means in these period no exercise should be done at all. This rest period varies person to person. Because some people may be needed more than 4 days to recover and this may extent to 10 days or more in some cases. Remember one thing, the persons whose are trying to build their physic naturally, needs much more time to recover than the persons whose are on anabolic. So, Mike was absolutely right. As Mike recommended more resting period, therefore he likes to do 2 or 3 body part in each session. So, if a person does 12-16 sets per body part, then he has to perform more than 35 sets in a single session for a 3 body parts which causes overtraining and this is completely opposite of Mike’s theory. Muscle soreness is absolutely connected with hypertrophy. If someone performs exercise after a long time or he tries any new exercise then he also feels muscle soreness. Actually, it happens because a long gap in exercise or a new exercise makes the muscles unaccustomed with the training intensity and becomes sore, therefore needs more time to recover. If someone is doing exercise for a long time then certainly his recovery rate will be increased and he may not need more than 4/5 days of rest days. It is very unfortunate that Mike’s theories are being called wrong. He is not only a legend but also his theories are still revolutionary. It would be better to watch Mike’s own videos to understand his thoughts and theories. I can say this because I have watched Mike’s several videos and after following his routine, I gained more muscle within a few months which I couldn’t in more than 10 years inspite of trying various types of training schedules. Mike Mentzer is the Godfather of natural bodybuilders.

About excercise frequency.......as you said 5 to 6 times a week does not suit for every lifter. Every person has different stress tolerance to exercise. Each and every person's inflammation and healing cycle is different, there are lot of confounding factors. Mentzer told very advanced lifters to train less frequently depending upon their recovery ability. He tells to keep adding additional rest days as and when required when you go deeper into a program. Because stress on body increases when the intensity increases. People who are very advanced , who developed good amount of muscle already, are not going to get any progress by going to gym daily 5 to 6 times a week for strength training. It leads to chronic inflammation and fatigue. There would be a halt in progress. Forget even progress its counterproductive on body. Intermediate lifters can have more frequency based on their recovery ability. As for beginners and intermediate lifters.....more lifting sessions are required to improve protein synthesis. So they dont have to follow mentzers advice of 7 to 10 days of rest. Thats for advanced lifters as they grow stronger and larger. Finally its upon the lifter himself to decide when he can hit the muscle again, everything is decided by recovery ability. Most of the principles told by mentzer are right . Its upon us how to use it accordingly. Most important point to be noted is....never go to absolute failure in deadlifts squats etc. Thats not a right suggestion from mentzer Thank you sir for putting up this content. It can change lot of people like me who trained in the wrong way for over 10 years. This can save lot of time. For all the people who dosent believe mentzer....... Just give it a try for a month atleast. You are not gonna loose anything. Most of us nattys who are training since years wont even put 1lb of muscle a month. So why not try this with good form and technique for a month.

The best part ahout him is also how he approached nutrition,Will Tennyson made a video about his diet and training protocols,the protein he recommened back then is similar to what studies have said today-1.6times ur bodyweight(for most individuals)also including healthy fat sources,if unsure about volume see how body is responding when training for the same bodypart ie if soreness is still there reduce the vol else continue with similar vol amongst many othes

This is what I mentioned in your community post, I follow more of Doriyan Yates' style and not going all the way to training just once a week. Thanks again for clearing all the doubts. I follow this pattern not because it's some kind of magic pill but because I can't afford spending much of my time in the gym itself. Yes it works even if you spend 45 mins in the gym, I have felt it. For most of the people who are mostly busy in their life and still want to have a better physique, a proper amalgamation of high intensity and volume in their workout regimen is the way to go. This is a revelation to the gym goers who feel depressed by not being able to spend much of their time in the gym; if you can't, then don't, but don't feel bad about it...... Just HIT🏋️

Thankyou for clearing the concept of Working sets (Failure) and workout routine ( no. of days per week). Else it was very confusing. One should only do those exercise which gives them results.. Nice video.. bro.. keep it up..

Time under tension bhi matter karta he agar ecentric ko bohot slow karoge to sahi rahega apne ek chij notice Kari hogi ki set khatam karne ke baad bhi app nagative kar paate ko lekin agar app negative ko achhe se slow karoge to aap full failure hit karoge also biceps or triceps me thode jyada reps ki need hoti he kyuki vo dono muscle roj use hote to vo fatigue nhi hote jaldi app compound movements ko 12-15 reps range me karo or jo isolated he usko 20 reps tak

@Garib_Man2 күн бұрын
When you are using 13 kg, your biceps are not lifting it 100% Most of the force is coming from your back, shoulder and forearm muscles and joints because simply your biceps are not enough strong to lift 13 kg alone. But when you are lifting 8.5 kg, all the lift force are coming from your biceps because your biceps are strong enough to lift 8.5 kg alone without any help from other muscles and joints. That's why you should try 10kg instead of 13 That's how you will only isolate as well as overload your only biceps
