Don’t you get vouchers or an allotted amount for food from the airline?

Great question! We do not unless there’s a reason we can’t leave the hotel or something. But we do make a per diem which is usually about $2 per hour we are away from base so that usually helps to offset some of the food costs❤️

I'd just like to point out a few things, as someone who was born in London and spent 29 years living there that might help out anyone who hasn't been and has only watched Kat's vids on London: firstly, it's probably because of the area she's staying in but in terms of grocery shopping, Waitrose and M&S which I see Kat uses are the more upmarket and expensive grocery shops, so naturally the cost breakdown compared to your standard shop like Tesco/Aldi/Lidl/Asda etc will be higher. Keep that in mind if you want to grocery shop in London on a budget. Also you do NOT need to tip anyone, there's no obligation to tip unless you want to. Tipping everyone is literally an American thing only, we pay proper wages to restaurant/service staff so don't feel bad about not tipping anyone. Finally our "minor" currency is called 'pence', I think Kat was calling it 'cents', Pounds and Pence. Oh and also the Tube has a daily fare cap, which I can't remember off the top of my head what it is, I think it's s anywhere between £7-14 depending on the zones you travel so if you're doing a lot of tube travel, once you hit the cap you won't pay for any further journeys. Happy travels!

The tax free in Europe for non-EU travelers works as follow: when you buy something from a store, before you pay you ask for tax free. Then, the cashier will give you a form that’s filled with your passport info (so passport is a must when requesting the tax free). Then, in the end, when you get to the airport you take all the forms you have collected to the corresponding stand and they will give you the tax that you paid back. It’s very simple but you have to be willing to get through the hassle.

tip from a british girl. if a restaunt offers alchol they have to offer tap water for free, so next time you come to the uk ask for tap water. just so you know for next time. 9 times out of 10 they will put ice in it. also if you have a reuseable waterbotle then the are cafes and other places that will fill them up with water for free.

Thanks Kat for sharing the price you paid at M & S for your food purchases. We are planning a trip to London for twelve day's and knew that eating in a restaurant every meal is not a option. Doing take-a-way from a grocery store and having a picnic in the park is doable. Plus showing what you paid for a round trip tube ride is extremely helpful. Looking forward to your Dublin adventure. Stay safe🌵🌵🌞🌞
@ChloeLouise1352 жыл бұрын
Just a tip from a Brit, M&S is one of the most expensive supermarkets in the UK, if you are trying to be savvy with cash then find a Tesco, Aldi or Lidl so much cheaper! Restaurants in central London can be pricey but if you go into the boroughs or even out of London(if you plan to) then you'll find they are soooo much cheaper. London prices are not reflective on the rest of the UK by a lot. ☺️
@Elisabeth-zi8ww2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Chloe for the information about supermarkets in London..M&S will be just a stones throw from the hotel, as we are staying in the Kensington area. Not going out of London this trip, only day bus trips, but, we will keep an eye out for other grocery stores throughout London during the day. Again thank you for giving us a heads up..Do take care...Elisabeth from Arizona in the US..🌵🌞

I don’t think people realize exactly how much you truly work. Please don’t apologize for being able to enjoy the fruits of your labor & definitely don’t apologize for putting up your Christmas decorations early! 😘😂 My hubby asks me every year what I want for my b-day (10/01) & every year I give him the same response… Bring in my Christmas decorations. I have RA & FM, plus a disability from attempting to save someone’s life. It takes me a bit to decorate. Having RA can be a beast! When I see you spending $, it’s usually on healthy goodness to help your body fight the ugly symptoms, esp the awful, painful inflammation. Taking care of yourself should not come with a guilt trip on what you spend. I always appreciate your content bc traveling used to be my favorite thing to do. Great vlog, Kat. Sorry to hear about one of the crew getting food poisoning. Be careful because i wouldn't like to see you getting food poisoning when you are that far away from home. I would like to see what you spend on a domestic trip. So, you work hard for your money, you are a big girl, you are responsible, you can spend your money the way you want
