It is my overwhelming experience that if you're new to the gym and unsure what to do, find the buffest looking dude in there and ask him to help you. These are the nicest people you'll meet. They are kind, patient, and love to share in their passion. They will be thrilled to help you.

FINALLY! A normal kid that decided to do something and became a GOAT. Seems like everyone legendary has some unrelated humble beginning that is so drastic that it almost feels impossible to overcome. More power to those people and good on them, but I and I’d assume a greater majority have stable homes, stable friends, and stable jobs that never really turn into anything exceptional. But Chris changes that narrative in my opinion! Love this dude

@JP the McGill gym you (and me) started training at was incidentally founded by Ben Weider (wrt the Weider weight sets Chris mentions later). There's a plaque outside saying so, I always loved that about the McGill gym.

this happened to me now.. i tried to learn something new, but then i always think that i'm too late to try, there are thousands of people that's better than me in that field, i'm not that young anymore, and i don't have the basic skill for it. That kind of thinking realy drain me out this couple of day. But i realize after watching this video that it is ok to be a fool at first, the kost important thing is that you commit to it and brave enough to always trying to do your best!! 🙏✨

One of the reasons why sports people includes and support beginner is also because you were in Canada. 400 years ago, there was only few people in Canada. Having to help and include new people was necessary. That culture stayed for generations. You notice that difference when you work as an expat in older country’s.

It's a positive feedback loop: sticking with your exercise regimen makes you fitter/stronger/faster (whatever you are going for) and being fitter, etc. encourages you to go even harder. This is true of just about anything: if you try something and succeed at it, you will try harder--a phenomenon that will continue until (and if) you reach a point where the extra effort is not bringing any new benefit/ reward. I think one of the most important factors is to be reasonable in your goals, i.e., be reasonable in your assessment of what constitutes success. You needn't be Pollyanna, but don't be too rough with your self-assessment either.

Starting is the hardest. BUT when you get results, they motivate even more -> you work harder -> more gains. Then it becomes enjoyable. You start to wait the next session. That's what people who go don't go to the gym understand. It's very fun, just like others go play golf. You also get addicted (positively) to the burn, like cyclists. And what's best, you get a great feeling from not only endorphins and dopamine, but testosterone and growth hormone release plus nervous system effects, which affects directly to mood and behaviour. People don't understand it's all about hormone cycles. It gets very deep and it's an area of neuroscience & psychology not discovered enough to explain the mechanisms to understand WHY gym and strength training has this effect to mood. It really is a CAUSE why gym people are like that and smilling all the time and high libido (men&women)...
@Razear
@Razear Ай бұрын
The thing with exercise is that people expect to see results overnight and when they don't see the progress they're hoping for, many end up quitting. This is why so many people end up abandoning their NY's resolution to get fit after the first couple of weeks. Also, in terms of diet, eating a caloric surplus if you happen to be an ectomorph is an arduous task. You have to remind yourself to eat every few hours in order to maintain size and it can become really taxing.

In other words : Be honest to yourself and don't be afraid to ask stupid questions all the time. The relative improvement is the most important thing, not the starting point or the point where you are at in any time when you are improving yourself (on a journey to be better at something) compared to other people. The one who can make the biggest improvement is the one that really starts at the bottom and knows nothing. That advantage doesn't really advanced (as in a person that has done something for a very long time and is good at it) people have. That's why it is so d-mn funny to learn new things all the time! The difference is the biggest! Also why it's so easy to get lost in it because it is so funny and interesting that you blame yourself for not having time to do other things that you also wanna improve!

Bodybuilding is an all-consuming lifestyle. Taking anabolic steroids does not negate the strict adherence to a food and drug regimen, or countless hours of work required to build and grow your physique, and certainly not the gruelling mental and physical test of pushing yourself through a fat loss phase to achieve stage-ready conditioning.
