What’s Next for Jodi Hildebrandt After Ruby Franke’s Guilty Plea to Child Abuse?

Ex-therapist Jodi Hildebrandt is expected in court next week after her former business partner, Ruby Franke, agreed to plead guilty to four counts of second-degree aggravated child abuse. Franke admitted she and another adult restrained Franke’s two youngest children with handcuffs, denied them access to food and water, and made them stand outside in the hot sun for hours. As part of her plea agreement, Franke is required to testify against Hildebrandt. The Law&Crime Network’s Jesse Weber checks in with KUTV2News reporter Brian Schnee to discuss what we can expect during Hildebrandt’s hearing.

It's quite possible Ruby told them everything she's been doing. The police have very skilled interrogators that use techniques designed to make criminals want to confess all the details of their crimes. I doubt Ruby is mentally resilient enough to have withstood these techniques.

Thank goodness the neighbours knew about Jodi and did the right thing, contacting police and giving that brave boy a safe haven, giving him food and a drink while he waited for police to arrive. I doubt he would have locked the boy in his house than allow him to go with jodi. I've listened to that phone call so many times but when he becomes overcome with emotion, tears provoke my eyes.

Utah has indeterminated sentencing. She is going to be eligible for parole after serving 4 years. One year each is the minimum for four 2nd degree felonies. It's all up to the parole board whether they release her that early.
