I left a 1 star review on a gaming chair. The company contacted me and offered me $50 to turn the 1 star review into 5 stars. I refused, took screenshots and told Amazon. Amazon deleted my 1 star review and banned me from writing reviews for accepting bribes. Thanks Amazon

He missed looking at the Q&A section where the question says “Is this made from real leather?” And the answer is “I don’t have this chair, it could be. But I like the color.”

This reminds me of when my wife and I were looking at resorts for our honeymoon. A lot of the reviews left for the resorts were just people complaining about the airline as if the hotel owned the planes.

This is scary accurate. Amazon used to be amazing for online shopping...now it seems I spend more time asking "is this a bootleg product?" and the classic "is this bootleg product okay enough to justify not driving the damn store myself for the real deal?"

I bought a teapot on Amazon 2 years ago. There were multiple reviews in which people complained that it broke when they tried to boil water in it on the stove. This was a ceramic teapot. People were placing it on their stove full of water on high heat. There were multiple reviews complaining about this.

This reminds me of how people will review recipes and say “5 stars - can’t wait to make this looks so good” or “2 stars - I changed everything about this and it turned out terrible”

I also like the positive reviews that were clearly written for a different product, because Amazon has this handy feature that lets you change the entire product page and product category

I literally went through this process when buying a computer chair. Ended up going to a box office store and tested them out and bought the floor model 😄

Amazon used to be a reliable place to find cheaper deals on things you could find in stores, but two things happened: 1) stores started checking Amazon to adjust their prices and 2) sellers started figuring out which stores did or didn't matter in terms of price competition so they could raise prices.
