I think the shingles will shed water better if you stagger the seams. And then case no one else has told you: chicken wire is for chickens, but won’t keep predators out - you need hardware cloth.

Ah tbh, i was amazed you were able to get some job done during the summer months 😂 But it looks all so good. It may be good in any case if it rains, to help settle the ground and the earthworks. So it may well be a blessing in disguise :) The chicken coop is going to be really beautiful. You mentioned you had chickens before, so you would know all that it entails. The only thing I can think of is to make it easy for you to clean and access ;) Best wishes for the "come back to school" week. Bittersweet time, but I cannot believe how quickly this summer passed!! Take care 😊

Good idea, capoeira. Let me remind you of this: chickens don't lay eggs when they're cold, or if they do, it's very little. So if you're made of roots, make the most of it and do some good capoeira. Good work, and get ready for the beautiful days in Portugal, autumn days!

When I was younger there was plenty of people to work on building sites, on the fields, etc. It is not the case nowadays, unfortunately. The Portuguese population is decreasing. Either they are getting old or they go abroad to work there. Only recently there was a Swiss advertisement for Portuguese speaking builders to work in Switzerland for 3000 euros a month! Nowadays those who stay here have a better quality of life, too. Workers having a holiday break it is something you never heard of in previous times times. I gather there is plenty of laborers in South Africa? 🤔

Enjoy Badger’s resourcefulness in making do (as does Kayla) - like the movie Swiss Family Robinson. Why not line the inside of the roof to give the battens greater rigidity just as you are doing for the sides/ walls ( if the weight of the tiles is too much of a risk) ? Best wishes with your Positive Project (!) from South Australia.
