This man is my hero. I watched his Galen Institute KZbin videos last year and changed my diet to quality Keto and intermittent fasting. I lost 135 lbs in 8 months.. I'm no longer prediabetic and off all medications. I didn't even have to work out. Just walking the dog twice a day. I'm never hungry and don't crave carbs or sugar like I used to. I'm 61 and feel as good as I did at 30. Anyone can do this.

That's my regimen too. What you eat and how often doesn't determine your weight. Your weight is determined by your metabolic rate and how much your body absorbs from your diet. Doc is the bomb! as a practicing Neurologist, I realize that what they taught us in medical school was completely bonkers. I think the best thing happening to me was the fact that I got pre-diabetes so that I may educate myself there by educating my patients. It’s really sad that the majority of individuals out there are so oblivious and really don’t care about their overall health. Lies lies lies. Typical docs have no idea how to treat diabetes and it’s because of individuals like Dr. J that we all become in lightened. Thank you for all of your information. Respect!

Once you realize how much sugar/carbs you actually consume and consciously set out to minimize it, it's terrifying how difficult it is unless you prepare every meal yourself. Even then there are so many food staples to be eliminated that it's tough to replace them.

Intermittent fasting is very important! I think it's more important than having lower carbs although I do think a low carb diet is important. But it's that fasting that helps a lot more. No matter what we eat, our insulin spikes. So if we eat *more* than 3 to 4 times a day, our insulin is being elevated. There's a crazy diet where you eat *many times* a day so as to *supposedly* control your sugar levels or insulin spikes. That's such a farce! Eating fewer times a day is better to control insulin. I am mostly OMAD. But I know that not everyone could do that. You'd have to go into OMAD slowly, over a few days and you have to eat the right fats and proteins along with good gut health foods. Fasting also helps fight disease. Cancer loves sugar!

If you watch the Mastering Diabetes channel they argue that dietary fat is the main reason for diabetes and not sugar. They promote low fat and whole food plant based diet to control insulin and seem to get good results. They say fat clogs the cells so they can no longer release sugar properly.

Really like his delivery, how he talks about it,so simple with a dash of humour. Appreciate you Dock, all u can do is to give ppl that knowledge/your wisdom so they can take it and start applying it ,if their goal is to be healthy. The system will never change ( in my opinion) it's too corrupt, ppl who make rules sitting deep and comfortable in pharmaceutical companies pockets.It's The People who need to change.Change the thinking, approach to food,do u guys imagine what would happen to them "bad doctors " if ppl didn't need them? Oh,poor idiots...what would they do 😢. My child ,5yo just had ear infection, crying with pain the other night.I warmed up little bit of olive oil ,mixed it with freshly squized garlic juice and applied 3drops into the infected ear. Worked the magic through the night! We all know what would happen if i took my child to the doc.all they believe in is artificial antibiotics ,well ...garlic is a natural one 😁 get the knowledge ppl while it's still out there. Ps.to ppl with asthma, do proper parasite cleansing 2-3 times,as this is what causes it.
@justinamusyoka49862 жыл бұрын
How do you do parasite cleansing ? Just asking.
@pabloblanco26562 жыл бұрын
The healthcare system is WORSE than what you describe. It's so pathetic and corrupt that now doctors refuse to give antibiotics unless you have covid which is nonsense. If you have a confirmed or suspected bacterial infection they will NOT prescribe antibiotics BUT if you have a confirmed or suspected viral infection the idiots WILL NOT HESITATE to prescribe antibiotics. It's common knowledge that PROPER antibiotics ARE effective in bacterial infections but are NOT effective for viral infections like covid and the flu. This nonsense is what causes antibiotic resistance and sepsis. The jackasses of modern medicine are uneducated and in reverse mode. Modern doctors are tied at first place with the government for being public enemy # 1.

I love what this doctor has to say. He makes so much sense. Many people can improve their health dramatically with dietary changes, etc. However, diet and lifestyle are only part of the story. Some people are born with genetic factors that cannot be reversed and improving their health is a major uphill battle. DNA is DNA and unfortunately there isn't much that can be done to change that. I am a perfect example. I've been cursed with coronary artery disease but have been a well-conditioned athlete and diet conscious person my whole life. Genetics are tough to beat but I will keep on trying.
@LauraB.3352 жыл бұрын
Diet CAN change genetic expression, regardless of what your DNA says. Well-conditioned athlete and diet conscious can mean anything, depending on what you believe is healthy. Mark Sisson is a perfect example. He was a world-class distance runner and he was eating what he thought was a healthy diet of whole grains, etc., for a runner. He was on the cover of fitness magazines and looked great from the outside, but he was falling apart on the inside. He had IBS and all sorts of autoimmune issues. He was in constant pain. It’s wasn’t until he moved to more of a paleo/primal way of eating, that his issues started to subside. He’s now keto (and I think he said that he’s now carnivore-ish, eating lots of meat). He looks AND feels great. There are all sorts of people who have reversed their CAC scores, improved their HDL, lowered triglycerides, and improved their heart health by doing low carb/keto/carnivore.

You can repair the damage. It just takes time. You have to realize the damage was not caused overnight. The damage is cumulative. @@stevemorgan1459 Critically # 1 : SLEEP UNinterrupted sleep will heal the body. It must be a MINIMUM of 7 hours and 8 hours is optimal but 9 hours is guaranteed to fully repair but it must be consistent. In other words it can't be every blue moon. It must be a way of life. Atleast 6 nights a week. When your sleep is disrupted it destroys the detoxing and healing process. Your sleep must be UNinterrupted in order for the body to properly heal itself. # 2 : CLEAN HYDRATION Drink more water than any other fluid and keep drinking until your urine is between clear and any color yellow. This must be consistent. If the color looks like apple juice, amber or orange it means you are severely dehydrated and that causes damage to your cardiac system. The body can not heal itself with tap water. In order for the body to heal itself the water must be free of chemicals and ionization. Steer clear of ionized water because it causes cancer. Drink natural water ONLY. # 3 : ORGANIC FOOD Don't eat low carb nor high carb. Natural carbs are not bad for you. It's the refined processed packaged carb foods that are bad. Eat moderate amounts of carbs, fiber and protein. The body can not heal itself if you overeat and it can't heal itself if you deprive it of nutrients. The key is moderation in amounts AND moderation in frequency too. Don't eat more than twice a day and don't go all day without eating. Not eating and excessive eating are the silent killers. * as a side note steer clear of glyphosate - it's linked to cancer and numerous gastrointestinal, cardiac, neurological and endocrine conditions # 4 : ACTIVITY Stay active during waking hours. You don't have to exercise but the body needs circulation and blood flow for nutrient transport and oxygen for absorption. You don't have to jog for hours to achieve this. You can achieve this by moving your body every two hours. In other words it's OK to sit and watch a 2 hour movie but not 8 straight hours of sitting. When you sit for more than 2 hours your blood starts to pool and decreases in circulation. Movement is critical for circulation and circulation is critical for the vascular system. The exercise or activity does not matter as long as you are moving your body every two hours (sleep is not included in this component). Just like with eating the key is moderation.

I appreciate your passion and teaching on these topics. I’m in the USA, 47, male, 5’8”, large build, lost 65lbs over the last 4 years and am now 235lbs, fasted sugars can be 100, I’m eating a low carb diet and focused on cycling in and out of ketosis. My father has coronary heart disease. I’m concerned I my be on that path too. What action should I take with my PCP to assess the current status of my arteries? What action should I take on my own to nip this in the bud and possibly turn back the clock? Thank you for you time in addressing my concerns.

You can ask your PCP to order a Coronary Artery Calcium (CAC) score as a start.

Thanks sooo much Doctor..my question is that how come people who ate much more than me and more frequently, are severely overweight, did NO exercise. They don't get diabetes but I do.. how come?

It's about if it's belly fat or visceral fat vs butt fat. Visceral/belly fat=metabolic syndrome. Dr Robert Lustig MD explains why a skinny person may be diabetic while a fat person may not be.

Hi Dr Jamnadas.. I was wondering.. When someone is in insulin resistant condition, which means he/she has excessive insulin the blood, what finally happens to this excess insulin? Does it finally becomes lower if he/she does fasting? How is the mechanism for that to happen? Would you mind explaining it please?

Dr. Jamnadas, When I do a 4/5 day fast, i struggle with Acidity issues. I burp, have hiccups and also have loose motions, bordering incontinence. Can u pls advice how to overcome these issues ? Things I have already tried, but didn't work: Lime juice. Apple cider vinegar. Things that helped, but not much: 1. Not working out during fasting coz it increases my acidity 2. Avoid tea/coffee 3. Drinking a lot of water, then vomiting it out to clean my tummy. This process is called Kunjal Kriya in Yoga. Pls advice why acidity and loose motions happen and how to overcome this.

I followed doc's advice, two heart surgeries, my triglyceride divided by HDL ratio went from 2.2 down to 0.84, BAM, age 69. Diabetes, borderline high BP, severe body ache, all gone.

That's a great question. There is a lot of contradictory advice and information out there about restoring insulin response, reversing diabetes etc...we need a forum where us plain normal non medical professional people who are kind of in the dark, be able to ask questions and get straight answers to them..I would pay for that happily..

Cut out carbs and sugar, processed food, obviously fructose from fruit, Eat whole food like meat and low carb vegetables. Fast at least 18 hours and eat in a 6 hour window. Look up Dr. Ken Berry on KZbin he has lots of videos on reversing T2 diabetes. It takes commitment but many many people get off medication and reverse T2 🥩🥚💪🏻

@Dr. Jamnadas, can I reverse hardening of the arteries if I quit sugars and lose the weight?
@jac11612 жыл бұрын
You can stop the process from getting worse, and you have to go outside the mainstream, to naturopaths, nutritional chiropractors, and hyperbaric 02 therapy.
@pabloblanco26562 жыл бұрын
You can't reverse it just by stopping the consumption of sugar. You would need to do other modalities and treatment and give your body what it needs to heal itself. It's not just a matter of what you are doing. It's also what you are not doing that you should be doing. START incorporating healthy things into your life and you will see a difference but be patient because if you have diabetes it means your body has a slow healing process whereas if you don't have diabetes your body can heal itself quickly.

Dr. Jamandas, a nuanced question for you - what kind of research has there been on varying ones fasting cycles? I.e. OMAD five days a week, and then intermittent or even a normal eating schedule on the weekends. (In the context of health benefits, not weight loss) I’m curious if doing something like this would better “keep your metabolism on its toes”.
@thedcbroker72642 жыл бұрын
Great idea Ryan. I read Dave aspreys book on a cyclical diet of zero carbs then a day or two with carbs and it worked well. I also do bulletproof coffee daily. Black with t teaspoon of duckfat. Everyone says my skin is gorgeous and I lost over 100 pounds and still losing. Doing great!
@LauraB.3352 жыл бұрын
Dr. Mindy Pelz talks about this all the time, and says variability is very important in a fasting lifestyle. Sometimes I think she makes things way too difficult, but she definitely is an advocate of mixing it up.

I started intermittent fasting (16/8) as a way of future proofing against diabetes back in July 2022. Did my first OMAD recently and have cut sugar out of my diet. I am a double SCAD survivor (needed CABG) and was left with congestive heart failure (currently with a 28% ejection fraction). I also happen to have been diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis, but have so far remained asymptomatic. I have tried finding information on intermittent fasting and CHF, SCAD and LAM, but I am coming up empty-handed. Would love to see a video on intermittent fasting, CHF, SCAD. Thanks!

Why not measure insulin vs glucose? For example, instead of continuous glucose monitoring, why don't we do that for insulin? This is basically going upstream of the problem, getting closer to the root....
