Oxalate toxicty/overload, ie too much in eating spinach, sweet potato, red raspberry, turmeric . I thought it couldn't hurt me but it caused lots of issues including joint and muscle, pain, fatigue, mental fogginess, all symptoms that a Dr may contribute to menopause or osteoarthritis etc. I started researching and hope you will consider interviewing Sally Norton who just came out with her book explaining all about oxalates "Toxic Superfoods". I've been improving by eliminating or " dumping" oxalates as they say. I heard you said eat whatever which may work but when I ate only healthy superfoods it hurt . Please please consider this. It will be an awesome and educational interview I'm betting on it. Love your podcast and I'm sharing with my friends and clients!!❤

I was diagnosed with estrogen and progesterone + breast cancer at 43. Needed chemotherapy and it stopped my ovaries and it put me into immediate menopause within 4 mos. I am appalled at how little most providers (including OBGYNs and Endocrinologists) know about hormones as a whole. It is despicable. Your average physician does not know much and treats in a vacuum. So frustrating. The experts that have helped me the most are not even considered main stream medical providers. Homeopaths/acupuncturists/educated chiropractors, herbalists and naturopaths were my way to go. Don’t sell yourselves short and definitely ADVOCATE for yourself! Your doctor is not trained or paid to do so. Do your own digging and research! Do NOT rely on your main stream medical doc to do this for you. Read up on the history of our medical system and all of the changes that occurred in the early 1900’s. It’s appalling what we are left with.

Absolutely, we owe it to ourselves to become our own medical advocates. If I didn't do this for myself I would have been dead at 25 due to how uneducated Dr's are. I have pernicious anemia and it went misdiagnosed for over 10 years. Also, I'm student nurse, and the education we get is atrocious, 4 hours on nutrients and they don't actually teach anything. Fortunately, my passion is nutritional psychiatry do I read in my own time about nutritients and the effects of nutritional deficiencies. That being said, I'm so sorry that you were also treated poorly by the "medical" industry.

Wow. I absolutely relate. I was diagnosed with the same type of breast cancer. I denied chemo and double mastectomy. Instead I had cryoablation! This procedure trained my immune system to fight the cancer without mutilation. I did it because I am 39 recently married and we will have children. I was told by the Cleveland clinic I couldn't have cryoablation because it is not standard of care. They also told me to take tamofixin (causes ovary cancer) to suppress my hormones. I did not. I regulate them naturally a number of ways now. It's a shame that it is big business. There is always hope though. I was also helped the most by a naturopath chiropractor. I hope you are doing well! 🙏

I've been telling my wife for a decade that her symptoms sounded like menopause but she always argued against it. She kept being prescribed psych meds one on top of the other. She just turned 50 and is still in denial just because she is being told she is too young by her docs. I believe she is being medicated improperly and I hate what is doing to her physical and mental health. We aren't affluent and don't really have access to quality professionals and it breaks my heart I can't provide her with better health. I see her deteriorating year after year and can't overcome what she trusts from her docs. I have no idea whether I'm right or not but how she's being medicated is not an improvement. Shouldn't there be improvement when being treated? I just fear for her and thank you for providing a platform to contemplate.

Wow. I'm so pissed off watching this. I'm 57 now, went into menopause at 51, and never received hormone therapy because I was petrified of it from what I'd read/heard. My 40's were friggin MISERABLE, and my 50's aren't exactly fantastic. The hot flashes, depression, skin breakouts - everything. I feel like I could have saved myself from a whole lot of suffering if I'd known this information. Thank you for this.

I'm french and for a french woman it's much simpler and the treatment is reimbursed by social security! All women must be attentive to changes and not allow themselves to be persuaded that over time it is "normal" to be less active, to gain weight, to have less energy and desire. We must refuse this state and hormones are our allies, they allowed me to remain myself (estrogen + progesterone in tablet and dermal gel)! Ladies demand these treatments don't let yourself down...

I’m 53 years old and I’ve been on BHRT for 20 years. My hormones tanked in my early 30s and I was relentless in finding a doctor that would listen to me and know what to do. It took me a while but I found someone and that person has literally saved my life. Now being on BHRT does not preclude you from weight gain as I’ve recently lost 50 pounds and gained muscle through lifestyle changes, but I am a huge advocate of BHRT and have been beating this drum for 20 years to anyone that will listen. Unfortunately, most of my family and friends who complain of symptoms, etc., won’t listen to me or even listen to a podcast like this. Dr. Haver knows what she’s talking about and I wish everyone would listen to her.❤

I've recently had an appointment with my Gp to discuss HRT as I'm in perimenopause and experiencing a variety of symptoms including low mood and anxiety. I also get hormonal aura migranes which have ramped right up through this phase. I made sure i was well researched prior to going in. My doctor was initially reluctant to start me on it talking about the risks of breast cancer and stroke with having aura migrane. Then it was my turn to talk... she started googling to confirm everything i said and then agreed to start me on HRT. It's so important to be well researched prior to going in or they will do nothing and you continue to suffer needlessly.

I was a vegetarian for 15 years during my 20s 30s 40s, and in retrospect I now see that it triggered so many health issues during that time. Animal fat and animal protein mostly red meat is what is missing in our diet. Not having it in our diet is what is triggering all our health problems as females during the change of life and before. I am now almost carnivore (ketonivore) and have almost regain my full health after 6 months doing it. I got rid of cardio vascular disease, visceral fat, pains and aches in my hips have dissipated, my hormonal balance is stable. I feel strong and I am never hungry like before. Thank you for having Dr. Haver on to discuss this topic. It is so important and I have found that women don’t talk about it much.. I am 55 and been HRT for a year. When I was 53 I mentioned to my Dr that I had had a really long period. I think I was perimenopausal and had no idea that was happening. I am very fit and had always had regular periods. That Dr. was worried about the thickness of my lining and wanted to scrape my uterus. I didn’t feel anything was wrong but rather my body transitioning to menopause. I went for a second opinion and by then I was experiencing more fatigue, insomnia and depression. He checked my hormones and said I was very low. He started me on hrt and I felt like there was hope again for a normal life. I have been on hrt for a year and just went a year without a period. I am feeling so much better. I recently changed Drs and she really listened to my symptoms and increased my progesterone. This has made such a difference in my life. I was also caring for my father with dementia at the time and was so used to being there for others and didn’t realize that I needed help till it really started to impact my life. Please take care of yourselves and research the options.

check out a few videos on this Dr channel www.youtube.com/@menopause_doctor/videos she has a website/app as wall (free) she is in UK, do your own research what is available in your country but i am guessing it will be very similair accross the western countries. You can just educate yourself as to what you want/is available where you live and demand a doctor gives it to you. Every cell ina woman's body has estrogen receptor so of course it will have serious and unpleasant consequences when the supply (by our bodies) dwindles or stops completely, good luck!

It took me about 10 years too. Just keep on going to different providers until someone listens. And insist on checking your hormones. You can actually order something online if needed. I was placed on Yasmin birth control, which is only 1 mg lower than HRT. It’s much more affordable for me. Oh, and vaginal inserts as needed. Changed my life! Just tell the doctor that’s what you need. Don’t assume that they know what they’re doing. Try it and see if you feel better. Just explain symptoms and then tell them that you think it’s low estrogen. Tell them you want a test. Ultimately, these doctors are being paid by you, not the other way around. Take back your power. You’re not going crazy, they just have not read the latest research and are not properly informed.

Suzanne Somers' was a pioneer in the HRT and anti-aging movement for women, and men. I've picked up all of her books second hand. Her somersize "diet" is very good. She's the reason I sought out HRT as soon as I realized there was an anti-aging clinic near me after I moved out of California. I'm 61. Been on HRT cream for two years. It brought back my interest, and ability, to be intimate... Which is a blessing because I got married a year ago after basically giving up on ever having a relationship... After the season of hit flashes, night sweats, mood swings and brain fog, came the season of dehydration. I felt like I was drying up into an old sad prune. The HRT has resolved the dryness inside and out. I'm fit, and tuning up my diet. I quit drinking alcohol, except occasionally. That's a game changer! My physical age is about 48 (I think...). Menopause is a bitch. It may be worse when one is a pot smoking alcoholic... Being on the other side of these things is very good! I hope you find a good doctor. It's definitely worth it.

You don't look relatable in photos, but 5 minutes in the video and boom! How is it that you have to beg for subscribers? Would love topics on specific awful menopause issues, and esp for older women in their 70s who didn't do hrt. I can save myself and my daughter, but what about my mom? My mom is in her 70s and a victim of the WHI study. Her life became hell at 45 and she's been dealing with this for 30 years. Is there any help for her????

@@chalenejohnsonsuch great and honest content. My Mum is in the same boat. She’s 82. Had a hysterectomy (surgical error) at 24 and was put on HRT and was doing great. Then the WHI fiasco hit the news and she came off it, she’s gone downhill from then without knowing why. I’m 60 and suffered with symptoms for 5 years before I finally found a GP who’d prescribe me HRT. I have to beg for the script each visit and only if I agree to have expensive and painful 3D mammograms and ultrasounds every year, as I have two cysts in my breasts. I truly value all the information you are gathering for us ladies particularly when you have not suffered greatly yourself. You are a true gem. Thank you

I believe one's diet is key to how the body acts/reacts through menopause. Our hormones decline because our bodies no longer need to support potential pregnancy. All the diseases that are claimed that estrogen alleviate, can be addressed through diet and a few natural supplements. Brava, KaraBurton!!! Keep up the good work!! Adding anything unnatural/non-bio-identical into the body cannot be without side effects. I hope I can be in your boat at 53!!!!!

Karaburton 3358 just keep tabs on it n don't be surprised if things change in a year or two. I turned 57 in July and I think I had my last period at around 48-50. But in 2017 I got into probably best shape of my life although I've never been more than 20 lbs overweight n most years avg/decent weight and was usually active going to gym regularly although like many sometimes more committed than other times. But then only 2-3 short years later a little before COVID I did start putting on some weight and now going right to my belly. Once COVID came like many I was no longer working out n began having a drink or 2 few times a week whereas before i really basically drank every other weekend and maybe 4 drinks. Now I also started craving ice cream n began having it about 5 nights a week right before bed. So the next 3 years I gained probably 25 lbs n much of it in my belly. The past year and a half I've worked on reducing the alcohol little by little n since January.down to like 1-2 drinks every 2-3 weeks so that has definitely helped. I've not been able to get to the gym yet with consistency but hopefully soon n I've reduced my ice cream nights from 5 nights to 2-3 but have to get it down to 1-2 tops. So it's been difficult to know how much of this weight gain was from being more years into menopause and how much from my own ice cream n alcohol frequency. But I sense that even if I completely eliminated alcohol n ice cream n went to the gym for weight training again I'd never be size 6 and have the abs I had only 4 yrs ago at 53. My suggestion to anyone who does lose weight right before menopause or a few years into it...hang on to your old clothes. I was too generous and gave too much away.lol

I started into menopause when the nurses study came out and no way doctors were going to prescribe me HRT. So I went online and read up on what you needed and get estrogen gel online. With a few days of progesterone cream it cured all my problems. I am 71 now, pain free, still strong and fit! Run and lift and kept my boobs. Skin is fantastic. Sleep like a baby, sex life is good. I was amazed to hear that frozen shoulder is a symptom. I had it in both shoulders. The pain was so bad at times if I knocked it I nearly passed out. I guess I was in perimenopause. I suppose that fact that mostly women get it at middle age is a massive clue.

I had a hysterectomy age 43 due to cells, I kept my ovaries & still went into menopause, I’m sure having no periods brought it on. I was also told if ovaries are taken before the age of 50 then your at a much higher risk of heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis & certain cancers. But what I can gather from this video & research is if you have a hysterectomy it not only removes the chance of womb & cervical cancer but also means you only need estrogen HRT, as far as I’m aware you only need progesterone to protect womb lining, which isn’t there after a hysterectomy, you will only need estrogen only hrt which doesn’t carry cancer risk like it does when progesterone & estrogen hrt is combined

If only my obgyn had educated me, when I was 24 and he delivered my daughter, when he told me “you will have osteoporosis when you are older” that I could possibly go about my daily life doing certain things or avoiding other things, and those things may impact that “this is your future” nugget of nothing he said just like it was nothing and no big deal. He did elaborate and said he knew that because of my size. My brain heard tiny women = osteoporosis and since he was very nonchalant about it, I never thought more about it. Fast forward - started having symptoms I know now are those of menopause in my mid thirties and have been in full menopause since my early-mid 40s. At 49, I now have severe osteoporosis and am about to begin a med regime which involves daily shots I must administer. We must do better teaching our young women more about their bodies, about how vital their reproductive system is to their whole body and the life style choices they can make to protect it - Brain health, bone health, skin health, heart health, breast health, sexual health, mental health - our hormone health is SOOO much more than periods and pimples.

Charlene, side note your hair looks great. Personal question: Is it your bio hair or extensions? It always looks perfect. I'm menopausal and have thinning hair; I would love a video about hair health and how hormones affect hair growth. So much conflicting information out there. I am obsessed with your videos.
