This is a perfect demonstration of why techs aren't just "plug and play." The relationship between the tech and artist is damn near as important as the tech's talent.

The tech did THE outstanding job. I mean he’s literally the only reason this was possible. Sure, it didn’t effect Danny’s playing at all, but it’s the drum tech that allowed for that. I think people just can’t help but praise Danny because they have little concept of touring and how little the musicians are actually required to do…it’s designed that way so that situations like this are the result of equipment malfunctions. When the musician themselves are responsible for stage management and technical support, they grow fatigued at an incredibly fast rate. Smaller bands know exactly what I’m talking about; or anyone who’s toured both clubs and theaters or bigger.

yeah honestly if u know anything about tool and/or have ever seen them live then it's not surprising at all if you have even a general idea of what goes on behind the curtains to put on a show of Tool's scale for the past 2 decades it has been a totally professional production, aenema days it was too, but lateralus tour was like quarduple platinum style professional and its been that way ever since

@@MajicFreeman I saw Tool during the Lateralus tour 2001/02. Missed them on Aenima 😭😭 The production on Lateralus was no near as EPIC as Fear, but my goodness, was it beautiful. Alex Grey's art work was just beginning to be incorporated into Tool's stage design. My friends and I were blown away by the Sacred Mirrors hanging from the ceiling and what looked like a massive tapestry of Grey's work in the background. These guys know how to dazzle for sure.

Danny is obviously a madman evil genius on the kit, so there's that. What makes him the GOAT in my mind is his coolness. That was the chillest and almost matter-of-fact equipment malfunction ever. That's some slick drum teching right there! Almost reminds me of a bass player I was good friends and used to play shows with back in the days that once broke a string onstage. He simply ripped it out, replaced it with a new one from his gig bag, tuned it, and finished the song. I couldn't believe my eyes. The guy was one of the most brilliant bass players I ever knew.

You saying "I love the fact " he isn't "pissed "suggests that you think, drummers who are skilled and lucky enough to have techs to work for them, are likely to be pissed at their tech for dumb reasons. It doesn't make sense to me. Why do you go around assuming musicians are dicks to their technicians? Because you must think that, if you felt the need to bring it up. Otherwise except that, the way you put this statement is a backasswards way of giving a compliment. It would be like saying, I like how that guy didn't yell at the waiter for bringing exactly what was ordered in a timely manner.

Outstanding job. No snare. No problem. His signature sticks is a heavy one. It’s based on the rock model from Vic Firth. He beefed up the bottom shaft to the butt end for his gripping and power. The diameter is 0.695 inches for the butt end, but overall it’s still a rock/metal stick with a diameter of 0.635 inches.
