As a German, I love the fact, that "Scheiße" was pronounced perfectly, while "Reich" sounded like "Reick", gotta have you priorities straight

@@deathracoffee you are correct, in the case of "Scheiße" for example the official pronunciation is " ˈʃaɪ̯sə " To me it did sound that way though, but I mean its a curse word, I've probably heard like a hundred different ways to pronounce it in just the last year, usually dependent on the intensity of the pain/anger in that situation (and the dialect) so Im not really sensitive if it comes to the way people pronounce it, I didn't hear anything wrong with it though so I think that counts for something Also, since i actually went through the trouble of looking stuff up, I just want to mention, the way you have to pronounce letters in german and way they are written in pronunciation symbols is highly confusing; our ss and ß is often pronounced as /s/, our s as /z/ our z as /ts/; no wonder i was completely confused when we first were supposed to read those symbols in school

​@@solar0wind @MK-he3qq the reason it sounds like a [z] sound the first time might be because he said it with a bit of vocal fry, which is something English speakers sometimes do when mumbling. It consists on taping your vocal cords with each other in a low frequency, and since the only difference between [s] and [z] is whether the vocal cords are vibrating or not, the vocal fry in the [aɪs] makes it sound like an [aɪz]

I've learned a wee bit of German and that ch bit did trip me up a while, more so in like ich and dich. Its kinda the same sound as ck but without fully committing to it. A softer version. Differienciating S ss/ß and z does seem a bit harder though.
