I’m a FSU fan living in Columbus, Ohio and I’ve been to games In Tallahassee . In comparison the atmosphere is crazier inside Ohio stadium compared to Doak Campbell, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan are the largest 3 stadiums in college football and you can feel it while you’re there. It’s electric in those stadiums. The big ten fans travel well, they’re wealthy fans.

Very good point, and it's nice to hear from the perspective of someone who has been to both. My only issue with the B1G is that I'd love to play the teams you named. It's the middle to bottom half that doesn't seem very appealing. The SEC had 4 teams average 100k+ last year, and only two teams average under 60k attendance. The B1G had 3 at 100k+ and 8 at under 60k. So, you get the same level of top-tier in the SEC but a better middle to lower tier. However, getting teams like Mich, OSU, PSU, USC, Washington, and Oregon at Doak would almost guarantee a sellout, which would be great! Either way, you know who doesn't have ANY 100k seat stadiums and 11 teams that averaged under 60k...the ACC! 😅🤦‍♂️ We just gotta go somewhere! Appreciate you tuning in! Go Noles!!

@@plantthespear So, you're concerned about the atmosphere of mid-tier teams like Jump Around at Camp Randall, Kinnick at night, Nebraska "sellout" streak, whatever Michigan State's deal is? Enthusiasm outside of Rutgers, Northwestern and maybe Indiana won't be a problem. Gophers seem cute from a distance but a bit of exposure to "Ski-U-Mah" and "Row the Boat" non-sense and you'll reach Bill Murray in Caddyshack level hate. Purdue Pete is nightmare fuel. I can't speak for The Upper Midwest Conference fans but there are over 35,000 Penn State alumni in the State of Florida...that is MORE than the entire Upper Midwest Conference footprint! Penn State ALWAYS should have been in the ACC with FSU....SO NOW....FSU can be in the conference with Penn State!! Penn Staters WON'T have to travel far to fill up Doak-Campbell Stadium. Or anywhere else along the entire Eastern Seaboard.....the entire ACC footprint is full of Penn State alumni. Better away games in ACC country then in the Upper Midwest!

FSU joining the SEC would be full of tradition and rivalries, because FSU is no stranger to many SEC teams. FSU has faced off against Florida in '96, Tennessee in '98, and against Auburn in 2013 in the National Championships. Not to mention the recent LSU/FSU games, FSU is more like an SEC schools than a B1G school.

Tallahassee is funding major projects to upgrade its airport, fly to B1G will be cheaper with increased airport traffic. Billions of $ in research revenues from the B1G will do a lot more for Tallahassee’s economy than weekend sports. Want to in boost the local economy? Bring in more high paying jobs and affordable and housing. It really isn’t that difficult to figure out. FSU should keep UF and U of Miami on its schedule.

@@Almighty5-ww1kl It is not just AAU, FSU wants the research dollars and athletics cannot compare to billions of $ in research. The B1G is better for the University as a whole. The B1G Academic Alliance allows for additional BILLIONS for research and funding of projects. The travel argument is also fleeting cus FSU already has fans in the B1G footprint. Travel would be significantly easier for the entire fan base, except for some of fans in the south. A lot of the games would be a bowl game type atmosphere. Playing in far more major markets from DC/Chicago, LA would totally change the feel of the program. Also, FL has tons of B1G fans/alum. This is where they move for work and or retirement.

If you do your homework and go to other FSU media channels and look at the polls they conducted on the choice between the Big ten and the SEC, before the snub, all of them were overwhelmingly for the SEC. I mean the Big ten, fan-wise was blown out in all these polls. All those fans that have flipped to supporting the Big 10 are doing so out of pure emotion. As a 42 year fan and a platinum Chief, a member of TBE, I can honestly report to you that the people who actually provide financial support to our athletic program would much rather go into the SEC. In addition I have been conducting my own little informal poll and have probably asked around 35 of my SEC friends and all but two said they would love to have Florida State in the SEC. Some of them because they believe as I do we should have been in since 1991 or They think they can beat up on us prove we don't belong... Which is fine with me I welcome that fight! I really appreciated the information on the distance. By the way guys the Grove at Ole Miss is an amazing experience! Just too much damn fun! Baton rouge is awesome as well. FSU fans need to get out of their feelings and think about this logically. And don't bring up the fact that we get more money in the Big ten. Soon it will just be the two conferences and the money will even out. Besides I believe it's only a million or two more which is a drop in the bucket when we're talking about huge TV revenues.

@@jamesb0255 MOST fans DON'T go to away games if they are always used to being so close to their home stadium. BUT....the numbers of B1G alums in Florida and California already makes it EASY for them to finally get to an "away" game to see their alma mater play...whether that is Southern California or Florida. The FACT is that there are MORE Penn State fans living in any of the states in the ACC footprint than the ENTIRE footprint of the Big 10 (Upper Midwest Conference. ANY ACC school that joins the B1G Conference will make it easier for Penn Staters to go to "away" games. The ACC schools that do join The B1G will ALL have to expand their stadiums. Except maybe Miami...they'll finally experience a full stadium! Albeat with visitors cheering against them. Great video guys, good to hear your feedback. Respectfully though, y'all are showing you know more about the SEC experience than the B1G one. A few counterpoints... 1. Big Ten fans will travel to you, don't worry about that. They're passionate, they have money, they fill those southern bowl games every year, and they're always looking for more reasons to go to Florida. Whether you want to come up once or twice a year to experience midwest football on a perfect fall afternoon with the crisp air and the leaves changing, that's up to you. 2. I'd stack the tailgate and college-town atmospheres of B1G against anyone. 3. Is sometimes facing Arkansas, Kentucky, Missouri, or Mississippi State really so different than sometimes facing Purdue, Minnesota, Maryland or Illinois? I don't see it. 4. As you noted, you won't be coming alone. I imagine the B1G will also be bringing in at least 2 of Miami, Clemson, UNC, or Georgia Tech. And eventually ND. And I wouldn't rule out Texas A&M either... 5. As the B1G becomes more national, it means other things will be changing too: big games will be all day long, not just at noon. (They already are really.) We have PST viewers we need to think about now, and there's just too many good games. 6. And divisions will eventually come back too, so that more of your travel is shorter. Imagine being in a division with Miami, UNC, Penn State, Maryland, and... yes, Rutgers. You'd be battling Miami & PSU every year for the division title, and your average distance for the games that matter most drops to 750 miles. And IMHO, FSU has always felt the most Big Tennish to me of all the teams down south. Our fanbases are far better than the ACC, but we're not some snobby clubhouse either. And bottom line: The fans would love to have you, and once you're in, the conference supports you 100%.

Added Note....tens of thousands of B1G alums already live in Florida, Atlanta and the Carolinas, DMV. It is very easy for B1G fans to keep those Invitee stadiums full! Minimal travel to former ACC, soon-to-be B1G venues. As for FSU fans coming north? Sorry. But I do see loads of FSU bumper stickers and plates around NoVA/DC. And the crazy thing is lots of VA tech fans make the drive to Happy Valley for games...even though we have never played each other! Happy Valley is just one of those CFB "mecca" locations and close enough to DMV to drive. Just as Penn Staters drive to the OBX.

I think it would be pretty shortsighted/naïve to think that it is likely for the Big Ten to continue long-term, bringing more money than the SEC. I think it’s clear that the big 10 has been more savvy with their deals and negotiations. But I don’t see that lasting beyond another contract cycle or two. I don’t think the aministration really expects that to be long-term plus. I honestly would expect the SEC to surpass the Big Ten in future revenues. The way that I see it is the way that Bobby Bowden saw it and I think that’s the way that the ministration sees it too. Anybody can get up for a couple super tough games a year, as your first priority is to be more motivated than the other team, but Florida State and Clemson, for that matter, both built their reputations in the ACC. That wasn’t an accident, Bobby Bowden knew this, and so does the FSU administration. If FSU and Clemson end up in the Big Ten, this will be the reason. I guess you can call all that my opinion. But, I’m certainly convinced of it. I’ll Never forget Bobby’s melt down about having to play Florida in the NC game after having beaten them in the regular season. We soon found out why, as he got curb stomped when it was for all the marbles.

All that said, this is why I think the administration will choose the big 10. I honestly think it’s better for Florida State because they will actually gain even more advantage with the new playoff structure. They will be seeded higher in the big 10. They will have an advantage over SEC schools that they play because of it. There is no question in my mind at least that they will win more championships if they join the big 10. This is worth a few million if not tens of millions of dollars that I think they are likely lose going to the Big Ten in the long run.

I guarantee if I had run this poll before the snub that it would have been overwhelmingly SEC, and it has always been that way. As much as people don't want to accept it, the SEC didn't leave FSU out of the playoffs. I get people who don't like ESPN, but playing college football and not dealing with them is almost impossible. I also totally understand people's argument for the B1G and dont think it's a bad conference to be in, but as you said, I think it's rooted in emotions about what happened in December. Now, all of a sudden, everyone only cares about AAU and academics, which I don't remember being used nearly as often before. lol The SEC is just a better natural fit and where we should have been from the beginning. The research money is great, but it doesn't mean you'll be great at sports and not being AAU doesn't mean the university will be poor when those conferences are projected to pay upwards of 100M in TV money per school, per year in the near future. Either one is better than staying in the ACC, but I would choose the SEC, too. I think most other SEC fans, who can be a joy to deal with 😅, may give us crap until we prove we can win in the conference, but most also want to see us in there. As for the attendance numbers, the actual numbers would probably be hard to find with the way schools report it (which you mentioned). I used D1 Ticker, and they have Miami with an avg crowd of 49k, which we know isn't true! Maybe like 4 or 9 thousand, but not 49 😅 It at least gives a ballpark idea of the size. I agree with that. The B1G has a better TV partner in Fox. They are acquiring talent while ESPN laid half of theirs off. At the same time, the SEC has a massive draw, so I find it hard to see them getting left out in the cold. Now, the ACC is another story. It wouldn't surprise me if ESPN decided not to pick up the 2027 extension and dump the money into their primary brand. I think either is safer than the ACC, but the B1G does feel more stable with respect to TV contracts and revenue.

It's been reported that the Big Ten does not require AAU status to be considered for the conference. (Per Brett McMurphy and the Action Network) However, you do have to have good academics. Nebraska has not been an AAU memeber since I believe 2011, and FSU is pursuing membership. They also rank ahead of 6 B1G schools in academics per the 2024 US News rankings. I say all that to say, I think FSU could certainly be extended an invite to the B1G. At the same time, I like the SEC, too. It's a better fit for regionality and sports. There are positives and negatives to both, but either option is better than staying in the ACC!

The question they should be asking is does the SEC or Big Ten want/need Florida State. There is a lot of arrogance by FSU thinking they will just get to choose between the two. I can almost guarantee the Big Ten isn't all that interested because FSU isn't an AAU University. Every Big Ten school and every expansion has been with an AAU University. I also know there are multiple charter schools in the SEC who don't want FSU because of recruiting wars. So it is not a given that either conference is chomping at the bit to bring in the Noles. Same goes with Clemson.

Nebraska is not an AAU memeber. They lost theirs in 2011, I believe. There have been reports that AAU membership was not a hard requirement, but they value academics. FSU is ranked above 6 B1G schools in the US News 2024 rankings. They are also pursuing AAU. FSU was one of the top 10 most viewed teams in college football last year, and that was playing mostly ACC teams. They averaged 4.16M last season but over 8M against SEC teams in 2022 and 2023. They would have been 3rd in viewership in the B1G last year and 5th in the SEC, and again, that's using numbers from primarily ACC games. FSU is in a state with a massive TV market that Fox doesn't have, and ESPN probably doesn't want them in. While nothing is guaranteed, I don't see those two turning down the opportunity to add FSU.

The days of academics determining membership in an athletic conference is coming to an end with the massive TV revenue that will only increase in the future. Face it, the TV networks will control which teams are added based on the number of viewers ($) they bring. Fox, CBS, and NBC will not be sitting together in a conference room looking at a chart comparing research dollars between schools to determine who they want. They will look at TV ratings.

So, FSU would be at the top with anOSU, Michigan and Penn State.
