I was listening to the Rich Roll podcast and he was/is going through something similar (lack of energy, not interested in stuff, etc.) and he mentioned an article called "There’s a Name for the Blah You’re Feeling: It’s Called Languishing". Basically, don't feel alone! Many of us are in this weird head space. Take care of yourself!

Thanks, Virgo (I'm one, too!). I just read an excerpt... YES. That's definitely what's going on. Things are compounding and couldn't be ignored anymore. And there here it is. And as a Virgo, I want to fix everything and make it nice, and it's not that kind of problem to solve.

Thank you, Brianna. I'm always very critical of myself for not being "productive", and that just added another layer to everything. I had to just acknowledge that I needed to not be "productive" for a bit and just refuel. It's still a work in progress, letting go, but acknowledging the issue it the first step, right? There's a light at the end for sure.

Thank you, Elizabeth. With Tuffy, when he passed away, it was such immediate and heavy grief. He was never not there, and then he was just gone. The loss was palpable and I had no choice but to ugly cry for a week straight and deal with the reality of him being gone. It's still tough a year later, but the grief was more linear. With my father, not being close to him, having not seeing him in over a year, having not really spoken to him much, it has been harder to process the reality of the situation. I think the impending service freaked me out, and sent me down this spiral... The only way out is through, though, and so what was previously stressing me out, I'm now looking forward to, and hopefully getting a bit more closure.

Taking a break is always a good idea. Yes, I agree, everything finally hit you. This past year and even this year has been so odd that it has hit us all in weird ways. Dreary weather makes me feel dreary. Nice bright sunny days lift my spirits. I understand totally that you need to deal with the loss of your family members. Thinking about how fleeting life is, thinking about people who are not in our lives anymore even if we were not close, still affects us. Hope you feel better soon. Hope your trip to northern Nevada goes well.

Thank you, Marilyn. I like feeling productive and working and being creative, but I guess I just needed to refuel and reevaluate, and stop to acknowledge everything that's happened and that I've been through. Distance and lack of closeness has made the grieving process very strange. It's brought up a lot of things that I have been putting of processing for decades. The work has to be done sooner or later, so I guess now's the time. I really appreciate that support. Thanks again.

Thank you so so much for being so open and vulnerable about what you have been going through! We are all only humans so there are harder and easier times in our lives. Being a content creator and sharing any bits of your life online makes it much tougher in these more complicated cases to stay "on top" of making videos in any shape or form - your mood doesn't only affect the way your videos feel but most importantly your will to make them. And honestly, because I appreciate your work, your attitude towards life and your food-activism for the animals and the planet I much more value you feeling inspired and actually excited to create recipes/vlogs to share with us and I am happy you have taken a break to process your emotions! I wholeheartedly hope the upcoming weeks will be much better for you and that we will have a chance to see you more often on here ;) Stay safe and have a nice week ahead!

An authentic life journey is seldom a straight path toward our goals. It meanders, changes directions, starts and stops. It has it’s own rhythms. Go with the flow, and you will end up in the right place. My sympathy to you on the loss of your father and grandfather. No matter that there was a lack of closeness, when our parent dies we grieve the relationship we had, but also the relationship we did not yet wished for. Peace.
@MonsonMadeThis3 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Susan. Grief is definitely nonlinear. And you're totally right. I think the lack of connection made the initial news easier, but it's made the overall process much more complicated. It's lead to more questions and wanting to understand why there wasn't a closeness. What was my role? What was theirs? There will never be answers, but it's brought up a lot of things from my past that I've pushed to the back of my mind in an effort to just move forward. This moment was always coming, and I didn't realized how much the the "when" was out of my control.

Hi Michael, so glad to see you coming back! First, so sorry for all of the loss you’ve suffered, no matter how significant you feel it is at the time, it’s still loss and we all cope with that in different ways. Of course we had all of the 2020 stuff to just make things even more confusing and emotional forcing us to deal with things we maybe didn’t even know we needed to deal with. It always saddens me to see that people, like you who are serving others on such a high level, feel the need to explain to others why they needed to take a break, not sure why, just feels intrusive to me I guess. Your content is already so “real” and humble that to me no need for details unless it helps YOU process your emotions. Just know that you have many adoring fans who wish you all of the success you deserve.🙋🏻♀️👊💗 BTW, I just watched the new nachos video and it looks so incredible.💯. Thank you for all you do and inspiring the rest of us. 🤗

I know it's going to kill me, as I picked him put as a puppy, and have always taken him with me everywhere except the two plane trips to Michigan, one to see my sister, and the other for her funeral. As exhausting as deaths are, anticipating one is... I just can't. One thing for you: your videos always lift my spirits, even just you talking about your life. I love your channel and look forward to future videos, but take all the time you need. You are only human, and this has been a really tough year. We will all be here when you are ready! All the best to you!

There is an insert you can put in a sliding glass door that has a doggie door in it!
@MonsonMadeThis3 жыл бұрын
Can it be taken in and out? or does it stay in all the time? We need something for Hop. He LOVES being outside, but with it being so hot here in the summer, we need to regulate his access a bit.
@paulatyler59983 жыл бұрын
Yes you can take the insert out. It is like the slider but has a doggie door in the bottom. It is really easy.

We all have ups and downs. I came here to watch you cook not listen to your problems. So can you just cook and save your problems for a blog you can add a link to. Don't mean to be harsh but my time is important to me and how I use it . That is why I've stopped watching allot of channels because people decide to talk about their problems instead of using their channels like they advertise its for. I want to watch videos about vegetarian oooking not hear about problems. Life is full of problems and many of us just want an escape. My sister just died and I found out yesterday my brother has terminal cancer. Life is tough.

Wow! Your post is such a harsh review of a very generous youtube contributor...made me sad for him to read your note, but sadder for you to be motivated to post it. Praying you and your family find peace and health.

Life is tough. And it's nice to know that there are folks out there to listen to your stories, and to hear what you're going through. Hurt people hurt people, I guess, I'll just wish you and your family the best.

So can you as a viewer, maybe take some personal responsibility and read the description on the videos before watching? Not sure what kind of recipe video you expected from clicking on a video that is titled, LIFE UPDATE. What an entirely heartless and unnecessary comment to make. How do you think saying this is helpful to anyone but yourself? Are you always that selfish?
@Stracciatella222 Жыл бұрын
Quick reminder that just because you're having a hard time doesn't mean you can be an a##hole to other human beings. Life is tough, and comments like yours don't make it better. If you see a video that is not of your interest, just skip it.
