As someone who made this today right after watching the video (I couldn’t wait 24 hours to use it!) had it on a vegan Benedict tonight and it was fantastic. My 12 year old packed it in her lunch box too to jazz up her school lunch 😄. So good to see you back!

In Mexico is called Salsa Macha, the base is the chili cooked in oil and then has taken various combinations with different seeds, nuts ( pecans, almonds etc) , some even have dried cranberries and even different chiles depending on the spice level you want .

OMG made this and had it just as you served it, it's immense! I've also just had it on a sandwich, tons of salad, chilli jam and a generous spread of salsa seca. Best sandwich I've ever eaten, thank you so much for coming up with your version, it's scrumptious!

You sound like me! I have been putting it on EVERYTHING since I made it. I even combined the too hot batch with the mild batch and made, what I think to be, the perfectly spiced batch. I don't think I've eaten anything since filming this video without it. ... Frozen pizza? Yes. Tofurky sandwich? Absolutely.

Looking forward to more videos from you but remember, don't ever feel pressured to create if it doesn't feel right! Nice to see a new video from you! I was wondering where you were. Sorry about whatever happened. Please share as much or as little as you wish, knowing you have my love and support regardless. This recipe looks delicious! I’ve never heard of salsa seca and lived most of my life near the Mexico border. Maybe it’s a new thing, I’m not good with staying current. Anyway, hoping this new year brings much inspiration for you. 🥰

Thanks, Adrienne. I appreciate it. I haven't filmed the video I teased yet. Basically, I was dumped and needed to get out and start over. So, I decided to start over near my mom and best friend, in the Bay area. I'm loving it here, but feeling like I'm starting from scratch. Which is totally fine with me. I had to leave the dogs behind with him, in the house, with the yard, but hopefully one day we can work out a sharing schedule. I had never heard of it before tasting it, but now I'm hooked. It's a must try.

Holy heck!! Yummo! This totally reminds me of Dukka. Have you ever had that or heard of it?! It's an Egyptian ground nuts/seeds mixture that you eat with bread dipped in olive oil then you dip it in the Dukka (I hope I'm spelling that right!) We are making this salsa tomorrow!! Nice recipe! Hope your doing better because we love your ideas and videos!

This looks SO amazing! I'm anxious to try it soon. I'm new to your channel, and am mighty impressed with your lovely videos. I hope you're settling in nicely in SF. Change is scary but good. (I speak from experience. Don't we all?) Rick Bayless makes a fine-looking salsa macha (he pronounces it like the green tea). He describes salsa macha's background, as Bayless does so well with Mexican food. I've been meaning to try that one, too. Best of the best to you, my new friend. Thank you for doing what you do. I must say, this concept is something completely new to me but at the same time, it is such a simple and customizable condiment I think I might actually give it a go - it should keep for a rather long time considering the amount of chilli and oil :D I am only wondering if there is a way to make a version which would be barely spicy? Are there any chillies you'd recommend for those who really cannot handle much spice?
@MonsonMadeThis2 жыл бұрын
So, the chilis that I used here, California, or Anaheim, aren't spicy at all. I ended up combining my really hot batch and this really mild batch to make a perfect spice blend for me. But, if you don't like spice, the ones in the video are the way to go. very very mild.
