Hi Ryan. Just an advice of a 74 years old guy: don't think too much, you have a lovely wife, two lovely kids...what more can you ask for. It's very important that you have a hobby or two, beside my 42 years with a daily job I made color etchings/prints, I wrote a book about butterflies, for 10 years I was a radio amateur and for over 20 years I was collecting meteorites and wrote several book about them... I never had time to think too much about life or to be worried to maybe missing something. I live here in NE Thailand for about 8 years now, my wife works close to 7 days/week as a school teacher. I don't like gardening, just sitting in the house, cooking a bit and enjoying my hobbies is enough to make me feel fine...just now I'm learning high speed morse code because I'm thinking of going back to amateur radio... burn your psychology books!...Carpe diem!

Well said Peter. There is a world of fascinating things out there to occupy both mind and body. Retreating too deeply inside yourself can easily become a downward spiral. Sometimes it’s just better to reflect with gratitude, and even a little conceit, on all the good things in your life - and literally drown out all the background noise of potential future issues. I really hope Ryan finds what he’s looking for.

Hey Ryan, I have been watching things about Thailand for a year or so. There are a few observations I have made. The people in Thailand that one would consider poor seem happier than the upper middle class American colleagues. Some of these videos showed people in remote villages that were devoid of modern convenience. Yet they appear to have a joy that I don't see here. What I come to believe is this ,people in Thailand are grateful for what they have. Americans are pissed off about what they don't have. At 65 years old its inner peace I want going to hang out with a monk and not using technology for a while sounds wonderful.

Hi Ryan. Congrats on taking a break even from your semi simple life. I’ve been following your channel and now that you have all you really need, stepping away for a short break might be needed, only you can decide that. Im 80 and living north of you in a little farm community above Chiang Mai. My biggest responsibility are my chickens first, wife and I second. I don’t waste any of my time on social media, and only follow a few channels like yours on KZbin , as in my opinion it seems to be promoting , and steering people to negative thoughts and feelings more each day. One click on the news and we’re bombarded by a huge amount of channels promoting hate and despair. No matter how rich or poor anyone is, there is only so much time we each have, and your decision seems like a good one. Best of everything to you and your family from me and the chickens here in Samoeng .

A loving family and a beautiful backdrop. You are doing what every person should do, sometimes take time for yourself. Your wonderful wife recognises it too… so take the time out and recharge and come back when you are in a good headspace. Then do the same for her when she needs it…. And don’t forget to travel!

As always a great vlog Ryan and Damo. As a child, I was fascinated by stick insects and always had some in my room living off privet leaves. The fascinating thing about the species that I kept, was that the females produced viable eggs without them having to be fertilised by a male, known as parthenogenisis. Who would have thought 65 years later I would be living amongst them and Praying mantis here in NE Thailand, where I can study them in vitro. Great idea to take some time out, if that is how you find your inner self, but don't stay away too long and miss out on Hugo and Otis's development. Personally, I find my inner self by praying and meditating on the bible, although sometimes, this is difficult to do in complete silence. I am sure that your time away in the temple will give you a wonderful feeling of calm. Looking forward to Damo's vlogs. May God bless you and protect you all, Amen 🙂🙏

Media destroys reality. I know many people in Cambodia who have lots of fertile land with all kinds of fruit and nut trees. Chicken. Eggs. Rice. No sugar and insulin spikes. Even mood. Movement is the key to health. Peace. You have that. You create content and I suspect you consume little content. That’s important.
