That's a perfect message! Right in time. I've been asking myself why some of my tattoos look more dynamic and speak more than others. I totally hate plain old tattoos where people know exactly what they want. It's so boring.. I love when a client can let me tell a story with their piece. I ask a ton of questions and make a lot of suggestions even when they already come with the design they want. Being creative will surely get more interest in people who see the work and have questions about what the tattoo means. Thanks for putting that into words.

THANK YOU!!! You explain this SO WELL. Most people don't have the creativity to come up with a proper memorial tattoo that isn't just a banner with their name and birth/death dates that have been done a million times. A memorial piece can be a beautiful art piece and shouldn't require that text to represent the person.

Designing a memorial for a close friend right now. She's lost her father, husband and son in the last few years. There was a moment at the last memorial service where 3 hawks were overhead and it touched her. I'm building on that to give her peace. I'm grateful for a relationship with her so I have the insight to help her heal.

your right dude I have always had similar thinking unfortunately mostly people are literal and even the idea is brilliant they still go for a rose with a date underneath. Best wishes from UK

Awesome advice! I have tried to build a different picture for clients memorial pieces but for some people they just cannot get the date & "dad" or "mum" concept etc out of their mind, its bland and frustrating! I totally agree with you and will persevere. Thank you for the vid!

most of the tattoos I've done for family have been memorial. sentimental...sure, but you're right. there's nothing really creative coming from clients. I especially hate when they come in with some google image of someone else's memorial tattoo. anyway, thanks for another great vid!

Yeah. Nothing better than designing a memorial tattoo from another memorial tattoo. Thanks!

whenever people ask me for cornucopia tattoos I just tell them they have to go bigger. most times they go bigger. other times they take stuff out.

Great tip. But just to expand on what you said. Any Tattoo will be more interesting if it comes out of a narrative.

First mistake, having multiple consultations. Letting clients talk and brainstorm more just leads to worse outcomes. Change my mind.
