She had a lot of potential. It's weird how labels don't understand that it takes some time to grow a fanbase. There's no way her follow up could've been on the level of Somebody. But she did gain some fans who were waiting for the next single. They shouldve kept making music for them and the new fans would follow.
@casiedomingos51972 жыл бұрын
Nowadays if you ain’t making them money with the bare minimum they done with you. It’s scary how labels don’t even invest in new artist anymore. I think social media plays a huge part in it. Artist go viral and they just want to benefit from that. Artist development is something from the past. Nowadays artist are better off going independent and growing organically.

i’ve wondered this multiple times over the years and have even googled to see if other people have wondered. have never found anyone talking about it when i’ve looked for answers. i actually didn’t like her first song but liked “Around the World” with Fetty Wap so naturally it’s been kind of a question mark for me. i was never like a “Natalie La Rose fan” but thought it was weird that she kinda just dropped off the face of the Earth after a chart hit, without much question or explanation. i know her followup to the Jeremih song wasn’t a huge success, but usually labels don’t just completely give up on an artist after just one underperforming single and i never heard about any music (commercially, independently, or otherwise) from her so i was like 🤔

There’s 2 options for me. One is that she didn’t like being famous and wanted to go back to normal, or 2 she or the label knew that she would be a one hit wonder and decided to take the money and run rather than spending it on more music and promotion for a career that probably wasn’t gonna go anywhere. Getting a feature from a major artist on your breakout hit is often a red flag that you’ll be a one hit wonder (blocboy jb for example), and it looks like that might’ve been the case here

Things that makes me lean toward Natalie being Aaliyah: similar body features, slender build, small small breast, the eyes- even similar brow shape, tiny tiny waistline & stomach, on the somebody video, she did a signature move during dance routine that’s also in Rock the boat by Aaliyah. And watching Natalie video presentation she seemed to have the swag of a seasoned professional like Aalilah. And then Vamose, she’s gone. Someone brought up that Beyonce & J Z, have made sure other artists ( Ashanti, Tamia, Natalie, Toni B & Tamar, Kelly & Michelle, etc ) have either stalled or flat lined. I don’t know if that’s completely true. But it’s a lot of evil shyt that goes on behind closed doors.

I recently saw this girl and the song Somebody while going around the internet again, and I've seen a lot of comments noting how she's just "an average dancer and pretty face". And like, I get that perspective and opinion, but there's a lot of notable artists in the industry who would also generally be considered the same way. It really has to do with connections, knowing the market and building up an image/fanbase which Natalie didn't really seem to have, or atleast even get a chance to. I think she could have been a cute above-moderate star if the label didn't overestimate things and took their time. Also, other reasons could have been that: 1. There were constant comparisons (and maybe purposeful marketing) to Aaliyah 2. It probably would have been better if she was in a girl group 3. No proper introduction (although that could have been noted in the not building a fanbase part)
