While it is TRUE POGI wasn't pushed what Chris is NOT saying/overlooking, is that Pogi basically treated the last 10 days of the GIRO as a training camp....attacking and doing his "interval" work when he wanted and to the level HE wanted.

Kuss and Joregenson are fine, but in a completely different league than the last Tour winners. At the Dauphine, we will only find out what condition Evenepoel and Roglič are in. If they don't clearly dominate, they won't stand a chance on the Tour. Personally, I think Remco and Primoz are very weak this year. But I will be happy if I am wrong. That's a million dollar question isn't it? I would love to see him complete the double. Ilove to see the best rider in the 21 century made a history. But my heart goes to Roglic, even though I'm not sure if he can compete with Pogacar this year. Few years back, yes, but it's been 4 yrs since Roglic was better than Pogacar. And not to mention Primoz is a crash magnet. Also I think this year, Tadej looks stronger than the last few years. He looks leaner now and rumor said that he still needs to loose another 1.5kg for TDF, 😲. He is going to be a beast.

does anyone else see the pattern of Primoz being ultimate team builder. He went to Visma and within years it was a superteam, culminating with 3 grandtour wins in his last year. This year he is in Bora and if it werent for Pogi, Bora would already have one. Same time, where is Visma? can you imagine such a perormance from Visma last year? Looking at how things are going, Tour will be same. UAE and Bora will be the heavyweights.

I don't think it is fair to give the credit for Martinez to Roglic. Bora already was a good team before Roglic attempting to get with the best and Martinez just seems to do fine with the fine. Giving Roglic credit for Martinez' perfomance does a huge discredit to Martinez and Bora. Roglic's presence might have helped build up Jumbo (though that also is mostly due to a new vision in management), but it is way too short for him to have had a real effect on the entirety of Bora. Visma has just had insane bad luck with crashes and illnesses this year.

@@counselor5286 Pogacar is just an insane rider. There is also the matter that Remco lost a lot of time and progress with his Lombardia crash (1,5 year at least). If you look at the all time PCS ranking points divided by active years, Remco is 2nd active rider (not even accounting for his lost time), but Pogacar is well in the lead with almost double points/active year. Remco has high enough peaks to compete, he has just also lacked consistency, something Pog has had since 2020/21 already (arguably his biggest strength). In fact untill last year Remco had some higher peak climbing performances than Pog, but Pog had consistency and improved a lot in the last 1,5 years too. Remco on the other hand is more inconsistent and bit more bad luck imo (like with Covid at the Giro when he was looking really good or the crash in Itzulia now).

European Channels simply analyse and cover each race on its own merit, a sign that they respect their fans to know, appreciate and enjoy the uniqueness of each race. Pogi broke a WRIST last year and missed just enough training to make the podium, win 3 stages, and the young riders jersey and get smoked on 2 high alpine stages in the heat... By Jonas who was reliably delivering 6.5-7 watts/kg for 20+ minutes in week 2 and 3 of the Tour Unfortunately Jonas broke several ribs, blew a hole in his lungs, had blood in the lung cavity and was in hospital in Spain for so long that his own FATHER did not have any updates on his status. The man just got on the bike 2 weeks ago. If he is not ready for the Dauphine he will not be ready for the TdF... Meanwhile Pogacar won six stages, the KOM and overall at the Giro, after riding at 6-almost 7 watts /kg at will as he won stages almost on accident There are 5 weeks before the Tour. Both men will be at an altitude training camp before the Tour.. If Jonas shows up to the TdF it's already an incredible recovery that deserves all our respect. Remco's broken collarbone will go for stages, but he cannot hang with Pogi when the climbing gets serious. Primoz has a good shot if he stays upright, if he gels with his team and if he can deliver the watts in the heat on high altitude climbs long enough. Tadej's biggest opponent will be 30+ minute long, high altitude climbs in the summer heat. Not Jonas Vingegaard.

No, that's quite a while ago now, spend a few weeks on the roads in Denmark, then went to somewhere in Spain I think for a about week with his family, and did a few rides and hit some climbs, and now he has just started an altitude camp, and he was probably already going a bit on the indoor trainer before that.

i think that Pogy is the favorite, but Jonas is incredibly tough. He has wiped out in stages of the Tdf and managed to keep the lead. I mean he was working at a fish factory before winning the Tdf. If anyone can come back from serious injury it is him.

after what happened to the other GC contenders he will dominate by default imo it would be much more fun to watch if Jonas and Remco give up on GC and go stage hunting instead, but that won't happen, I can already see them fighting each other for 3rd place sigh Roglic will porbably get 2nd place, he seems to be the least injured lol

Ineos also will take Their A team. Every Yeam will meet With their best. That why TDF is the Best Tour there is😜

JV at peak form would dominate Pog like last year, but after his serious crash, injuries and long layoff, I doubt he will be at 100%. Pog's best chance to win is to go full gas the opening week and gain as much time as possible on JV as Jonas usually gets stronger in the 2nd half of grand tours.

Hey Chris, First of all, whatever Tejay and Philippa are saying needs to be discounted by a factor of 2. First, Tejay needs to learn how to pronounce Tadej's name. Whenever he talks about Pog, I need to remind myself that he's referring to Tadej, not some 'Podgikhar.' Even Christian Vande Velde graciously corrected him, but apparently, Tejay didn’t get the memo. And Philippa, our resident expert, declared Roglic was fat-6 lbs overweight-and he went on to prove how gloriously ridiculous she was. Clearly, their predictions are as accurate as English soccer fans chanting "it's coming home". I agree, this will be different for Pog because he's going to have to contend with GC riders he didn't see at the Giro. If you look at the Giro, none of the top 20 GC riders were there. That said, he's on another level this year, and having Jonas, Roglic, and Remco healthy will certainly be a test. On Jonas, I've always said that being 85%, he should go to defend his two titles. Unfortunately, there are pundits like Tejay who don't think the way we do. Tejay thinks that would be bad for Jonas's psyche, but what do I know? One last thing: I know Jonas is a top-echelon rider, but he was only able to get on his bike 5 weeks before the Tour, and 5 weeks, according to LA, is not a lot of time to get ready. We'll see what happens. Fingers crossed Tadej takes this TDF home. After all, what's a race without a little drama and a lot of expert 'insight' from Tejay and Philippa?

@@dadonwelfare based off what? I’m not a Pogi fanboy, but if you are basing things off last years tdf when Pogi was injured and I think was only 90% based off of things like how Thomas dropped him then that’s a bad measure. This year it’s Jonas who’s had the messed up prep and Pogi has increased his power and has lost weight. Jonas is an oldschool rider in that he preps the whole year for just the tdf so the prep matters. Pogi just did the Giro as a training ride so I expect him to be fresh. You never know what could happen and wouldn’t base anything off last years results.

Any pundit who is talking up an epic Tadej, Primoz, Remco and Jonas four way battle at the Tour simply wants to create false hype to increase subscribers and views for their show. May be its also an American thing - artificially hype up the Tour at all costs even if the reality is otherwise. Everyone knows there is no way a guy goes from almost dying by the roadside, to surgery in hospital, to riding a bike for a few weeks and to winning a grand tour three months later. No way Jonas will be competitive. Chances are he won't even turn up. Froome, Bernal, Cavalli, etc have not fully recovered for years. It has taken Alaphillip almost three years to recover from his Liege crash. Beyond the physical fitness, there is also a huge mental and psychological damage that takes long to heal. Cavalli can't feel safe in the peloton almost two years after her crash. For a long time Remco had a problem with descending following his Lombardia crash. No one know how Jonas' body will react to actual racing. It is not a machine to simply get switched on. Besides the physical, Jonas will take several months or even years to even psychologically integrate in the peloton and learn to descend again in a group. It is like starting all over again. As for Remco, again everyone knows he is not a first Tier Grand Tour rider. No way he is competitive against Pogacar. It is even worse he is coming from an injury. That leaves Pog and Rog who has not convinced at Bora. At Paris Nice even Vlasov was challenging him for leadership.
