Letting him by wouldn't help though, and actually wouldn't have help (in most of the likely scenarios) even if he had 2 extra points. He just needs to finish in front of Leclerc... The only thing Max can really do is comprise Leclerc's strategy (which Ferrari will probably take care of themselves) or maybe back Leclerc up so Checo can pass him, in which case he would have to be in front of them.

I think DRS trains are cool! The most memorable part of the 2008 Canadian GP to me was the Trulli Train, and that was the race that Kubica won! In the modern era it's even more interesting because it forces strategic responses.

I feel like those strategic responses aren't strategic at all but rather they're very formulaic. When the teams spend all their time figuring out how to get cars away from other cars, that's not ideal for us.

@@Real28 well then the problem is with the tyres and fuelling, as it has been since 2010. DRS is a net good as it stands, and if you ask me, the more that cars can use it the better. Heck, up the threshold to 1.2 even. If they fix everything about the sport that makes it more a game of resource management over a race distance than of raw speed, then we can start to think about removing gimmicks like DRS. As it stands, this is a local minimum of shittiness.

Sorry I don't understand your comment. If Max is in P1, Checo P2 and Chuck P3 how would Max be able to hold up Charles without doing the same to Checo? Now should Max decide to act like _a Teammate/an adult_ by letting Checo pass him (giving up 1st place to Checo - which I don't believe he'll do) then holding up Charles, so Checo can hopefully build up a lead, that could work. Unless you've got a strategy in mind that you didn't share (or if it was so obvious you didn't feel you had to share it and I'm the only idiot who didn't pick up on it) as to how Max can stay in 1st and still screw up Charles' race (using under/over cuts - out strategizing Ferrari, like thats hard to do) so that Checo stays P2 I'd love to hear it. I'm always interested in hearing different strategy scenarios.

Personally I like the DRS rules as they are now. It's exciting for me to see if cars can get into DRS range before the DRS can be activated. I think reducing it to the end of the first lap makes the race more sprint racy.

IT KINDA DEPDNS ON WHAT THE TEAM WANT, REMEBER THE TEAM HAVE NOT HAD A 1-2, So it seems that they want it as much as checo. Afterall Verstappen as said he doesnt look at the stats so 1 more win wouldnt really mean anything, it will only be another win to the stat book which like i said Verstappen doesnt care about. I think if Verstappen lest checo through and they can secure a 1-2 with Checo infront I think thats a likely decission they will do as not only will it garantee thier first 1-2 for the championship but it will improve team morale and fix any bridges broken. What i think will happen Vertappe nwill take off like a rocket and give it till the first pitstop and see where Checo isbefore any decisisons are made. Best case scenario would be that Max pulls out ahead from the start, then they switch them during pit stops so Max plays rear-gunner for the second stint, then they switch at the end to give Max the win and Checo P2 in the championship. Everybody wins and gets what they want.

I doubt Checo will need any help unless RB pull a Ferrari level strategy like putting him on wets. Then again if that happened Ferrari would probably panic and pit both their cars to do the same. Or Checo makes a mistake and Max demolishes his villain arc by giving up his lead of 30 seconds to Sainz. Then proceeding to hold up Leclerc in sector 3 until it's just a train of 19 cars and Sainz lapping them every 5 laps or so 🤔

I think DRS is a gimmick but I think it's a good thing. I think one improvement would be that you lose it if you pass between the trigger line and the activation line. It feels a bit bad when someone gets past in that window then has DRS while in front. I also think it would be more interesting racing if drivers were more focused on racing and not trying to game the DRS quite as hard but DRS is a good thing overall.

I really don't understand why everybody is talking about how Max can help Perez in this race?? The only thing Perez can/needs to do is finish in front of Leclerc... nothing that Max can do to help there. The only situation Max can help is when Leclerc doesn't get any point and Max is 10th and Perez is 11th and he lets Perez pass for that 1 point... He could and should have helped last race... in that race it mattered... I don't see how he can now.

Giving him the place in the last race wouldn't have actually made as much difference as everyone seem to think. If Checo was 2 points ahead, provided it's a normal race, he would still need to finish in front of Leclerc to beat him because Leclerc has more wins. The only scenarios where it would have made a difference would be if neither of them get points or if they're 9th and 10th. I do wish he had just given him the place, but it's been blown way out of proportion and we don't know what been discussed in the team.

If Perez and Leclerc crash (a situation that is somewhat possible considering they start next to each other) and neither of them score points then Leclerc gets P2 on countback. Which would mean Red Bull losing a 1-2 in the championship over Max's petulance.

As I said, I think he should have given him the position in Brazil, it's just not as big a deal as some people are making it out to be. In all other cases the incident in Brazil doesn't have any impact on the standings. In other words people are making a big deal out of something that's no big deal at all.

If anyone in the team, be it an engineer or a mechanic or driver or a designer, feels that he not getting the rewards for the hard work he put in and his team members are not helping to get the best result possible he will never work for the betterment of the team anymore. No team wants that especially the team that will have the lowest CFD runs next year. Personally I hate team orders. But I am all for it at last 3-4 races of the years to get the best result for the team. I support Max's decision but he deserves the criticism he gets with it.

Even if he would, Max couldn't help Perez anymore. Since Leclerc and Perez are tied, points wise, it will be the one finishing in front of the other that will be vice-champion (for what little its worth). Max letting Perez pass would be of no use if Leclerc is already in front or the opposite. Even the only possibility where they could finish tied again (both finishing right behind the other in the 8-9-10 place with the last having the quickest lap), Max wouldn't have any impact. Max left the only possibility to help in Brazil, for a petty reason (he obviously forgot how Perez help last year or even gave him his victory in the round right after the infamousMonaco). I would love to see Redbull loose the 1-2 championship finish because of this, would be a good lesson.

Being that Perez and LeClerc are tied, Perez has to finish in front of LeClerc no matter what. I don’t know how Max can help except to slow up Charles if Charles is 2nd and Perez is third to give a chance for a pass.

Imo, it depends whose got pace... If it's vs Ferrari, he'll help, but if Hamilton is fastest, then Max will do everything he can to get P1 against Hamilton again. If Hamilton doesnt finish P1, then he went from 7 time world champ, to not a single race win in an entire season... Which would be pretty ouch...

Won't happen but my guess is Max will do his thing as a tow truck driver for Checo, but this will probably push Checo to go beyond his abilities and ruin his tyres as a consequence. Not only because Max is better in tyre management but also due to driving in the slipstream of Max all the time which disturbs the normal cooling the car would get in free air.

Perez and Leclerc are on the same amount of points, so all Perez needs to do is to finish ahead of Leclerc to come second in the championship. The other way around is true for Leclerc.
