This is the best video out there for a Model 12 firing pin replacement! Thank you for leaving making it and leaving it up.

I'm glad you folks got some use out of it. I originally made this for a guy at work so he could replace his firing pin and I just left it up here for all the world to see in case someone else needed it.

Thank you so much. I was wondering what that spring was for on top of the bolt. Mine must of come loose and was jammed in sideways and I never knew what it did or what it was for. This helped me tremendously.

I just replaced the firing pin retractor. The round bit at the top sheered off during fire. Oh well, she's an 87 year old gun so I can't complain.

My MOD 12 / 20 ga fires and ejects spent shells but does not load from the magazine tube to the receiver. Any idea what is wrong with my MOD 12 ?

Any advice on trigger group takedown? Need to figure out why my safety isn’t moving back and forth.. seems like the little ball bearing that holds it is stuck, dosent move unless I pry it up and slide the safety over

I’d have to take mine apart and just figure it out just like you would. So no I don’t have any ideas off the top of my head.

Do you know how to remove the extractor? On mine the screw that the firing pin reset bar pivots on is broken off. Instead of trying to extract what was left of the screw tip i found a stripped bolt and have moved everything to the new bolt except the extractor. Looking at the new bolt it looks like the spring tension is what is holding it nut I cant see how to release it. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I figured it out! Hold the extractor from the side with a pair pliers and rotate counterclockwise 90 degrees then pull strait out. I pointed the bolt face into a small plastic container in case the spring and follower came flying out but they were pretty gunked up and had to be worked out. Putting it in the new bolt was a matter of putting the spring and follower in their hole, holding the extractor with the claw side up then using the flat on the side of the extractor to compress the spring while pushing it into the recess and finally rotating it 90 degrees clockwise. If I had to do it again I doubt that it would take 2 minutes.

Curtis Reinke using that plastic tub or a plastic bag was a wise move on your part. Looking for crap that flew into the next county sucks!

After I put it back together the firing pin doesn't move freely like it did before I disassembled it. It feels like it is scraping against something. How do I fix this?
@stearman3 жыл бұрын
I can’t tell without seeing it in my hands. I’d take it back apart and fit each part one at a time and make sure it moves freely before adding another part. You’ll figure it out that way.

Would a weak firing pin spring cause it to misfire sometimes? My model 12 is doing that. Thanks I appreciate it much
@stearman3 жыл бұрын
Possibly. I’d also look to see if the tip is conical or partially broken off.

Any advice is your screw to take down the bolt is still staked in?

Not sure what you mean.

I’m working on a 16 ga right now that has a broken firing pin and the screw is staked ! Maybe someone had them work loose and staked them , or it could have been factory .
