Fuxkin love Sam. Regardless of indifference of training style his outlook around lifting is incredible
@jacobfaughtrunningproducti974
@jacobfaughtrunningproducti974 6 ай бұрын
I started lifting at the start of December, and as a distance runner, running every day, 50+ miles a week, its harder to lift hard everyday while still managing to recover to run my best. I started at 5'7 122 lbs(not even able to bench 95 lbs) and now 3 and a half months later im 5'8 145 lbs and i can bench a plate now. I lift 5 days a week probably around 90 minutes each day, i take weekends as as rest days since thats usually my races/long runs, but if i have a rough track workout mid week ill take a day off and replace it with a day on the weekend. Im at around my goal weight for now since im still running distance, i dont want to go above 155 while im still running. My goal is to be able to bench 150 and run a 4:40 mile by the end of may. So that would be adding 15 lbs to my bench and taking 12 seconds off my mile in a little over 2 months. Lifting has really helped my running and ive already dropped my times pretty well and feel a lot stronger as a runner. If theres anyone else out there that runs as well as lifting id love to take some advice on how to train better.
@yungdaggrdick
@yungdaggrdick 6 ай бұрын
Running is going to completely multiply you cardiovascular endurance, and leg build in general. However, simply put- if you’re looking to get big- long distance running will drastically hinder your size due to the amount of calories you burn and muscular fatigue. Good luck.

Sam if u read this. You can't or shouldnt (for various reasons) go to the gym every day of your life once you do start lifting. As you get older you'll be ok with not going the gym EVERY day. Eagerness and the motivation you have is good at your age but don't be too hard on yourself. If you truly love what your doing and i can tell you are, youll never lose the desire to constantly improve and hit the gym.

The comment about growing into your clothes is so relevant - I've been lifting for a while but can't really see the results unless I'm wearing a T-shirt and realize it's much tighter than it used to be

Has a 50 year old female thats suffering from insomnia due to severe menopause symptoms. I go to the gym 5 to 6 days per week, 2hrs a session. Lifting the heaviest i can. I get depressed how hard it is for me to gain muscle . I feel agony all over my body every day 😢😢😢. But i keep the faith, hoping consistency will pay off. God bless you all from the UK 🥰

47m here. I spent my whole life stagnant and seditary. Year and a half ago i quit drinking and dieting then that turned into working out. This kid (lets be real, hes a kid) is so even tempered and well spoken and thought out about weightlifting that hes a daily inspirating to keep working on it. It's a lot slower road for people our age, keep at it

reduce hours of training by bringing up intensity and 6 days a week for naturals is unproductive
@Cookiekeks
@Cookiekeks 6 ай бұрын
I know Sam is giving the impression that working harder is always better, but trust me overtraining is very much a thing. 2h every session is very likely excessive. I've personally had the issue that my chest didn't grow, and the way I fixed it was not by doing more but by cutting the sets in half, and it actually worked. You only have a limited capacity to recover, especially as a natural, so please be careful not to overdo it.

The strategy if you're not Sam is to always go, no matter how you feel. If you do one or two sets and you're still not feeling like the session is productive - THEN you go home.
