I am Polish and I grew up reading books on which the Witcher games are based. Each time I see a non-Polish channel talking about the franchise, my heart swells with pride. Seeing a Polish property inspiring others, even outside boundaries of our country shows that you don't need to be American in order to do great things. I hope that one day I too will do something that will move and inspire people of different nationalities.

You are mistaken in one regard. Attack on Kaer Morhen took place long before Geralt's amnesia. It was a ruin even during the action of the books. Home only to Vesemir, Lambert, Eskel, Geralt, and Coen who wasn't even a Wolf School witcher.

You got it wrong about the fall of the Witcher schools. The three schools in the books (Cat, Wolf and Griffin) were attacked and overthrown BEFORE the books even began. Geralt and other Witchers (other then Vessamir) only survived by not being at the school when the raids happened.

Never read anything about that in the main books. On the contrary. One of the highre up mages, before the counsil of the sorceresses invited Geralt to join them, he declined because Geralt wanted not to be the puppet of someone like that.

TW3 did a really good job showing how this somewhat romantic castle and serene valley weren't as nice as they appeared. Hundreds of young boys suffered died there: Killed by the Trials and/or by monsters, slaughtered by riled-up peasants, beaten to the point of dying, exposed to physical trials which would make most wish for death, etc. If you explore a little, you can find the cave where the Trials of the Grasses were first conducted. And those were hardly pleasant. A recovered record states that 4 out of 5 young boys died during the Trial of the Grasses: Heart failure, multiple organ failure, brain damage and cerebral hemorrhaging. So it's not very surprising that Lambert doesn't really like being there and is so at odds with Vesimir, who seems to want to stay there until the walls of the keep collapse completely.

I need more of these videos. Thank you for creating these videos. In the future, maybe speculate a little bit about each monsters biology. In your drowners video, i thought about the drowners head. The cranium of a drowner is much larger than a humans. Which is curious to me, a creature that is primitive and barely conscious, why would they have such large heads? My theory is larger based on how a drowners possible breathing cycle occurs. Drowners do not possess gills, instead they have very human-like nostrils. I believe that drowners have some sort of filtration lung like systems that is housed in what would be there sinuses. This “system” would allow them to make the switch from breathing in water then to breathe in air. I haven’t seen drowners come up to the surface for breathes of air. Drowners spend most of there time sendentary under water waiting for possible prey or on land scavenging. I feel that a possible conversion system for such a life style would need to exist. My other reason is that maybe the large head is due to a pair of “swim bladders” like a fish. A fishes swim bladder is a organ that via control of air in allows it to move up and down while the creature is swimming. The swim bladder works like a submarine. I feel that the placement for a organ would be perfect in the head. The drowners body layout is similar to a humans. When a person swims they swim face first. The swim bladder in the head would allow for a incredibly quick rise upwards in the water without having to exert much energy to swim. It would also allow for a very quick dive into the water too, increasing it speed in the water. Both theories in my opinion work.

The Trial of the Grasses and Trial of the Dreams are practiced by all Witcher Schools, but the training itself is very unique dependent upon the school the children finds themselves in. After the Trials, any training practices we see at Kaer Morhen shouldn't be seen as the norm amongst any other school.

The kids were either given up by parents or guardians or they were homeless anyway. It's a shame that so many children died yes, but it at least gave them a CHANCE at doing something with their lives.

Stewart Orr not true, they were often collateral if a family could not pay the witcher with money or items or if the witcher demands a child in exchange for their service.
@Your-Least-Favorite-Stranger3 жыл бұрын
Children chosen to become witchers are brought in by what's called The Law of Surprise. Basically a witcher helps someone and sets the price; they could take money, goods, or enact the law of surprise. The last option means a child, often the family's firstborn, will be taken and have the option of becoming a witcher. They can choose whether to become a witcher or to return home - those who stay go through the trials, those who don't get shipped off or are sent home on their own (dont recall the process). Orphans wouldn't be of much value to a Witcher
@dorkeldink98246 жыл бұрын
Hey I love the lore and the video. I just wanna clear up that Kaer Morhen fell long before Geralt got amnesia. He was killed at the end of the books series and once revived had amnesia. That was the beginning of the fist game. In the witcher books Geralt brings 12 year old Ciri to train as a witcher in Kaer Morhen. The opening scene of Wild Hunt with Geralt dreaming of Ciri training at Kaer Morhen is from the time they spent their in the first book. At that time Kaer Morhen was already in shambles and there are only our 4 beloved witchers there. All you get from the books is that the Stronghold fell almost 100 years ago and none of the witchers will talk about it. This also ties to why the 4 haven't gotten more kids and started training more witchers, none of them know how to perform the mutations required. All of the specially trained alchemists and witchers that performed the mutations died when the castle fell, and time had not been kind to the hidden books that explained how to carry out these mutations.
@vichodeivis12197 жыл бұрын
Sad truth: At its peak, witchers were guilty of most of the crimes they are accused now. The books point that were almost 50 witchers in Kaer Morhem. With a a success ratio close to 1/10, that means at minimum of around 500 children trained by the witchers. This was probably in the span or a century or at least many decades, true. But we are talking about hundreds of dead children. Enough to spark their reputation.
@deuscognito89007 жыл бұрын
Vicho Deivis the children taken we never cared about to begin with, and would have most likely died without the adoption of the Witcher Schools. Yes, Witchers were the direct cause of death to these children, but as I said, most of them would have died of starvation, exposure, or disease anyways.

Couple thing i would like to add and straighten if you don't mind: You said that fanatic attack on Kaer Morhen that turned it into what it is now happened during Geralts amnesia which is not right at all. From books we get to know that those events happened 50 years before Triss was born and Geralt was very young witcher on the trail during the attack (like all living witchers except of Vesemir who survived slaughter in fortress). Geralts amnesia is basically a transition from saga ending into games, many years after that occured. The main reason for the attack is a book called "Monster, or witcher description" written by anonymus priest. Priests and some sorcerers hated Witchers due to their mutations, beeing ungodly etc. Spreading superstition, false allegations and gossips made common folk attack fortress that fell only because of sorcerers. Origin for Kaer Morhen and Witchers is at the first steps of humanity on this continent, when they were nothing more but invaders and colonists. They were created by combined efforts of alchemists, sorcerers and other let's say scientists to clear a path through hostile environment for human expansion. Can't say if taking stranded, orphaned children happened from the start or it's a way to try and preserve Witchers. In case you will plan on making video on Geralt himself i just want to hint some tougher to find facts like that his age is about 100 but his hair color is caused by extra mutations only he went through due to his phenomenal tolerance to standard procedures. Anyways, loving the saries, saw all videos so far and you are doing fantastic job.
