My objective while playing this game was to collect as much information as possible without dying. I would use graph paper, ruler and colored pencils to map out all of the details of each floor level. If I died, all the maps would be carried over to the next prisoner to use. It was a difficult assignment because while mapping, a guard could open a door or come around the corner at any moment. I didn't have access to any maps or internet at the time, so I made my own, which was half the fun. I still have my detailed, full color, thick wall, floor maps, which look very close to the maps online. Even though you start out with 3 lives, if you die, you don't really die, but instead get injured, stripped of all weapons and treasure and thrown back in your cell. You then recover from your injuries, clock another guard and repeat. You are officially dead when you lose your last life. A memorial cross was made for each prisoner at different locations of the maps where they died. Once all the maps were completed, I would try to see how fast I could go through or try not to die at all.

I stumbled upon this video and it reminded me of a game that I have completly forgotten about. I use to play it when I was 6 or 7 and the sounds of the game just took me back to a wonderful and simple time. I can't get over the fact that in a million years I would of never remembered this game or anything about it, but as soon as I heard every little sound it makes I remember playing it for hours and I'm getting all of these flashbacks. When I see the gameplay I also get overwhelmed with the memories but I guess sound hits much deeper than picture. It's just wonderful. Thank you for that lost memory. Now I'll stay all day just reminiscing about them good old days. Another thing I just can't believe that I played this as a kid with all these bones, prison cells, Nazis, and all that Hitler arts laying around, I think when you are a kid all that you focus on is the shooting and the colors, that's it😅.

The frame rate is actually above 5 in this one. And there's no hitching! Amazing what we were capable of almost 2 decades ago. (It's not my card. Metro: Last Light, Anno 2070 and every other Direct X 9, 10 and 11 game ran fine, max settings.)

I used to get scared playing this game. The music, the suspense the gunshots and the moving around would give me goosebumps and I'd shut my PC down and dig my head into a pillow and sleep. The next night, same thing repeats. Those were funny days.

These Days my computer, which has had cost 2500 kBugs once, had a 40MB harddisk, one huge MB of Memory (whose single chips captured half of the mainoard) and it CPU ran at 13 MHZ. A soundblaster 16 was a luxury device that times! ...and even the porn pics were more unspectacular and less resoluting than those images, they show you as an example within some body piercing articles on Wikipedia.

i played this when it first came out; it is still better than Call of Duty Ghosts or Battlefield 4. Both franchises have lost their way. I still love the very first and 2nd Call of Duty, it is still epic game play that engrosses you in its own world. I remember feeling like i have traveled back in time. The game play was and still is cinematic and just pulled me in, it was a true escape. Man o man i wish that some game developer could give me that rush of adrenalin and excitement i feel while i still play COD 1 & 2.

I bought Black Ops 2 and didn't even finish it. I will never play Ghosts, I think I am finished with any future releases of COD altogether. I just don't care anymore.

I loved this game and it's sequel! Spear of Destiny! At the time, I was trying to learn computer programming and figure I could have earned a PhD in C++ Programming in the time I wasted on this game! To me, this was the original first person shooter. Now days, the same idea is rehashed with fancier graphics & sounds. (Good Old Sound Blaster sound cards! And VGA/EGA graphics cards! The Good Old Days!)

dragonmorpheus1 Maze war, but that's getting way back there. Wolfenstein may not have been the first, but it put all the elements together. Plus the tech and work that went into making wolf3d is what helped make doom and quake such groundbreaking games.
