It sounds like Ashlie made out in the deal. The court orders her to spend 6 months in a drug treatment facility while Curtis spends at least 15 years in jail, and Henry is dead. Manipulating people's feelings isn't considered a crime, and the court sees her as somebody who can contribute to society if she beats her addiction.

I definitely think she's a huge POS! And junkies by Nature are very manipulative. Even if he gets out of prison, the trajectory of his life has changed drastically, he will always be a felon. But, how much can a person be manipulated into obsessive and paranoid Behavior so bad that you kill someone? I think he's an abusive mate. He might not necessarily hit heard but he's very controlling and that's abusive. I do hope she gets clean only so she can realize the damage she has done. The true Innocents are the children.

To be fair, drug "treatment" is completely and totally fake. The only drug "treatment" programs that have more than about a 5% "success" rate is methadone and few 12 step programs (this was a 12 step based "treatment" facility) support methadone "treatment" She should have gotten a LOT more time, like at least 10 years. But her drug addiction was not being "treated" and her breaking the "rules" int he "treatment" facility is justified.

Interestingly, in that case the man who did the shooting was not indicted. A grand jury decided it was self defense. Horrible situation all the way around. Totally unnecessary. The little boy lost his dad, new wife lost her new husband, and step dad didn’t get in trouble for escalating the conflict. It was a hard case but I agree with the ruling of self defense. 6 months in rehab!? Holy crap. She got off practically scott free! That's insane. I've been sober for 5 years on Sep 17th. I was addicted to opiates. Similar story. Car accident. Script from a less than responsible doctor who continued to fill them way longer than they should've. When they cut me off, I moved to Heroin. After being involved in that life for years and somehow managing to make it out alive (mostly) in-tact, one thing that I always thought to myself was, "Thank God I wasn't born female." Because I know for a fact that I would have used my body to get drugs or, more likely, gotten turned out by an opportunistic dealer. Young women who become addicts are so incredibly vulnerable to being trafficked, among other things. I don't know that I would have made it out if that were what I had to deal with regularly.

@MeganVictoriaKearns 11 ай бұрын
I had the same experience. Mid 2000's, legit injury, over prescribed, cut off abruptly, had become dependent, sought illegal opiates, full addiction set in, typical misery and chaos ensued. I'm a woman and feel extremely fortunate I never had to resort to selling my body. I had a lot of savings that I sadly blew right through and I also made money working for dealers. I'm not naive though, so I realize I can never claim that falling down to a high level of desperation wouldn't eventually result in me going to that extreme. I'd like to think that under no circumstances would I ever do that, but the reality is most women do end up resorting to selling themselves at some point. Like I said, I feel fortunate. But you are absolutely correct that most female addicts do wind up in prostitution. I've personally known 8 female addicts and 7 of them sold their bodies at some point. Very, very sad and scary and hopeless place to be in to justify doing that. Very sad and very telling of the hold addiction can have on a person.

Hello Dr. Grande😃🥰 Thank you for the video! Although all true crime cases are mind-boggling, It's situations & scenarios like the one you're speaking of today that both confuse me & inrage me at the same time. Makes zero sense as to how they thought this would even work out. I hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend!

It's really unfortunate that most of society views "being in a relationship" as the "end-all be-all" in life. I observe individuals calling themselves losers for not being in a relationship or how they're always searching for "The One". Even social media likes to romantize relationships and push them onto us. I'd argue, relationships should be viewed more along the line of sacrificing a part of yourself. At the drop of a hat, I'll see most people go into a relationship, not knowing how much of themselves they are willing to sacrifice. And in most cases, they end up giving up more than they knew possible. Such was the case for Henry, he unknowingly sacrificed 100% of himself. His entire being was at the disposal of Ashlee. It's as if in his mind, he had already married her; "and till death do us part". And if the idea of being alone is so disturbing to you, atleast know how much you're willing to give up beforehand.

Nicely said. Everytime I get into a relationship I completely lose myself and my personality just to make the person happy. It drains the life out of me. And it’s hard because I do love them but I don’t know what to do once it reaches this point

As a chronic pain case, crumbling spine, I don’t agree. Opioids let me move and become a human again. It’s the abusers of opioids that make the headlines. I don’t snort, smoke, peel or generally alter the pill in any way. I took it as prescribed and it did help me regain enough movement to get some life. I did “get off” it as I’m not wanting to become dependant, but without it as a pain reliever, I’d probably be dead anyway. I ask my consultants, what’s the best pain reliever to date, that’s non opiate. They say “nothing”.

@@louise2467 Oh sure. I agree. Some people do need them. When I was getting off them years ago a counselor I was seeing said something to the effect of “I’m too young to be dependent on opioids.” I asked “36 is too young to be hurting and in pain?” He replied “No that’s not it. You’re too young to be dependent upon and ‘On’ them constantly. As tolerance goes up we need more or stronger meds. At 36 by the time I was older I’d need so much to just be normal that it didn’t make sense.”

[4:41] Wow. How hard would one have to hit somebody to bend a hammer like that? I wouldn't even think that was possible. My hammer has smashed many rigid things throughout its life and it's still as straight as the day I got it. They're made to be... tougher than nails, after all. I can't even imagine the force required to bend a steel hammer over someone's head. As morbid as it sounds, I feel like a skull would give way far sooner than a hammer would. She left and came back hours later, but Henry lived, and had even dragged his body to get help, but he was too injured. Both of them took him to the desert and buried Henry alive in the desert.
