It occurred to me that your channel provides an historical perspective of England’s canal system, and you have fostered interest in the eyes of the public that the development of the canal network was the backbone of the industrial revolution. More importantly, you’ve fostered interest in conserving the canal system as an integral element of British heritage that should always be maintained and enjoyed.

My mum and dad had their wedding reception in the Waterloo Hotel about 70 years ago! She said it cost 3 shillings and 6 pence for adults, 1 shilling and 6 pence for kids and 5 shillings for table wine. She’s 93 now but has loved seeing old Runcorn on your vlogs. I’m really pleased you have been made so welcome in my home town. 😊

There’s a good parable relevant to you guys... “A man who was traveling came upon a farmer working in his field and asked him what the people in the next village were like. The farmer asked "What were the people like in the last village you visited?" The man responded "They were kind, friendly, generous, great people." "You'll find the people in the next village are the same," said the farmer.” Everywhere you two go, you’re greeted in that same warm, open, friendly manner ... says a lot about you I think. A really interesting video again.. especially about the dry dock... I never knew they existed . More of the same please!

During lockdown I watched all your videos from the beginning until I caught up to a current one. So, Thank you for that. It gave me a wider view of the world while I was here in my village in Wales. What was great was seeing many places in NW England that I know so well. Last week and this week you mentioned The Bridgewater Canal, which interested me greatly. Only today I discovered in my family history research that my 4x Great Grandfather, Samuel Atherton (born 1810) was a flatman/waterman/sailor on that canal. My 3x GGmother, Mary Ann was born in Manchester but baptised in Warrington in 1829 - so obviously the whole family were moving up and down the canal. I am quite chuffed to discover I have at least one waterman as an ancestor! Thanks again for your videos. I look forward to watching them just after 4pm each Friday. BW. Chris.

What a lovely video, thank you so much. I loved the dry dock section, it reminded me of going into a dry dock when I was in the merchant navy. By the way, I have used your beef stew recipe quite a few times and it is so sucessful, thanks. I am also an Authorised Marriage Celebrant and I wish that I could have been your celebrant, because I am sure your would have had a wonderful marriage. God Bless, Adam.
