Anyone who doesn't have instant yeast, put the yeast water and sugar together first, let it sit until it becomes foamy, then proceed as usual 🖤

A little trick baker's sometimes use. Rather than putting flour down on the bench for kneading...use a little oil on your hands instead. It will keep the dough from drying out.

It's very easy. I had a brain tumor removed, and since I couldn't work, I took up baking again. Of course I had to be super careful as I have no balance nerve on one side. Making and kneading bread or buns by hand is calming. If I can do it 3 weeks after brain surgery, you can too, and the best part is, if they don't turn out, you try again and again until you get it right. She is the first one I have come across who said "Don't add all the flour at once". Most people do add it all. Where you live and the humidity play a big factor in how much to use. If you live in a dryer area, less flour needed. Humid area, a bit more. It's fun to teach yourself how to do it. I had to pretty much relearn how to do it myself and people LOVE the buns I make now. (I add different dried spices to mine. My daughter loves garlic buns and all I add is a table spoon of garlic seasoning!)

Update: This Amish bread was a breeze to make and came out excellent. A tad of sweetness, texture was nice and soft. WAS bc it's already gone 😅. Successful Test: I had a sweet tooth so I split the dough 65/35 and used the smaller piece to test rolling with some apple pie filling (spread and rolled like cinn bread). I did an egg wash and sprinkled crystal sugar over before baking. Made a fab dessert bread too. Taste was really good. But I overstuffed it so it would not stay pinched together my bad, taste was excellent. Will definitely make this again but next time I'll mix up enough dough to make both, the Amish bread and my dessert.👍👍👍👍👍
