With a Mini, especially a 90's Mini, there is always more rust than you could possibly imagine.

As the owner of an mpi I'm allowed to say they suck . When it comes to rust that is they rust everywhere but it's another one saved . Great to see you working in the new shop 👍

On first glances the boot floor looked 👌. Until you turned the camera around to the big hole 😮. Plus the wheel arch is definitely past it's best. Nothing you can't handle though. I enjoyed doing my back panel, seems like years ago now. Nice 🇬🇧 socks by the way 👌. Love that colour.

when mine was 8yrs old it needed a full bootfloor, rear valance, sills, dash top, scuttle etc

Having owned a few Minis, it's always worse than you thought! 😂 My favourite time was taking a wire brush to prepare a small rust hole about 1" diameter and ending up with a patch about the size of a post card!...

Standard rust so far chap. I like the feeling when I sweep up after rust repairs, when it gets to the 6th or 7th bucket full - I think 'yup, thats about right for that end of the car' - onto the other end.

Mate. Me and my dad are doing up a Mk1 golf. I also have been told that there’s an abandoned Garage over in France with some luxury sports cars. I know where an old motorbike with a Flat front Tyre is. It’s an old Yamaha this bike.

Looks easy enough for you to do, looks like normal repairs for minis. Are those speakers factory for a MPI?

Yeah unfortunately it’s standard stuff on late minis. Yea those are standard rover ones. Same as my sidewalk also.

Late minis are so bad. Was dissapointed to find my old mpi cooper had been scrapped a couple of years after i sold it due to extensive rust. Dunno what rover were doing with their steel back then.

Funny how some rot and other don't. My '89 mini has the odd tiny bit of rust but nothing like that. Its never had a resto. Painted it a few years back and that was it. Please dont time-lapse the hole process of putting the back panel in. Would like to see your steps! Hope all is well! Still availing of your minimine code.

Got the same rust spot under my rear window. Rest of the panel is ok. Took a wire brush to the rust spot and there is a small hole. How would you go to fix if it were only that hole? Full panel? Cut out and try to get the bends in it? Or filler😅?

Yeah Rust is a car worse enemy , sort of like a Bad Friend ..... If it were me I would do a new floor pan , one inner wheel arch d/s you already have the rear panel , this is purely for ( l don't wanna have to go back to the same area in 3 years time) 😮😮😮😮 The saying is ..... Do it once properly 🙄🥴🥴🥴🥴🥴😁

Reshelling isn;t restoring imo. You're just building a new car from scratch using what few parts ecxist on the priginal and whateve rother new/used parts you can find while slapping the cars identity on it.
