Walking around the edge of a field is also respectful to the land. You guys took the right attitude. That farmer probably expected confrontation but Paul diffused expectation. Good for him. Beautiful scenery, Mark. We are both fortunate to have so much nature surrounding us. Thanks for linking my videos, its much appreciated.

Yes I did enjoy that fantastic walk. What a beautiful place. Incredible variety of life there. A walk like that absolutely will uplift the spirits and revitalize a weak spirit. The human body and soul can endure incredible hardships if one stays grounded and connected to our natural state. As you correctly noted, even small things have an immense impact. When I’m down or stressed, I’ve found that even something as simple as touching a tree for a minute or two can change the mood in a very positive way. I’m glad you’ve found ways to cope and share your experiences with others. You never know what positive impact you might have on someone else. Take care, my friend.

Hi Mark, great message. You have brilliant insight to share with others. The unbearable times you have had, will bring hope to others as you share ways of coping. You’re right - do small things and try to enjoy the details. Everyone is on a different path. The meadow buttercups this year have been an absolute delight. I go galavanting about, trying to see rare flowers, etc, but it is the common ones like buttercups and cow parsley that are my favourites, the ones that have real significance and meaning. Those old Lammas meadows are disappearing at an alarming rate and with them so much wildlife. Yes, it was cuckoo flower (or May flower as we call them up here) Thanks for sharing Mark. Finally took some 'me' time to catch up on the KZbin channels that I follow after recently returning from another Scotland adventure Mark.Very uncanny because I touched on similar issues of depression and loss and coping in one of my recent clips. I can relate to a lot of what you said about how loss affects us and how the dark thoughts can take over. Been there, got the t shirt as they say. Managed to pull myself through but it was very hard times. Now I love my solitude, I learnt a lot about myself, my strengths and weaknesses. As you know you can have a hundred friends and still be lonely, it's the one or two that count. Talking is a great way of coping so sharing your thoughts of those dark days shows your inner strength my friend. Take care Mark, stay strong and keep on hiking. Atb Bill.

I'm blessed to have a group of friends who I couldn't bear to hurt and a partner who has sat with me through some of my most violent and self injurious panic attacks as well as being present and there for me during my own grieving process. Wonderful walk Mark! One should never allow "society" to tell them what is big or small, society is mostly about consuming, my $10 dollar watch is as accurate as a $10,000.00 dollar Rolex, so what the hell are we doing here! I grew up in the 50's when the world population was much smaller and quieter and you could see the Milky Way clearly. I live in a place where I hear coyotes howling at night and deer stroll through my yard all day long. Those deer know me, and trust me to respect them, so I get to see their newborn fawns up close. If anyone gets that feeling of offing themselves just set a date to do it a month away, what's the rush, then see how you feel at that time, maybe it is time to go. I am a natural hermit and my closest friends are wildlife. I love music and books and even though arthritis has crippled me now I can still read and listen to a wide variety of music while I rest my achy old bones. I am lucky to have a wonderful wife and family, but like many, some have disowned me, and it is their problem that they will have to come to terms with, or not. In John Steinbeck's book "Travels With Charlie" he sometimes camped on private land, and said "it is easier to apologize than to ask permission" and I found that to be true, just be humble. I've seen big flocks of geese heading north the last couple of days, and my 68 years of living here tells me that they are a month late and it is scary! On we go Mark, one step at a time, and choose your path wisely. Thank you for the wonderful walk. Sincerely, Ossie

Thank you. We use and reuse carefully, and I've picked stuff out of people's garbage and repaired it back to use, the throwaway society have few skills, and many things are made for one use and unrepairable. I avoid stuff like that. We plant a garden, it is small now for that is all we can physically do yet it gives us a decent yield. I grew up very poor, six people living in a three room 700 sq. ft. house with no indoor plumbing. I know what it is like to be in the outhouse at -20f and to pump my Mum's wash water for the laundry. Sounds like you parents were very wise and passed on useful skills, I have a feeling within the next decade we are going to need those skills more than ever.

A really good chat there, Mark. Glad you got out when you did. What initially stuck in my mind was the chat about the farmer - how you and Paul both said he was probably undervalued somewhere in his life... So very true, I'm sure. Yet when some people feel that way and act aggressively towards others, I don't think they fully understand where it comes from. Good to hear you talk about how the pandemic has really been for you. I hope sharing that does help you and others. Sound advice as well - don't try to replicate others; do what suits you. Big or small. It's the act that matters most. A beautiful meadow full of angelic skylark song and a little wren to end. A beautifully honest and insightful walk and talk Mark on turf I know well that resonates. The pinkish plant was cuckoo flower, a real beauty as is the humble dandelion that you interacted with. These places are inspirational and healing. Indeed, nature is the antidote to the woes of the modern world. You feel it and convey it wonderfully. The farmer was like you and Paul said, probably a good guy, under valued and has lost his way bless him. Ah, "Fluffy Little Clouds" by the Orb, love it. "You break up your shape" - I like that, so true. I feel your pain Mark regarding the loses that you have experienced amplified by the tyranny we are now experiencing. Coping mechanisms are needed to divert attention and refocus not allow the demons to consume you. You are so, so right, you have to love yourself, save yourself. Someone once said to me that "you can only love another person to the extent that you can love yourself". Thank you for sharing an important message Mark and reminding us what is real. Paul 👍😊

Alright Mark, the meadows look really nice mate, a nice walk thanks for sharing the history of them and some information. I very much agree walking the path less traveled is the way to go! And also agree with spending time out of the four walls, I tend to go on 2 - 4 short walks a day just helps my mood, energy levels, as I have depression, and I can't do that long walks because of knee pain. But exercise and being close to nature is great for loads of different types of mental health. When I struggled with loneliness a few years ago, going on walks, bike rides etc really did make me feel better. Also very brave of you to share about your troubles with loneliness online and good of you to give advice on this topic, like loving yourself. i attend a online virtual group from the mental health charity mind, where there are other people going through similar mental health problems, loneliness anxiety depression etc, which it helps to know that your not alone in feeling this way. Self love, truly is the key Mark. Couldn't agree more my friend, and simple remedies are always at hand. Sadly- easier said than done, much like all things of quality in life, but all challenges start with a little bit of knowledge and grow, so as you say "consistency" and the love develops. The connection or to re connect to nature is only us returning to grace, returning to the heart from the ego mind. The old saying "don't let the heart lead the mind" is so so wrong in my opinion as the head will always lead you the wrong way, whilst the heart or the gut never lies. Great to see you out enjoying the beautiful meadow Mark, wonderful info as always. Take care mate, sending lots of love and positive vibes.

Lovely, Skylarks always sound so happy.... Nice to see you slow down to the pace of nature.... As a young boy, I lived in a little village with a lovely meadow and lovely stream. Sorry to hear about your loneliness, maybe you could volunteer somewhere? In helping others we are actually helping ourselves. Getting out in nature is amazing at helping to change our thoughts. Take care mate x

Hi Bry, thanks for your kind thoughts. Yeah love the skylarks and slowing down. The loneliness has been crippling at times but I'm getting there. It's a good idea to muck in - I have done many times over the years. This though was about being abandoned to my grief. It was a brutal collapse of my paradigm. Anyway, take care bro. Mark

@@WyeExplorer Yes, I get that... sadly people just do not have the skills to cope with grief, so they hide away from it....not helpful on either side, but that is the truth. People feel awkward and embarrassed, they also feel they simply can't be enough of a friend, so again they sadly fade away. Then once the dust settles, they realise a year or so has passed, then they feel it is too late to contact the person grieving.....it is never too late, that is what I think..... be gentle with yourself mate

@@TheRamblingsofBry I agree that is true Bry. And yes time elapses and the importance even subsides. For me though it spoke of a lack of value. I mean we invest in those we see value in. So, it's been a rabbit warren of feelings and thoughts. I will go easy. Peace....

@WyeExplorer hey Mark, never stop mentioning or playing clips of Paul in your videos, it's lovely to see you both together, it's funny but have known twins before, and I can see the slight difference between you both, most people see identical twins and can't tell the difference, but the more you see them, you can tell.. I'm putting a video up soon of me walking down the trail by the Wye in Rhayader, no words, just music,I hope all find it peaceful and mindful, peace bro....

What a lovely field of buttercups! Yes I really feel for people out there that have no one. I lived alone for a while, no friends and family were far away. Felt very isolating. Yes it's little things that can help too, I really don't believe that you need to do all this heroic stuff ,like they portray on tv and films, in order to lift yourself up. Take care mate ☺️

Hi Shirley, yeah they've sprung up this year. Wonderful! Many have all experienced loneliness at some level - I get your journey. Mine though is born out of tremendous loss. Not to compare it's just an added thing to deal with. But hey them little things help and no you don't have to be setting world records. Thanks Shirley. All the best. Mark

I agree sometiems all it takes is to get out of the door and perception changes...Small steps at a time its like Marathon is run with the first mile....appreciate the honest talk...feeling of abandonment has been present my entire life because of some early life experiences and being aware of the feeling changes a lot realising that it is only a feeling not reality itself...good luck on the journey...I understand it is not easy yet you got an amazing chance to meet your twin and walk the world together and those memories will never go away and so he is always and always will be with you...🍀

Hi Eva, I agree with your analogy there. Each thousand mile journey begins with one step or a marathon. Yes, that sense of abandonment can be painful and if it grows can be devastating. But as you hint at there is another reality - all is illusion. One things for sure I had an amazing life with Paul my twin - you're spot on there. But it wasn't all roses there was conflict. Well, we try and see the good. Thanks Eva, all the best to you. Mark
