As mentioned by Letho at the very end of the Witcher 2, Yennifer also got amnesia when she was rescued from the Wild Hunt AND she tried to seduce Auckes though unsuccessfully. And I wouldn't be surprised if she did sleep with other men before regaining her own memory.

Yen, and Triss both have tried to use Ciri for their own ends before, even attempting to harm her. Stuff's to just kinda be taken with a grain of salt at this point

Having read the books I think calling each other “dear friends” is a mix of sarcasm and a polite social necessity that all sorceresses are supposed to be friends regardless of reality. In chapter 3 of A Time Of Contempt Geralt and Yennefer Attend a banquet of mages where everyone has to behave by a certain etiquette, something that Geralt finds extremely annoying, a big part of that etiquette is being polite at least on the surface regardless of ones true feeling.

One of my favorite parts of the books. Geralt screwing with all the sorceresses telepathically. The mages are jealous of each other by their nature but are also bonded together by their organization. Considering Yen's relationship with the other members of the Lodge, her friendship with Triss is practically warm and cordial

@@breedlove94 Yes, just what I was thinking. Triss doesn't go after Yen, she doesn't care about her research and is too timid to go against her in any way. It's not unusual that other sorcerers and sorceresses usually hate each other openly or plot against each other, from how they're portrayed. I wouldn't be surprised that for Yen that would be enough to consider her a friend and even a dear one. Kind of her polite way to say Triss is not annoying to her and maybe even an indirect ally. It wouldn't be the weirdest affection in the universe.

Just found out another small detail in Velen. It's about Stan Fishgulper, the fistfighter who lives in Lindenvale and asks you to lose on purpose before the fight. If you refuse and beat him, you can talk to him after the fight and give him 5 crowns so that he could buy some food for his family, and he will thank you for that.

@@xLetalis I watched your first playthrough after recommending it to a friend (she likes to watch video game playthroughs and asked for a game with good story) and was VERY DISSAPOINTED with your choice of sorceress XD Although I admit I romanced Yen the first time with the plan to romance Triss on all future playthroughs but I kinda, maybe, sort of fell in love with Yen (and have subsequently romanced her 5/7 times, Triss only once and romanced both on my evil playthrough) I actually finished listening to the books yesterday and it made me like Yen even more XD (Strangely enough, it made me like Triss more as well). I also wish they showed Yen and Ciri's mother/daughter relationship more in Witcher 3 (which I think was actually more important than Ciri and Geralt's relationship), and I think Dandelion was kind of downplayed as a character in Witcher 3. (I preferred his role in the books and first two games. In Witcher 3 he was just shown as a naive idiot who always needs saving, and whilst I'm not saying that isn't true, I think his personality isn't limited by those traits)

I would say their friendship is more of a senior-junior type than women of equal standing. Yen is much older than Triss; even Triss openly bows down to Yen's superiority in magic and experience. In the book, it was Triss who saved Yen during the pogrom. She couldve escaped but chose to save Yen. Triss was not a rival in the books, she was a mistake whom Geralt still consider as a friend. And Triss herself claims that Geralt is only a passing infatuation. In the game, however, the rift between them grows larger as the romance between Triss and Geralt is more serious. I guess that makes Yen and Triss's friendship difficult to navigate, and CPR chose the easy way out by refraining from giving them a lot of interactions.

That dear friend is probably from the books. Yen and Triss were longtime friends way before Geralt came into their lives. Yen even thought to herself that she cannot wait to tell Triss about her encounter with Geralt in Rinde. When Geralt got involved with Triss after breaking up with Yen, it was Ciri who divulge the relationship to Yen. Yen kept that to herself but showed her claws and possessiveness in Thanned by "talking candidly" with Triss. Also, Yen became vocal about ripping Triss's hair in Rivia, called Triss a little "sl_t". Despite loving one "lucky" man, they worked together to stop the slaughter in Rivia.

Geralt is a witcher who f***s almost any woman that asks it and Yennefer is a "sorceress". And she never confronted him about his other partners like Fringilla or Shani but in this case Geralt has a valid reason that he'd lost his memories and Yen explodes? Yen might be the canon ending but she's not it for me. I think there is a scene in "The Blood of Elves" where it is actually said that for Triss, her relationship with Yen is more important than her relationship with Geralt, she just can't stay away from Geralt, as she has fallen in love with him. Found another detail just now. It's about the baron's daughter, Tamara. When you figures out she's in Oxenfurt during "Family Matters", don't just go to Oxenfurt directly, go back to the baron instead. After the baron tell you some infomation about Ciri, he will ask you to go to Oxenfurt to see Tamara with your own eyes as he only trusts you. If you don't already have the offical pass required to get through the Western Gate of Oxenfurt and the Border Post in Velen then you're very lucky as the baron will give you one for FREE. Upon leaving the baron's house, a cutscene will trigger, in which the baron gives you Tamara's doll, which you found earlier in her room, and asks you to give it to her. A reminder here, if you have mod that enables fast travel from anywhere, don't fast travel until the baron gives you the doll, otherwise you will have infinite loading screen. When you're done talking with Tamara in Oxenfurt, Geralt will give the doll to her before he leaves. Tamara will have 2 extra lines to say, and the wording of her gratitude for respecting her choice will also be different. Right after when you talk to the baron, there will also be a few extra lines about how Tamara reacts to the braon's gift, aka the doll.

To be honest I feel like the writer wanted to create drama by having two good friends (Yen and Triss) fall for the same guy (Geralt) but focused too much on creating drama and kind of forgot to add to the friendship. That's how I look at it at least. Also the only scenes I can think ot in the games where their friendship is shown are: A) the fact that Triss is risking her life to help fight the wild hunt, though that one isn't nessessarily done just for Yen B) The threesome scene That's all I haven't fully red the books but I seriously remember 0 scenes between Yen and Triss in which they were on good terms (read to the fifth book)

I just realized something: in Witcher 1 you could refuse to sleep with Triss. What happens if you then transfer that save in withcer 2 and consequently in withcer 3? Would Yenn keep the bed? Now that would be a helluva detail.

@@xLetalis I checked. Had another reason to revisit the whole trilogy, so decided to check myself by avoiding Triss romance in all 3 games as much as possible. Aaand nothing different happened. Apparently Yenn gets triggered just of reminder of Triss, not just Triss-Geralt relationship. Regardless of how much you try to avoid romance with Triss in first 2 games, she still sleeps in that bed in witcher 1 prologue, apparently going bold in the process event without Geralt's help ;D And there is some romance happening at the very least in the beginning of chapter 3 of witcher 1 and prologue of witcher 2. It's just impossible to avoid.

About Triss and Yennefer's relationship: The very first time that Yennefer met Geralt, she mentioned Triss. Their relationship got disturbed ever since the youngest sorceress slept with Geralt, but Yen always liked her a lot. In the fourth book Yen confronts Triss about what happened, making very clear to Geralt that she knows Triss very well and likes her a lot, also she think that Triss feels the same for her. In the games, they just let it very unexplorated. Triss and Yennefer in the games seems to be almost enemies just because of Geralt, while in the books it goes far more than that.

The only time where we see proof of Yen's and Triss's close friendship is during the pogrom in Rivia; after Yen's been stoned to submission, Triss returns to fight off the villagers and then begs Yen to assist her in casting a storm to end the riot all together and after it all ends, Yen proudly commends Triss for her masterful spellcasting. Other than that, though, we're only ever told that they are "friends". Sadly, Sapkowksi has this bad habit of telling and not showing. I hope that the TV show exposes the friendship and we can finally see what has been vaguely told us.

Let's be honest now! Geralt takes all the fault but truth be told his relationship with Triss began while he had no memories, and Triss never tried to clarify anything. So in all of this Geralt is the one with less fault, unless in The Witcher 3 you try to take the 2, in that case he is at fault, but not before.
