I was in the market for a waxed jacket for a while and ended up going with the Freenote RJ-1. Body lined with 100% cotton and really nice satin sleeve lining. Also really like the details on it, love the type 2 vibe with pleats and stuff. I think they increased the price by 50 bucks with the latest drop which is a bummer, glad I got mine from the last drop.

I have both jackets also. Love them both. The RGT is in my opinion slightly put together better and it's all about styling and profiling in. Lol. The F&T gets more time for sure it's more of a work jacket imo. If I had to choose just one it would be the RGT for sure. It looks so good on and I can layer with a thin flannel or a long sleeve tshirt.

I’m so glad I’m not alone!! I got the RT last fall, and should’ve sized up as the jacket looks great unbuttoned but is too snug with anything more than a tshirt. And if it’s even a little warm out and you only have a tshirt on, your arms will sweat because it doesn’t breath and it feels wet and terrible. All this to say, I don’t find many opportunities to wear it and am considering selling it.
@StrokeofJeanius Жыл бұрын
I ordered and received both of these jackets at the same time to compare them and choose which to keep a few months ago. Ended up with the RGT because it fit me so well. It’s got a unique aesthetic and the tan color works so well paired up with denim. I like the F&T jacket too but it was a bit too boxy for me. Great comparison!

Like @schraiber, I also have the Freenote Cloth Riders jacket and it's fantastic. Love the design, feel, construction etc. It's pricier, but when comparing materials and design to the other options, you can kind of understand why.

@CameronO This was a very useful video for me, Cameron. Thanks! I live in the Netherlands, so I have the same issues with the weather: most of the time it's too cold and/or wet for just an unlined waxed jacket without layering and in summer it's too warm. I love the RGT style/design though. So now I finally bought a waxed jacket. I went with the RGT x Rivet&Hide collab that came out just recently. It's lined and I got a size L (I'm 182cm/82kg), which is roomy enough for layering a sweater or thick overshirt. I'm quite satified with it.
@star42 Жыл бұрын
I was sucked in by the Bond-effect, and went and purchased the RGT jacket. Had to size up. Overall it is a quality garment, and fits fairly well (if you get your right size). Looks absolutely boss on. But you nailed it on the head regarding functionality and usability: it really is difficult to find the right weather to wear this. There is a very fine set of circumstances when the temperature, humidity, and acitivity level are just right, where this jacket works. Otherwise you will either be cold and clammy, or hot and sweaty.

I have both and did the same with sizing. XL in the RGT and L in the F&T is perfect. I find myself grabbing the F&T most days because it's so easy to throw on and wear, but I do love having the RGT for those specific days and outfits. great review, loved it!

Rogue Territory does make a lined version of the supply jacket. It was worn by Ryan Reynolds in The Adam Project. I am between a L and XL in Rogue Territory, The arms are too short for me in the large. I'm not a fan of waxed canvas. I did get the unwaxed copper canvas version.

I've narrowed it down to these 2. I'm 5'10", 200lbs, 42 chest and a light dad bod. I want the Ridgeline lined, but fear it may ride too high and be too tight. Was thinking of the large size.

I've got the Flint and Tinder one just yesterday and absolutely agree with your fit/sizing remarks. I went for true to size and shoulders are perfect fit, but everything else is way too roomy to the extent I can add two laters under, but wearing it with just a t-shirt is not an option because with no layers underneath it looks like I borrowed it from someone bigger :) I've seen so many reviews with guys the same height and weight as me saying it fits perfectly, so not sure what is going on there, perhaps we have very different expectations of "fits perfectly".

Probably, no bigger contrast than Japanese sizing vs. USA sizing. Reviews such as yours really helps a potential buyer. Much appreciated.

I initially bought the RJ1 in a M @ 5'9" 170lbs with a 44" chest and it was TIGHT. Putting it on was like trying to put on a girlfriend's jacket or something, almost dislocating your shoulders to do so. All the other measurements were spot on though. I upgraded to a large and while it's a bit boxier overall now, it still fits well and isn't a pain to put on. Excited to watch it age!
@martin4819 Жыл бұрын
Based on comments I had to lookup the freenote jacket. It has some really nice details…maybe even too much, but would actually have to try. I can see where it might stand out though. I have some canvas “blazer” type jackets and they fit perfect and look great but even here in Chicago (where we have all seasons) such a fitted jacket has limited use. The FT jacket although somewhat what boxy still looks clean and allows some layering which makes it a bit more practical. It’s also a lighter canvas which will facilitate that cool wrinkling u get with wax. I ordered a Gustin version of a waxed jacket….I like the details of a traditional trucker jacket (two pockets) and torso stitching. Hopefully it fits more like the FT….I have many good mid layer clothes to extend its use. I think I’d just go with a canvas blazer (which are much cheaper) if you’re looking for a fitted look. Perhaps though too much detail of the Gustin won’t look so good with a thick mid layer and the FT has it spot on by keeping it cleaner?

I am the same body measurements as you and I had the exact same problem with the RGT tan unlined supply in a L being too snug and not able to find a good time to wear it so I sold it and picked up the Brown lined version from Rivet & Hide in a L and it is absolutely amazing. The chest is roughly an inch and a half wider, the sleeves are longer and the body is longer so it’s perfect to wear on its own with a t shirt or layer with a hoody. The satin sleeves are a nice touch and the lining means you have more chance to wear it, I live in Scotland so its almost always cold and wet so it’s perfect for chucking on to go to the shops or to the pub. You should consider picking one up it’s brilliant, a lot better in terms of fit and functionality over the unlined IMO. Cheers for the videos

I was thinking of the Rogue territory lined version for the UK. Not sure what size to get - I'm slim which quite big arms / shoulders. I'm usually a medium 39.5 inch chest. The flint seems comfortable but a bit flimsy for the money. I'm looking at the Iron and resin scout and filson short lined crusier (downsized) too.

@HereForTheStories Жыл бұрын
Hi buddy, great vid. I’m also UK based and moved on my RGT recently as after around eight years of ownership I ran into the same problem - weather. It was a super fit over a t shirt but as you say impossible to layer and therefore rare to ever go out in a t shirt if it’s raining for half the year as too cold, then come summer it doesn’t breathe so it’s utterly redundant. Big fan of RGT and have had and still have many of their pieces. Other brands worthy of mention - Filson (for the cruiser) and Freewheelers. Only criticism is you were a bit harsh with the jacket only getting a few seconds of time in the Bond film! Definitely more like several minutes.

I would like the F&T one, but i don't get the sizing. I'm 178cmX65kg, and i have about 98cm chest. Thats 38,5 inches, and the size table says M is 39. There's no way i would get the M, since most reviewers who wear that, are at least 20kgs heavier. Should i get the S then? They don't even provide the shoulders width, which doesn't make sense. I don't want it to wear as an oversized coat.

I actually made up my mind to get the RGT jacket based on a video you did of it a while back when I first discovered your channel. Your review sold me on it. But I absolutely get what you mean about it being hard to wear. Most of these boutique brands design for the “”model physique”. I have a Flint and tinder hooded waxed jacket In large (my normal size) and it’s too short despite my 5’6”” frame and is restrictive. Even worse in sizing is Bravestar forcing me to order 2xl, and it’s more restrictive than the f&t. In Carhart and Levi large is more generous than even the Bravestar in 2xl.
