I've been doing yoga consistently for ten months and this is the first time I've ever manage to hold pincha mayurasana for about 10 seconds without using a wall. So, thank you so, so much for this practice!

Thank you so much for this. You really explain the poses anatomically which is extremely helpful when overcoming what seems incredibly challenging. With just a simple alternate explanation, I was able to get further into this asana than ever before.

It took me 8mo of almost daily dedication to pincha before I could get from just flipping myself against my bed, to the wall, to away from the wall, to outside and anywhere else. I dont remember but I'm sure there were several days of frustration. I ended up living in a truck immediately after for 6months, now that I have an apartment I feel like I'm backwards with the pose until last night when I realized I really need to stretch my one foot in the air, and what helps me is allowing my hips to twist abit and then lightly push off the other leg to come up without allowing my body to flip completely over. I think what saved me the trouble of loosing flexability in my shoulders is the fact I did several stretches while living in the truck to help me with my back and shoulders. Fun pose!

Thank you, Kino, for this video! When I saw this video title photo, I thought that it's too difficult for me even to open this video. Anyway I opened this video and I started. My shoulders were tight and my mind had a lot of doubts. I continued, and my shoulders started loosed and the complains disappeared. It was a nice moment and nice feeling! After I finished it,even I could not do the pose, I feel that I have a hope to do this pose someday if I keep on at it! Thank you again! Namaste!
Thanks Kino. Especially when you say that could take some years . I find that with some poses.

Brilliant practice Kino!! Hard but helpful and kind 😊 If you are doing any vlogs could you possibly include one on recovering from injury and adjusting your practice accordingly? I tore my quadricep tendon pretty badly a little while ago and my head and body are having trouble syncing with one another these days.....I would love to hear how you have managed continuing your practice when you have been injured, and if/how you used yoga as part of your recovery. Also, any practice that isn't knee-heavy (like this one!!) is joyously welcomed.....thank you for all your hard work, you're really inspiring x

Hello, Kino! Beautiful and graceful as always! I'm practicing my headstand to forearm transition and would love some tips on that. I'm able to move my hands out of headstand from behind my hand, place them in forearm position and lift, but I always lose balance in pinchamayurasana as soon as I lift. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Thank you for sharing all your tips. You have inspired me tremendously!

I think I have a video on lifting the head in headstand... check under Urdhva Sirsasana. In Ashtanga Yoga we don't transition from headstand to Pinchamayurasana, but we do lift the head in Sirsasana.

I've been practicing yoga just one year and a half - every day, sometimes up to two hours. Pinchamayurasana is still a challenge to me to keep balance without a wall. My wall is painted blue😢😣 🤣However it's easier for me to keep balance few seconds in Scorpio asana than regular pinchamayurasana. Miracle. How these monks are able to keep it? You are amazing! Great teacher. Head and armstands are still so difficult for me. I know that my big problem is the fear to be upsidedown. Its a mental block I know and and I can not how to break it. On what inner psychological aspect the head down poses depend on? That feeling of balance can be fascinating for someone and scaring for other? Why and, it is possible to win these fears and standing on my head/arms? Margy from Italy
