Hi Brownie Bakes! Yoga Belly is prenatal friendly! In general, most women are able to continue a regular practice through month eight if they avoid twists below the neck, core activation and anything on the belly. Most will find they will know when something isn't right. Hip openers are good but go easier in third trimester. Modify core breaks with reclined cobbler's pose, modify belly stuff with child's pose or yogi's squat and modify standing twists with wide-legged forward fold. xx

When I first started doing yoga it was just another way to punish myself. Lose weight. Get toned. Achieve something. And that is how it stayed for many years - and I wondered why I was never able to cultivate a daily practice. I can't overstate how much deeper Adriene's classes go and how much they've changed the way I think about and approach yoga! This one is a prime example.

Thank you for sharing! I had a similar start a few years ago (I had lower back sciatic pain), so inevitably anytime I went to go onto the mat- I was in pain. I couldn't get comfortable or find my breath; I felt like it was useless. But, then I found Adriene's page and never looked back!! Present day, I feel like a rubber band and can't remember what that pain was even like! I never in a million years thought that 'fixing my injury' was done by strengthening the area that was in pain and bring that deep breath to alleviate the issue. Namaste

I began practicing with Adriene when I was 16, i'm now 19 and you've been really helping me combat my cerebral palsey and find that I am worthy of what I desire to have. It’s a belly that’s full of love and joy and compassion and is strong and supports me as a move throughout life. This practice with all of its detoxifying twits was perfectly timed for me as i’ve been dealing with a bit of indigestion this morning so i feel wonderfully releaved and relaxed now in my pelvic floor and gut. What a note to end on hey😂! That’s the reality of yoga though isn’t it really - it does get the intestines moving! Namaste friends🙏. I just have to say, I've been following your videos for about three years now (sometimes I fall off the wagon for a few months but I always come back). And when I first started, I came into it simply to try to get that "thin yoga body". I've been in recovery from an eating disorder and struggled for a very long time. And while I starting yoga for the body, what I really gained from it is confidence and compassion for myself and I'm so grateful for your presence on this platform. Thank you.❤❤

I had awful gripping crying fit today caused by growing existential crisis... These thoughts have bugged me for a long time. I have simply been trying to manage, survive from day to day and trying my best to make progress as a person. I am glad I have been able to follow Adriene's yoga calendar for longer than one month, I have been doing daily yoga almost all year this year, with some weeks of pause in between. I am proud of that, and happy to see mental and physical changes. Still, I'm not happy how I'm leading my life, being alone, keeping to myself and not actively trying to LIVE. I just let the time pass by, but I feel I'm wasting life, having a meaningless job where I spend most of my days, and spending the little free time I have alone in my home. I have come to realize I want myself and my situation to change, but for too long I have been afraid to act or make decisions, I feel stuck! In all this, I am happy for yoga for grounding and calming me down, helping me love and accept myself as I am, with the belly and all the insecurities, and today's session helped me stop the crying and try to think of my situation more kindly. I need to trust my instincts and act despite the fear of unknown future if I want change... I love how yoga teaches me to find the balance between acceptance and effort! I hope I can take these lessons into my everyday life and be less anxious abt my situation and instead, try to make changes and put more effort without letting life overwhelm me. Idk what is this comment, I'm just glad I have found at least one thing in life that helps me stay sane and helped me grow as a person even a little, and that is yoga with Adriene 🥺❤️

Back to that opposing yogic belly breathing today. I still find it difficult not to expand my lungs, as I do every day as I breathe deeply through my practices. But I find it does a very calming effect as we focus on it. Again, I’m loving that Sphinx and Puppy Posture flexing my spine, so good for us senior yogis 😃👍 The core work I do and enjoy so much meant that the Forearm Plank was no problem but for some reason my arthritis wouldn’t allow me to do the one legged balance on the right today and grab my ankle 😐😯 but my left leg was ok. I achieved an acceptable ballet posture 😉 It was a bit of challenge today but all done 🙏 see you tomorrow on the mat 🧘🏼♀️🧘🏻♀️🙏💕

Today I am just feeling so thankful for these videos Adriene. I don't have the money to pay for yoga lessons or to go to the gym for yoga, so your free videos have been my main yoga education. I started out with yoga following along with your lessons. Then at one point I discovered my inner guru who started teaching me to "find what feels good" for myself, to take on poses just for that exact moment or special sort of tension. I remember the first time I did this... I was doing one of your videos where you don't talk and invite us to do our own flow. This was such an emotional moment. There is a lot of pain in our bellies, and a lot of it is due to insecurities and self-criticism. I started to let some of that go and after that something changed. Gradually I awoke to guidance. Your videos have been a huge stepping stone for me on my spiritual path and for this I want to thank you again, as I have done already many times in the past. You are just great and I hope you and Benji are well.

Blossom 2022! 🙌🏼 my belly has held 9 children, and yes, I have a very tense relationship with the belly sometimes. How nice to cradle it at the end, as I have cradled it when it held each of my babies, only this time not cradling it for the life it carries but rather just for itself 💞 Second month trying yoga now and my body actually was craving those one legged balance poses. I must modify so many of the poses, but I’m growing to love it more & more even when practicing it my own way.

I felt really angry and frustrated at the beginning with all the breathing. I felt stiff as a railroad tie this morning after a lot of hard gardening work during the past weeks. I hardly could not move, I had back pain and all my muscles seems to be too short. After this belly yoga, my whole body feels soft and stretched, all pain is gone. So, my belly is not the problem, but I know right now that I will find exactly what I (and my body and soul) need when I do "random-yoga", no matter what it is named. I am doing JWA for more than 3 years now. I recovered from a surgery then and wanted to be healthy and flexible again AND I wanted to change my life and do yoga every day for at least 30 minutes. I love the sessions, and yes: I am doing Yoga every day, starting with Yoga Revolution in 2017. Must I say, that I love to do yoga with Adriene? Guess not. LOVE IT !!! All the best to all of you, and a big heartwarming THANK YOU to you, Adriene

Back to the calendar today after some of my fitness favourites. This practice is slow and powerful. Half way through the belly breathing I had to adjust from cross legged onto the knees for senior yogi comfort. I felt quite zenned out after that ! I loved that transition from Puppy Posture to Sphinx Pose. What an awesome feeling in the whole body, sort of graceful and proud, so beneficial 👌 The one legged balancing at the end is not wise for my arthritis feet, so I used my time to belly breathe through some Yoga for the Feet👍 wow what a strong practice that was ? See you tomorrow on the mat Adriene 🧘🏼♀️🧘🏻♀️🙏💕

I'm a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, and let me tell you this was exactly what I needed. After long hours of work, house chores, and taking care of three children 5 and under, I find very little time for myself. I got home after being up for over 36hrs and only one 2hr (very interrupted) nap, and I decided, with my back hurting so bad, I decided to turn on KZbin. I thought to look up that youtuber I once watched a yoga for beginners video(that I actually felt comfortable doing in my postpartum state,) and thought through the process of finding her, yet lo and behold a new video posted not 28mins ago was waiting in my subscriptions by that very youtuber. I didn't hesitate and immediately clicked. Thank you 💜💜💜

Blessed Beloved Beauties! I absolutely adore Spark Day -5. I am making it up on Day-6. I was, so exhausted yesterday and while I did practice yoga I didn't get around to this session. Today was perfect. I tried something different on my cardio day and weight trained 💪🏾 after calisthenics, then ran at the top of the day. 🏃🏿♀️ I think I like doing my yoga in the evenings on my long workout days. I feel centered after this practice thus the core being the focus. I'm interested in reading my first experience of this session to witness some growth. I feel amazing and I'm ready to study today's session of the spark journey along with more studies from my other yoga instructor. Best wishes everyone! Namaste and Ase! 🦋♥️🦋

Hey Adreine , I have my fair share of medical problems and I've always known that the key to coping with these issues is a positive attitude, and to truly be kind to yourself. Anyways, you Adreine, have been a huge help for me, and I just wanted to let you know that what you do changes lives and makes them better. You've certainly helped change mine, and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart, not to get mushy or anything. Day 26 of Nurture, I always find this belly breathing a bit of a challenge. I’m so used to expanding my lungs to breathe really deep in my yoga that this seems kinda strange but I inned for four and outed for six. Concentrating on this was very calming and there were some awesome stretches in there too. A slow loving practice today for our Sunday. See you tomorrow for some peaceful warrior Adriene🧘🏼♀️🧘🏻♀️🙏💞

Hi Adriene, I'm looking forward to trying this new video out! I do have a suggestion for a future video too: yoga for inflammation (esp. chronic inflammation). I think more and more people are suffering from chronic inflammatory disorders, and there must something in the yoga practice that specifically targets the mechanisms underlying it.
@joyousthirst5 жыл бұрын
M E -- I second this request! Have recently been learning that inflammation requires exercising differently (since exercise itself is inflammatory by nature, have to be careful not to push the body past what it can do, but also need to strengthen the body a little at a time). Maybe a video about making modifications to poses in ways that support the body more fully?
@joyousthirst5 жыл бұрын
M E -- -- also, I've found Adriene's more gentle routines helpful for stretching without overdoing-- like "Intro to Yin" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/iILciWdug9l3qLM ) and also "Yoga for When You Are Sick" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGa8p6ePjbiimdk )

After doing this practice today, it occurred to me that yoga is such a gift to oneself. We make so many choices that add stress, toxicity, etc to our bodies and our lives. Every time I do yoga, I am helping myself. Yoga is an act of self-love and self-nurture.

My Dad tested covid +ve a week ago & my Mum and I followed soon after. We're doing okay! It seems mild. But even the mild version is effing exhausting. The only thing I would force myself to do was get out of bed practice yoga with Adriene - yoga for when you're sick, comfy cosy yoga, opening the heart chakra, yoga for the lower back...these gentle, low-impact kinds of practices got me through the last few days because they calmed my anxiety and got me to move, even if just a little bit. I finally feel a bit more like myself today so I hopped back on the August Inquire calendar. Thank you for being there through it all, Adriene!

This is one of my favorites. The heat of the summer is now met with the rainy season which started today. Somehow, the sound of the rain distracts from the heat. However, this is the one practice that reminds me that I have hernia mesh inside for nearly a quarter century. I did not feel any bolts today but I did feel the broad surface of the mesh. Ah, whatever. Everyone else, enjoy! Keep your screen in front of you. I tend to have it on the side and always start to turn and wobble if I look during any one-legged poses! Process day 3. 272 days in a row.

I’ve always done Dancer gripping the ankle in the past, but today I switched it around to grab the arch of the foot - and instead of being a big quad stretch, I could feel my hamstrings contract. I have literally never felt that before (my hamstrings are always taught thanks to genetics and daily sitting). My legs feel relaxed for the first time in forever; thank you so much. I have a new pose to love.
