Want to improve your posture in just 10 minutes? These stretches for tight chest muscles will work on your chest and shoulder mobility to leave you feeling taller and looser!
Perfect as a beginner chest stretch, all you'll need is a yoga strap (for example: amzn.to/2QTUTCd) or a belt to practice with me today and work through some yoga chest opener poses for tight muscles and posture. Thank you for your wonderful videos! I have found this routine, in conjunction with your routines for the trapezius muscles, neck and mid back, highly beneficial for my posture. What they have highlighted is that I have also have significant tightness in my Rhomboids. Unfortunately I have been unable to find anything effective for stretching them. I would dearly like it if this could be the subject of a future video. Many thanks once again for your videos and all that they have done for me!

I have been searching for something like this for so long!! I have super tight shoulders and chest and while I want to do Uttanasana I am only able to hold my hands behind my back but have never gotten them away from my butt/back. This feels so good and was exactly what I need to slowly get to my goal. Subscribed for the first time ever. Love posture work and feel amazing after this. Thank you!

Yes more anti-desk please, also if there is any form of yoga that could be done while sitting at the desk. Each pose of this session was so good, especially with the strap.

This is amazing! I struggle so much with front shoulder pain and this sequence really stretched it out. I plan to start doing the first half of this right at my desk at work.

I get horrible tight chest from both muscle damage due to mastectomy and anxiety. Sometimes I’m near panic but this was aMAZing. Will bookmark!

You’re awesome. I love this video!!! I deal with a lot of muscle tightness somehow, used to feel great but since an injury it hit me really good, esp with age. But this actually helps. I do other stretches daily but definitely going to incorporate this. I am interested in learning what other stretches you might have

Do you have more practices for open chest and posture? I have been doing my postgrad research and I have been spending a lot of time sitting but I always have breaks and do this practice. It helps a lot! Would love other in the same style. Thank you Joelle 🙏

Great question Iris, I think most of us need to work harder to improve our posture with all this hunching forwards we always do. Great idea to come back to the neck and chest practices! I'm not familiar with thoracic outlet syndrome, but you could also have a look at the side body classes to see how those feel for you. Hope that helps!

Hi, Joelle! I love your videos. My question is: can you explain any type of modifications for how to do these, when one is unable to sit in a lotus or crossed leg position? I found myself struggling to not fall over when doing these! You mentioned maybe using a chair - is there any other techniques that you would recommend? Thank you!

Thank you so much for practicing with me! Great question - as you mentioned, sitting in a chair is a wonderful modification for many of these stretches, as is simply sitting on a thick cushion or rolled-up blanket, if that's enough height for you. Bottom line: just find a comfortable seated position that works for you!
