This practice guides you through a gentle body scan. It is based on the practices of mindfulness and yoga nidra, where you lie down and listen to the meditation to go into a state of NSDR (non sleep deep rest, coined by neuroscientist and professor Dr. Andrew Huberman.)

I came here after listening to you speak with Dan on the Ten Percent happier podcast Kelly, and I'm ever so glad I did. Having meditated for about 8 years, I've tried many guided and non-guided methods. From Headspace to 10%, from Vipassana style to Satipatthana style. And this practice is one of the most impactful and potent I've tried. It has a similar impact on me as Dr Dan Siegel's Wheel of Awareness. I only discovered Yoga Nidra in the past few months, and I'm ever so grateful that you've taken the time to create these guided sessions, Kelly. Thank you. Namaste.

@@kellyboys5313 thank you. The front/back and left/right elements feel particularly impactful. I've not used that technique before. What is the provenence of them? Are they an intrinsic part of Yoga Nidra, or something you have added?

@@Steveoaudioandstuff Yes, I love that work too. As far as I can tell, that came through the body sensing work of Jean Klein, who taught several of the people I studied with. Joan Ruvinsky is one of them (she's passed away now), among others. I utilize it a lot because I've seen the effectiveness of opposites over time teaching. Thanks!

Huberman recommended your channel! amazing! I struggled to feel the front of my body for some reason, is it ok to just to the back?

No problem, you can still follow along with the guidance because "nothing" is "something" - so when I name a body part like your shoulder, even if you don't feel anything, let yourself be with the absence of sensation. You're still training your attention to be able to rest from one place to the next, which is good, and it's great you can feel the back of your body too. Hope this helps!

Ads playing in the middle of the session is a deal breaker.

Hi there, I’m so sorry you had an interruptive experience. From what I can gather, ads play if you don’t have KZbin premium. I’ll look into it further as far as what I can do on the channel - and also upload some meditations ad-free to my website! Best, Kelly

@@kellyboys5313 Thanks for checking on it. I don't have premium, but have listened to many other videos on KZbin without any ads popping up. They often do have front-loaded ads that play before the main video starts.

Hi Billy. The ads are, unfortunately, KZbin's way of making cash from you. Sadly, the person who uploads the video cannot stop ads coming up in your KZbin experience if you're not using the paid version (Premium). As is often said about social media, if you're getting it for free, then you are the product. By the way, I'm not advocating you should pay; I'm just letting you know that as someone who uploads to KZbin a fair bit, it's beyond the control of the uploader.
