From the beginning of the player's handbook: Wizards of the Coast is not responsible for the consequences of splitting up the party, *sticking appendages in the mouth of a leering green devil face* , accepting a dinner invitation from bugbears, storming the feast hall of a hill giant steading, angering a dragon of any variety, or saying yes when the DM asks, "Are you really sure?"

Trott has actually done three of those in this very campaign. He did anger the dragon and the DM did ask him "Do you really do that?" or something along those lines. So yay Trott.

You might be better served with a deep dive. There is a race of dogfolk called Lupin. It's from Basic D&D (when TSR owned the IP there was a side form of D&D; 1st and 2nd Edition are actually called Advanced Dungeons & Dragons). Unfortunately you would need to homebrew it if Trott wanted to play one.

When I checked the description, it states that anything that touches the Sphere is "obliterated". The 4d10 damage text is only mentioned regarding objects passing through it whilst holding artifacts, etc. I read it as that, whatever touches the Sphere is instantly destroyed.

Yeah I am only watching this now, but almost 2 weeks ago we had our first session for a new campaign, homebrew one written and DM'd by my best friend. He had a mechanic which transported us to a new area, out of a "Gladiator Labyrinth Death Show"(we are the entertainment for the high class and even the Gods themselves)... The place we where teleported: The Tomb of Horros ofcourse! He did a little bit of tweaking himself, so it wasn't exactly the same... but, there was a pitch black sphere and a Gargoyle. We didn't mess with the Gargoyle, but our Paladin, my in-game new best friend, wanted to check out the orb.. maybe it was a mechanism or whatever. So, he stood ready to touch it, I ready to help him out if whatever happened. The second he touched it, he just vanished... I reacted with: I'm gonna touch it too, as a split second reaction. The DM didn't even got the chance to explain what happened, so... I vanished too... Only because our Gods (as I said, the other guys is a Paladin and I play a War Cleric) are actually, literally watching us in this Death Game, they helped us out.. also because the Paladin prayed to his God to stand by him... But, because they didn't expect me to jump in after him, I lost ALL MY GEAR! Well, at least we got out of there alive... Only because it was a tweaked, homebrew and kinda lucky dice combination. Pfff, I was actually scared as a player to lose my Character in the first session hahaha

I'm pretty sure that K'ehleyr's spirit (forget his name) likes to take risks, but not without an obvious payoff or chance of success. Also, the spirits just talk to them, not necessarily influence their personality.

Zachman400 As a barbarian, if she raged the Max damage she could take is 100, so it's actually highly unlikely the jump would have killed her. Just stranded her a day or so away from Omu and made her walk with Rusty. Considering Rusty walked alone the entire way and didn't lose a single hitpoint, I think it's safe to say she would have been fine.

Rather, it was Trott excellently roleplaying as a curious bird. If in doubt, peck it. You can't take nature out of even the smartest person. If it's, for example, a Sorcerer who knows that drinking is bad for his ability to use spells, but also happens to be a Dwarf, well then it, likely, would be in his nature to drink and enjoy drinking.

To be fair, Tomb of Annihilation is considered as a "hardcore and brutal" quest. The Lightfall is not, and considering that Mark made it for 50 % of the players (Kim and Matt) never having played any DnD before, it's more for telling a story, rather than testing the mettle and luck of the players. Another thing is that Cam, while bumbling about, he rarely acts out in a stupid way while trying to solve a puzzle or fighting a difficult foe. There's a difference between stupid stuff, and reckless and thoughtless stuff.
